Lemierre’s syndrome(Ls)is an uncommon condition with oropharyngeal infections,internal jugular vein thrombosis,and systemic metastatic septic embolization as the main *** species,a group of strictly anaerobic Gram negative rod shaped bacteria,are advocated to be the main pathogen *** report a case of Ls complicated by pulmonary embolism and pulmonary septic emboli that mimicked a neoplastic lung condition.A Medline search revealed 173 case reports of Ls associated with internal jugular vein thrombosis that documented the type of *** confirmed high prevalence in young males with Gram negative infections(83.2%).Pulmonary embolism was reported in 8.7% of cases mainly described in subjects with Gram positive infections(OR=9.786;95%CI:2.577-37.168,P=0.001),independently of age and *** four fatal cases were *** is an uncommon condition that could be complicated by pulmonary embolism,especially in subjects with Gram positive infections.

The number of women with heart disease who reach childbearing age in a good functional state increases continuously as advances in diagnosis and treatment improve overall health and prognosis. The cardiologist’s role is to give the woman an estimate of both maternal and fetal risk to allow her to make an informed decision about embarking on a pregnancy, and to provide appropriate antenatal care. There are only a few data about the natural history of anthracycline-induced cardiomyopathy during preg- nancy;we report our experience of a 29-year- old pregnant woman with a history of anthracycline-induced clinical heart failure.

In forest modeling to estimate the volume of wood,artificial intelligence has been shown to be quite effi-cient,especially using artificial neural networks(ANNs).Here we tested whether diameter at breast height(DBH)and the total plant height(Ht)of eucalyptus can be pre-dicted at the stand level using spectral bands measured by an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)multispectral sensor and vegetation *** do so,using the data obtained by the UAV as input variables,we tested different configurations(number of hidden layers and number of neurons in each layer)of ANNs for predicting DBH and Ht at stand level for different Eucalyptus *** experimental design was randomized blocks with four replicates,with 20 trees in each experimental *** treatments comprised five Eucalyptus species(***,***,***,***-dis,and ***)and Corymbria *** and Ht for each plot at the stand level were measured seven times in separate overflights by the UAV,so that the multispectral sensor could obtain spectral bands to calculate vegetation indices(VIs).ANNs were then constructed using spectral bands and VIs as input layers,in addition to the categorical variable (species), to predict DBH and Ht at the stand level simultaneously. This report represents one of the first appli-cations of high-throughput phenotyping for plant size traits in Eucalyptus species. In general, ANNs containing three hidden layers gave better statistical performance (higher esti-mated r, lower estimated root mean squared error-RMsE) due to their greater capacity for self-learning. Among these ANNs, the best contained eight neurons in the first layer, seven in the second, and five in the third (8 − 7 − 5). The results reported here reveal the potential of using the gener-ated models to perform accurate forest inventories based on spectral bands and VIs obtained with a UAV multispectral sensor and ANNs, reducing labor and time.

＜正＞The Quimbo Dam site presents unique geological and topographic characteristics, previously not dealt by a major Concrete Face Rockfill Dam （CFRD）, at least to the knowledge of the authors. Very friable sandstones of tertiary age combine with a very narrow and short canyon to produce a challenging site for the implantation of a 151 m high dam. several dam types were analyzed and CFRD constituted the only one deemed acceptable for this unique site. It required the combination of RCC technology as well as the extension of the concrete face to cover the very narrow abutment containing clearly visible open fractures filled with erodable material, providing an economical solution for the development of this hydropower scheme in Colombia.

The present work focused on the application of innovative damping technologies in order to improve railway vehicle performances in terms of dynamic stability and comfort. As a benchmark case-study, the secondary sus- pension stage was selected and different control techniques were investigated, such as skyhook, dynamic compensation, and sliding mode control. The final aim was to investigate which control schemes are suitable for optimal exploitation of the non-linear behavior of the actuators. The performance improvement achieved by adoption of the semi-active dampers on a standard high-speed train was evaluated in terms of passenger comfort. Different control strategies have been investigated by comparing a simple sIsO （single input single output） regulator based on the skyhook damper ap- proach with a centralized regulator. The centralized regulator allows for the estimation of a near optimal set of control forces that minimize car-body accelerations with respect to constraints imposed by limited performance of semi-active actuators. simulation results show that best results is obtained using a mixed approach that considers the simultaneous applications of model based and feedback compensation control terms.

In this paper we examine 5 indexes (the two Yule’s indexes, the chi square, the odds ratio and an elementary index) of a two-by-two table, which estimate the correlation coefficient ρ in a bivariate Bernoulli distribution. We will find the compact expression of the influence functions, which allow the quantification of the effect of an infinitesimal contamination of the probability of any pair of attributes of the bivariate random variable distributed according to the above-mentioned model. We prove that the only unbiased index is the chi square. In order to determine the indexes, which are less sensitive to contamination, we obtain the expressions of three synthetic measures of the influence function, which are the maximum contamination (gross sensitivity error), the mean square deviation and the variance. These results, even if don’t allow a definitive assessment of the overall optimum properties of the five indexes, as not all of them are unbiased, nevertheless they allow to appreciating the synthetic entity of the effect of the contaminations in the estimation of the parameter ρ of the bivariate Bernoulli distribution.

Background:We sought to assess the overall benefit of laparoscopic versus open hepatectomy for treatment of colorectal liver metastases(CRLMs)using the win ratio,a novel methodological ***:CRLM patients undergoing curative-intent resection in 2001-2018 were identified from an international multi-institutional *** were paired and matched based on age,number and size of lesions,lymph node status and receipt of preoperative *** win ratio was calculated based on margin status,severity of postoperative complications,90-day mortality,time to recurrence,and time to ***:Among 962 patients,the majority underwent open hepatectomy(n=832,86.5%),while a minority underwent laparoscopic hepatectomy(n=130,13.5%).Among matched patient-to-patient pairs,the odds of the patient undergoing laparoscopic resection“winning”were 1.77[WR:1.77,95%confidence interval(CI):1.42-2.34].The win ratio favored laparoscopic hepatectomy independent of low(WR:2.94,95%CI:1.20-6.39),medium(WR:1.56,95%CI:1.16-2.10)or high(WR:7.25,95%CI:1.13-32.0)tumor burden,as well as unilobar(WR:1.71,95%CI:1.25-2.31)or bilobar(WR:4.57,95%CI:2.36-8.64)*** odds of“winning”were particularly pronounced relative to short-term outcomes(i.e.,90-day mortality and severity of postoperative complications)(WR:4.06,95%CI:2.33-7.78).Conclusions:Patients undergoing laparoscopic hepatectomy had 77%increased odds of“winning”.Laparoscopic liver resection should be strongly considered as a preferred approach to resection in CRLM patients.
