Study of Water Relations and Solutes Accumulation in Two Rice Genotypes under NaCI Stress during Seedling Stage

In order to study osmotic adjustment and accumulation of anions and cations in rice （oryza sativa L.） seedlings under NaCl stress, a greenhouse experiment was conducted using two rice cultivars including IR651 （tolerant） and IR29 （sensitive）. Seedlings were grown in Youshida nutrient solution. Salinity treatments were imposed 21 days after sowing with 0 and 100 mm NaCI and seedlings were harvested 0, 72, 120 and 240 hour after salinization. Water （ψw） and osmotic （ψs） potentials, total soluble sugars and inorganic ions （Na＋. K＋, Cl-, Ca2＋ and mg2＋） concentrations and osmotic adjustment were determined in sixth （youngest） leaf. Salinity caused a substantial biomass reduction in rice seedlings, ψs reduction in IR29 was occurred more than IR651. Water potential decreased in both the cultivars under stress conditions, but IR651 was able to maintain higher ψw and kept better growth till the end of the experiment. osmotic adjustment was observed in IR651 was about 10 times more than in IR29. K＋ accumulation decreased in both cultivars under stress condition while Na＋ accumulation increased in both the cultivars with higher increase in IR29 seedlings. CI concentration increased in youngest leaf of both IR29 and IR651. our results showed that tolerant cultivar was able to make osmotic adjustment faster than the sensitive cultivar using high accumulation of solutes especially total soluble sugars.

Analysis of Contact melting Driven by Surface Heat flux Around a Cylinder

The contact melting of phase change material around a moving horizontal cylindrical heat source, which descended under its own weight, is investigated in this article. A melting model under constant surface heat flux is established. The analytical results for thickness and pressure distributions inside melt layer and steady melting velocity are obtained by using contact melting theory. The melting law is discussed, and compared with that of contact melting driven by temperature difference. It is found that quasi-steady melting velocity is determined by heat flux of heat source, and the variation of heat source density has less effect on melting velocity.

We introduce a technique for increasing density in optical data storage systems. This technique is based on the use of a superresolving filter at the pupil of a confocal readout system. The main characteristic of this confocal readout system is that the light beam traverses twice through the pupil filter. We describe how to analyze the system performance for general filters, but we focus the study on filters with no focus displacement. Although the storage density attainable depends on the filter characteristics, we show that the storage density can be easily duplicated.

Preparation of Ga_2o_3 thin film solar-blind photodetectors based on mixed-phase structure by pulsed laser deposition

Gallium oxide(Ga_2o_3) thin films were deposited on a-Al2o3(1120) substrates by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) with different oxygen pressures at 650?C. By reducing the oxygen pressure, mixed-phase Ga_2o_3 films with α and β phases can be obtained, and on the basis of this, mixed-phase Ga_2o_3 thin film solar-blind photodetectors(SBPDs) were *** the responsivities of the mixed-phase Ga_2o_3 SBPDs and the single β-Ga_2o_3 SBPDs at a bias voltage of 25 V,it is found that the former has a maximum responsivity of approximately 12 A/W, which is approximately two orders of magnitude larger than that of the latter. This result shows that the mixed-phase structure of Ga_2o_3 thin films can be used to prepare high-responsivity SBPDs. moreover, the cause of this phenomenon was investigated, which will provide a feasible way to improve the responsivity of Ga_2o_3 thin film SBPDs.

Skeletal health relies on architectural integrity and sufficient bone mass, which are maintained through a tightly regulated equilibrium of bone resorption by osteoclasts and bone formation by osteoblasts. Genetic studies have linked the gene coding for low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein1(Lrp1) to bone traits but whether these associations are based on a causal molecular relationship is unknown. Here, we show that Lrp1 in osteoblasts is a novel regulator of osteoclast activity and bone *** lacking Lrp1 specifically in the osteoblast lineage displayed normal osteoblast function but severe osteoporosis due to highly increased osteoclast numbers and bone resorption. osteoblast Lrp1 limited receptor activator of Nf-κB ligand(RANKL) expression in vivo and in vitro through attenuation of platelet-derived growth factor(PDGf-BB) signaling. In co-culture, Lrp1-deficient osteoblasts stimulated osteoclastogenesis in a PDGfRβ-dependent manner and in vivo treatment with the PDGfR tyrosine kinase inhibitor imatinib mesylate limited RANKL production and led to complete remission of the osteoporotic phenotype. These results identify osteoblast Lrp1 as a key regulator of osteoblast-to-osteoclast communication and bone mass through a PDGf–RANKL signaling axis in osteoblasts and open perspectives to further explore the potential of PDGf signaling inhibitors in counteracting bone loss as well as to evaluate the importance of functional LRP1 gene variants in the control of bone mass in humans.

