Cardiovascular Risk Assessment in the Nursing Team of a Cardiology Hospital

Objective: Cardiovascular diseases are the most common causes of morbidity and the leading cause of mortality in the world scenario, accounting for about 20% of all deaths in individuals over 30 years. It has attributed this to the increase in the company’s exposure to risk factors. It identifies cardiovascular risk factors in the nursing team and compares the cardiovascular risk by framingham score among professionals of middle and upper working in a referral hospital in cardiology. Method: Cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted in 2014, in a reference hospital in cardiology located in Recife/Pernambuco, Brazil. data of cardiologic risk factors were collected from 82 nursing team members, comprised of technical, auxiliary nurses, and nurses between 30 and 74 years of age. The cardiovascular risk level was evaluated by the framingham Score. data were organized and analyzed by means of the SPSS, with descriptive statistics and Student-t test for the continuous variables. Results: family history, stress and sedentary life style were the prevalent risk factors in more than half of the professionals. Only 5.23% of the technical and auxiliary nurses had a high risk score for cardiovascular event. Conclusion: The data indicates a low cardiovascular risk for these professionals and the presence of risk factors that can be modified. Health surveillance of these professionals is necessary in order to avoid a change to a risk of greater vulnerability.

Growth and development of Bell Peppers Submitted to fertilization with Biochar and Nitrogen

The experiment was carried out in the greenhouse of the deAg/UfCG, Campina Grande (PB), Brazil, to evaluate the growth and development of the bell pepper subjected to fertilization with biochar and nitrogen. The experiment was conducted in pots under greenhouse conditions. Treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design, in 4 × 4 factorial scheme, relative to four doses of biochar (0;7;14 and 21 m3⋅ha−1) and four doses of nitrogen (0;40;80 and 120 kg⋅ha−1), with three replicates. Considering the analysis of growth of bell pepper plants during the first 45 daS, is recommended the average dose of biochar of 19 m3⋅ha−1 on vegetable behavior. Under the conditions of the experiment, nitrogen favored only the absolute growth rate of plant height and the stem diameter.

Longitudinal Care Evaluation in Child Healthcare

Objective: To evaluate the essential attribute of Primary Health Care, longitudinal care, care directed at children from birth to two years old. Methods: This is a descriptive and exploratory study of evaluative character and quantitative approach, conducted with parents/caregivers of 186 children, younger than two years old, patients of primary health care services in the city of Santa Cruz/RN, Brazil. for data collection, the instrument Primary Care Assessment Tools (PCA Tools) was used, and the results of the questions dealing with longitudinal attribute were evaluated. The data were stored and processed in Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Health Sciences School of Trairí, under number 348896. Results: The mean age of children in months was 8.21;84.4% (n = 157) were assisted by the same doctor/nurse every time;in 81.7% (n = 152) of cases the doctor/nurse know the full medical history of the child;73.7% (n = 137) answered that the professional know their child more as a person than just as someone with a health problem;48.9% (n = 91) stated that the doctor/nurse do not know their family very well;86.6% (n = 161) reported finding the doctor/nurse understands what is saying or questioning;96.2 (n = 179) of respondents said the doctor/nurse answers the questions so that they understand;96.2% (n = 179) of the interviewed said they feel comfortable telling the concerns or problems of their child to the doctor/nurse;66.7% (n = 124) claimed that they would not change the service/doctor/nurse to another health service. Conclusion: It is concluded that the attribute was well rated by the mothers of children seen in primary health care services and that they can establish good communication and relationship with the health professionals who treat their children.

Objective:To evaluate the antioxidant,antibacterial and bacterial cell agglutination activities of the hexane(Hex) and 70%ethanol(70%EtOH) extracts of two species of red seaweeds Pterocladiella capillacea(***) and Osmundaria ***:In vitro antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH radical scavenging assay,ferric-reducing antioxidant power assay,ferrous ion chelating assay,β-carotene bleaching assay and total phenolic content *** activity was tested using the method of disc diffusion on Mueller-Hinton *** ability of algal extracts to agglutinate bacterial cells was also ***:The 70%EtOH extract of the two algae showed the highest values of total phenolic content compared to the Hex *** results of DPPH for both extracts(Hex,70%EtOH) of Osmundaria obtusiloba(43.46%and 99.47%) were higher than those of ***(33.04%and 40.81%) at a concentration of 1 000 μg/*** for the ferrous ion chelating,there was an opposite behavior,extracts of *** had a higher *** extracts showed a low ferric-reducing antioxidant power,with optical density ranging from0.054 to *** activities of all extracts evaluated for β-carotene bleaching were above 40%.There was no antibacterial activity against bacterial strains ***,the extracts of both species were able to agglutinate bacterial Gram positive cells of Staphylococcus aureus and Gram negative cells of Escherichia coli,multidrug-resistant Salmonella and Vibrio *** This is the first report of the interaction between these algal extracts,rich in natural compounds with antioxidant potential,and Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial cells.

