Entanglement-based quantum key distribution(QKD)promises enhanced robustness against eavesdropping and compatibility with future quantum *** other sources,semiconductor quantum dots(QDs)can generate polarization-entangled photon pairs with near-unity entanglement fidelity and a multiphoton emission probability close to zero even at maximum *** properties have been demonstrated under resonant two-photon excitation(TPE)and at operation temperatures below 10 ***,source blinking is often reported under TPE conditions,limiting the maximum achievable photon *** addition,operation temperatures reachable with compact cryocoolers could facilitate the widespread deployment of QDs,e.g.,in satellite-based quantum *** demonstrate blinking-free emission of highly entangled photon pairs from GaAs QDs embedded in a p-i-n *** fidelity entanglement persists at temperatures of at least 20 K,which we use to implement fiber-based QKD between two buildings with an average raw key rate of 55 bits/s and a qubit error rate of 8.4%.We are confident that by combining electrical control with already demonstrated photonic and strain engineering,QDs will keep approaching the ideal source of entangled photons for real world applications.

This study presents an investigation of the impact of the quasi-stationary voltage support provided by a voltage source converter(VSC)connected to a single point of a power *** on the directional derivative concept,an analytical method is developed to quantify the sensitivities of the AC bus voltage with respect to the VSC reactive power control *** on a real case study,it is shown that the method applies to VSC units that are part of VSC-HVDC systems,which can operate in a point-to-point or multi-terminal ***-domain simulations are performed to verify the findings from the application of the analytical method on a reduced size power system.

Long COVID has been studied as different sequelae that some individuals can develop after the acute phase of the disease. Persistent symptoms such as dry cough, fatigue, and dyspnea can remain after six months of COVID-19 cure. Others such as lung fibrosis, kidney injury, and thrombotic risk also are observed. Here, a deep review of each human organ and system infected by the virus was performed aiming to show how molecules expression and cell signaling can induce the organism cure or injuries and, subsequently sequelae. The review also suggests the importance of public health surveillance for these cases including a more comprehensive analysis of molecular biology tools that can clarify and assist in the prognosis, treatment, and preventive methods for potentially more serious disorders in post-COVID-19 patients.

Common rare earth (RE) minerals, such as bastnasite and monazite, may be formed in deposits associated with carbonate gangue, such as calcite and dolomite. Sodium oleate is a widely used collector for the flotation of both RE and gangue minerals, which might, therefore, be an inefficient process due to the lack of selectivity of this collector. Since these minerals are also sparingly soluble in solution, they could release their constituent ions into the solution, which could affect the floatability of other minerals. In this study, the interactions of sodium oleate with bastn(a|¨)site and monazite in the presence of dissolved dolomite species have been investigated. Micro flotation tests were carried out to explore the effects of these dissolved species on the floatability of the RE minerals. Zeta potential measurements and XPS characterization were carried out to understand how the species affect the collector adsorption. To complement these characterizations, density functional theory (DfT) simulations were conducted to investigate the collector-mineral and collector-adsorbed species (on the mineral surface) *** results show that collector-dolomite interaction energy is greater than that of collector-adsorbed species, but lower than collector-monazite interaction energy, explaining the decrease in the minerals’recovery upon exposure to the dissolved mineral species. It is also shown that oleate ions (OI^-) have the strongest interaction with the minerals compared to other oleate species such as acid soap (HOI_2^-) and oleate dimer (Ol_2^(2-)). The behavior (strength and selectivity) of sodium oleate towards RE minerals and dolomite, as compared to other RE mineral collectors (such as aromatic hydroxamate), is attributed mainly to the collector's and the minerals'structure. Justifications: Perioperative allogeneic blood transfusion can be reduced or even completely avoided by using a set of different strategies: meticulous hemostasis, the use of pharmaceutical agents that assist in the process of coagulation/ fibrinolysis, the use of blood substitutes, induced hypotension, preoperative autologous blood donation, collection and reinfusion of autologous blood during the operation, as well as from acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH). Contents: ANH consists of taking a percentage of the patient’s blood volume and a concurrent infusion of acellular fluids in order to maintain normovolemia. As a consequence, a hemodiluted patient will lose less blood cells for each blood volume that is lost during the surgical procedure. The aim of this study is to clarify doubts and provide practical information relative to the procedure of ANH through the author’s own experiences as well as literary examples. Conclusions: ANH is an easy and cheap technique performed during the intraoperative period useful to reduce the use of hemoderivatives.

Air pollution has become a major problem in urban areas due to increasing industrialization and *** this study ambient concentrations of PM1 and metal concentrations as well as source contributions were identified and quantified by using Positive Matrix factorization(PMf)in receptor modeling in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre,*** PM1 samples were collected on PTfE filters from december 2012 to december 2014 in two sampling *** ion and trace element concentrations were *** average concentrations were 12.8 and 15.2μg/m^(3) for Canoas and Sapucaia do Sul sites,*** ion contributions of PM1 were secondary pollutants such as sulfate and *** elements,especially Cu,Pb,Zn,Cd,and Ni also made important contributions which are directly associated with anthropogenic *** results show significantly higher levels in winter than in *** of the PM1 and the analyzed PM species and elements originated from anthropogenic sources,especially road traffic,combustion processes and industrial activities,which are grouped in 7 major contributing sources.A back-trajectory analysis showed that the long-range transport of pollutants was not relevant in relation to the contribution to PM1 and metal *** work highlights the importance of urban planning to reduce human health exposure to traffic and industrial emissions,combined with awareness-raising actions for citizens concerning the impact of indoor sources.