In this paper, we define the generalized r-Whitney numbers of the first and second kind. moreover, we drive the generalized Whitney numbers of the first and second kind. The recurrence relations and the generating functions of these numbers are derived. The relations between these numbers and generalized Stirling numbers of the first and second kind are deduced. furthermore, some special cases are given. finally, matrix representation of the relations between Whitney and Stirling numbers is given.

青藏高原及其周边的块体,包括印度板块、拉萨地块、羌塘地块、塔里木板块、欧龙布鲁克地块、中祁连地块、阿拉善地块、华北板块、扬子板块、中伊朗地块和阿曼等,以及各块体之间造山带的复杂演化历史是地球科学研究的前沿和热点.成冰系和埃迪卡拉系广泛分布于该地区的各个构造单元,其中阿曼、印度板块、扬子板块以及塔里木板块发育有相对完整的成冰系和埃迪卡拉系;而在中伊朗地块、南羌塘地块、中祁连地块、阿拉善地块及华北板块,目前已知仅有埃迪卡拉系发育.基于前人对青藏高原及其周边地区成冰系和埃迪卡拉系的研究,结合第二次青藏高原综合科学考察研究项目开展以来获得的新资料和研究进展,本文建立了该地区成冰系和埃迪卡拉系代表性地层序列对比表.在此基础上,本文梳理了该地区这一时期生物群和重大地质事件的研究现状和存在的问题.结果表明,该地区各板块埃迪卡拉纪化石的保存和组合面貌各具特色,但普遍发现有典型埃迪卡拉纪末期化石分子Cloudina和Shaanxilithes;除成冰纪两次全球性冰期事件外,在青藏高原北缘各块体(华北板块、阿拉善地块、北祁连构造带、中祁连地块、欧龙布鲁克地块、塔里木板块)以及伊朗中南部普遍记录了一次埃迪卡拉纪晚期的冰川事件,但该事件的时限、分布范围和成因有待进一步揭示;同时,埃迪卡拉纪中期DoUNCE/Shruam碳同位素负异常事件在青藏高原周边地区也具有广泛记录.综合现有研究资料发现,在成冰纪-埃迪卡拉纪期间,青藏高原及其周边地区大多数块体从罗迪尼亚超大陆裂解出来后,可能通过泛非运动构成东冈瓦纳大陆的一部分,而部分板块(如华北板块)位于冈瓦纳大陆和劳伦大陆之间.总体而言,该地区的主要块体在成冰纪-埃迪卡拉纪期间具体的古地理演化模型存在较多争议,亟需开展进一步的研究工作.

The imbalance between pathogenic and protective T cell subsets is a cardinal feature of autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis(mS).Emerging evidence indicates that endogenous and dietary-induced changes in fatty acid metabolism have a major impact on both T cell fate and *** date,however,the molecular mechanisms that underlie the impact of fatty acid metabolism on T cell physiology and autoimmunity remain poorly ***,we report that stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1(SCD1),an enzyme essential for the desaturation of fatty acids and highly regulated by dietary factors,acts as an endogenous brake on regulatory T-cell(Treg)differentiation and augments autoimmunity in an animal model of mS in a T cell-dependent *** by RNA sequencing and lipidomics analysis,we found that the absence of Scd1 in T cells promotes the hydrolysis of triglycerides and phosphatidylcholine through adipose triglyceride lipase(ATGL).ATGL-dependent release of docosahexaenoic acid enhanced Treg differentiation by activating the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor *** findings identify fatty acid desaturation by SCD1 as an essential determinant of Treg differentiation and autoimmunity,with potentially broad implications for the development of novel therapeutic strategies and dietary interventions for autoimmune disorders such as mS.