Assessment of Educational Videos on the Prevention and Management of Infant Diarrhea:Documental Study

Objective: To evaluate the suitability of educational videos produced in Brazil that addressed aspects related to prevention and/or management of infant diarrhea according to content;language;graphic illustrations;stimulation for learning/motivation and cultural fit. Method: Documentary study, which evaluated six educational videos from an adapted and validated tool, the Suitability Assessment of Materials. Three nurses evaluated the videos. data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 17.0, and presented in tables and graphics. Results: It was found that 4 (66.6%) of the educational videos were classified as appropriate, ranging from 60% to 63.3% of full approval, and 2 (33.3%) were assessed as higher, reaching up to 83.3% to 90% approval. Considering the socioeconomic and cultural contexts of the videos to the audience, they assigned notes ranging from 6 to 9 in a rating ranging from 0, the minimum score, to 10, the highest score. Conclusion: The educational videos were considered adequate, with positive results about the content on the prevention and management of infant diarrhea, being appropriate for the target audience. As a result, greater credibility is ratified as the use thereof, since these resources can contribute to health promotion and prevention of diarrhea in children.

This study aimed to analyze the concept of nursing care to patients with breast cancer on chemotherapy treatment, according to the perspective of the person submitted to care. The study followed the conceptual analysis methodology proposed by Walker and Avant according to Waldow, and it was developed through consultation to SCOPUS and CINAHL databases. The selection was carried out by inclusion and exclusion criteria, constituting a sample of 7 articles. There have been identified the main uses of the risk concept, defining attributes, antecedents and consequences of the concept. The evaluation of the concept and nursing care to breast cancer patient on chemotherapy treatment allowed a broader understanding of the phenomenon, with emphasis on the skills and competencies in nursing care dispensed to woman on chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

Performance Analysis and Technical feasibility of an iUPQC in Industrial Grids

The iUPQC is a Unified Power Quality Conditioner in which the series converter emulates a sinusoidal current source and the shunt converter emulates a sinusoidal voltage source. This approach provides indirect power quality compensation of the load voltage and the source current. Recent studies have suggested that the iUPQC has technical advantages in comparison with the conventional UPQC due to its reduced switching frequency characteristic. In this paper, these technical advantages are investigated. Thus, the iUPQC performance is verified through a 150 kVA industrial equipment and technical design specifications are discussed: the iUPQC power circuit design, the converters arrangement and the driver configuration. Experimental results are provided to validate the technical feasibility and power quality compensation performance.

Antifungal Susceptibility Profile <i>In Vitro</i>fungal Air in a Hospital Environment

Purpose: The aim of this study was to isolate and identify potentially pathogenic airborne fungi from Hospital das Clínicas Samuel Libanio in the city of Pouso Alegre-MG and evaluate their susceptibility to natural and industrial products. Methods: The air collection was performed by passive sedimentation in the morning during the autumn and winter seasons. Petri dishes were open as the location of air conditioning. The isolates were subjected to pathogenicity test. The identification of the fungi was performed according to the macroscopic evaluation and micromorphology. Potentially pathogenic isolates were susceptibility tested by disc diffusion method. The agents used were insecticides and industrial cleaning products and essential oils of citronella plants, lemon grass, eucalyptus and Melaleuca extracted by steam distillation method. Results: We obtained a total of 356 fungal isolates. The inside door environments were 126 (35.39%) and the outside environments were 230 (64.6%) isolates. The 22 (6.18%) isolates from the inside and 25 (6.18%) outside the hospital showed pathogenic potential. This isolates were identified as Acremonium spp., A. niger, A. terreus, A. versicolor, Curvularia sp., Penicillium sp. and Scopulariopsis sp. Susceptibility testing it was observed that most of the isolates were susceptible to the principle product containing sodium hypochlorite. Citronella oil showed enormous potential inhibition against all isolates. Already lemon grass oil was effective only against isolates of Penicillium spp. Conclusions: All genres identified are significant allergens, which can cause respiratory disease in both immunocompromised individuals such as asthmatics and people with any immune deficit. The monitoring of environmental sources should be performed, especially in special areas with immunocompromised patients. despite efforts to try to reduce fungal infections hospital there are still flaws in the strategies employed.

Genetic Distance Estimated by RAPD Markers and Performance of Topcross Hybrids in Popcorn

The purpose of this study was to investigate the diversity of 14 popcorn populations and a broad genetic base tester using molecular RAPD markers and to estimate the correlation between the genetic distances and the performance of top-cross hybrids. for the evaluation of populations and hybrids resulting from topcrosses, the reduced model of Gardner was used. A genetic distance matrix was generated based on RAPD markers by Jaccard coefficient, and a dendrogram was constructed. In general, topcrosses performed better than the populations per se and evidenced heterosis occurrence in topcrosses. The trait grain weight is influenced by additive as much as by dominance effects. Genetic associations separated the populations in three groups, and RAPD showed to be a useful tool to determine the extension of genetic diversity in popcorn populations and to place genotypes in distinct heterotic groups. Correlations between genetic divergences, detected by RAPD, and the means observed in the topcross crosses were positive and non-significant for expansion volume, plant height, and female flowering, and were negative for grain weight.
