This study considers the forced convection of laminar TiO2-water nanofluid flow in a parallel plate microchannel. The small length scale associated with microchannels dictates the use of slip condition at the fuid-solid interface. The modified Buongiorno model was employed for the nanofiuid to fully account for the effects of non-uniform viscosity and thermal conductivity. The partial differential equa- tions associated with conservation laws were reduced to two-point ordinary boundary value differential equations before being numerically solved. Considering Brownian motion and thermophoresis, the effects of nanoparticle transport on concentration, velocity, and temperature profiles were analyzed for three different values of wall heat flux. To assess the efficiency of adding nanoparticles, the ratios of the pres- sure drop and the heat transfer coefficient of the nanofluid to that of the base fluid were studied in detail. from analyzing different heat flux ratios, one-sided heating was found to be most efficient at enhancing the heat transfer rate in the microchannel. Additionally, in the presence of the slip velocity, the increase in the value of the heat transfer coefficient for the nanofluid was smaller than that for the base fluid.

Radius of ceramic cone can largely contribute into final solution of analytic models of penetration into ceramic/metal *** the present research,a modified model based on radius of ceramic cone was presented for ceramic/aluminum *** order to investigate and evaluate accuracy of the presented analytic model,obtained results were compared against the results of the florence’s analytic model and also against numerical modeling *** phenomenon of impact onto ceramic/aluminum composites were modeled using smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)implemented utilizing ABAQUS *** indicated that,with increasing initial velocity and ceramic thickness and decreasing support layer thickness,the radius of ceramic cone decreases;this ends up increasing residual velocity of the projectile and penetration time and extending the area across which the pressure is *** findings indicate enhanced levels of target energy absorption and the required energy for bending and tensioning the *** such,it can be observed that,at the same thickness and areal density,the ceramic target has its efficiency enhanced with increasing ceramic thickness and decreasing the support layer ***,the results revealed that the associated data with SPH confirm the modified analytic model at higher accuracy than the florence’s analytic model.

Various simulation tools were used to develop an effective intelligent system to predict the effects of temperature and pressure on an oil extraction yield. Pomegranate oil was extracted using a supercritical CO2 （SC-CO2） process. Several simulation systems including a back-propagation neural network （BPNN）, a radial basis function neural network （RBfNN） and an adaptive- network-based fuzzy inference system （ANfIS） were tested and their results were compared to determine the best predictive model. The performance of these networks was evaluated using the coefficient of determination （R^2） and the mean square error （MSE）. The best correlation between the predicted and the experimental data was achieved using the BPNN method with an R^2 of 0.9948.

Removal of dyestuffs such as Acidic fuchsine(Af)and Malachite Green(MG)being present in many forms in industries is vital to protect water reservoirs from their catastrophic effects on the *** study attempts to effectively eliminate these dyes using a low-cost and eco-friendly ***,as a biocompatible by-product,was initially characterized,then some modifications were conducted,and its morphology and chemical structure were then examined through(Atomic force microscopy)AfM,(fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)fTIR,(Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy)EDS and(Brunauer–Emmett–Teller)BET *** revealed that the modifications on raw material gave rise to a natural nano-adsorbent presenting porous medium appropriate for targeted adsorbate molecules with the average particle size and average pore diameter of 54 and^2 nm,*** groups on the adsorbent surface were also of importance to assist the adsorption of Af and *** effect of contact time,adsorbent dose,solution p H and initial concentration was ***-second order model accurately correlated the experimental kinetic data for both ***,the participation of intra-particle diffusion along with film diffusion in controlling the process was *** isotherm model fitted very well to the equilibrium data for both dyes and maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of Af and MG was accordingly calculated to be 5000 and 3333.33 mg·g-1 *** inherent characteristics of eggshell make it a potential material to remove contaminants from wastewater in future applications.

Objective:To evaluate the biomarkers of oxidative stress in herpes zoster patients compared with control ***:This study compared the nitric oxide(NO),hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2),malon dialdehyde,uric acid,and bilirubin levels between 43 herpes zoster patients and 47 age-matched control *** area under the curve of the receiver operating characteristic curve was performed to evaluate the final logistic regression ***:The significant differences were observed in the serum levels of NO,H2 O2,and malondialdehyde between the case and the control groups(Pfferences were found in both uricacid and bilirubin levels between the ***,the raised oxidant biomarkers were strongly associated with increased disease severity(Pf variables showed that high levels of NO(OR 1.24;95%CI 1.06-1.46;P=0.008)and H2 O2(OR 1.25;95%CI 1.09-1.43;P=0.001)were associated with herpes ***:High levels of NO and H2 O2 were observed in patients with herpes *** NO and H2 O2 levels might be associated with herpes zoster,which needs to be confirmed by further studies.

How reliable is the lacrimal scintigraphy report? An interobserver agreement and reliability study

AIM: To assess the inter-observer agreement and reliability as well as intra-observer repeatability for lacrimal scintigraphy(LS) reports with and without considering the irrigation test ***: A prospective, observational, cross sectional study. Two masked clinicians(lacrimal surgeon and nuclear medicine specialist) independently reported 100 LS images(50 patients of >6 years of age with unilateral anophthalmic socket) in a university hospital. The lacrimal surgeon performed a diagnostic irrigation test and repeated the report of the same LS images 2 y after the first report(intra-observer agreement). A weighted Kappa analysis was performed to determine inter-observer agreement and reliability as well as intra-observer repeatability for the type(normal, partial and complete obstruction) and location(presac, preduct, and intraduct) of the obstruction. Subgroup analysis was also performed with consideration of irrigation test results. RESULTS: A significantly moderate agreement was found between lacrimal surgeon and nuclear medicine specialist for both the type(Kappa=0.55) and location(Kappa=0.48) of obstruction. Agreement values were higher for the type(Kappa=0.61 vs 0.41) and location(Kappa=0.56 vs 0.31) of obstruction in cases with normal than abnormal irrigation test. Strong and significant intraobserver(lacrimal surgeon) repeatability was found for both the type(Kappa=0.66) and location(Kappa=0.69) of obstruction. LS showed no to slight reliability based on irrigation ***: A moderate agreement is found between lacrimal surgeon and nuclear medicine specialist regarding the interpretation of LS suggesting the importance ofconsensus groups among nuclear medicine specialists and lacrimal surgeons to create a common language for interpretation of LS. Intra-observer repeatability is strong for the lacrimal surgeon.
