Studies on the anti-aging properties of bovine whey supplementation on reproductive hormonal profiles and sperm structure and function of adult and senile rats

The purpose of this study was to investigate how well whey might protect against aging related alterations in sperm structure,seminal and antioxidant enzymes and serum hormonal *** Wistar albino rats aged 8 and 30-months were divided into two primary groups with or without whey supplementation(n=8).After the experiments of whey supplementation,the rats were euthanized,blood was collected,and serum was *** ultrastructure and flow cytometry of annexin-V and mitochondrial membrane potential were carried *** antioxidant and malondialdehyde concentrations were *** hormonal profiles of testosterone,growth(GH),follicle stimulating hormone(fSH),luteinizing hormone(LH)and thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)as well as pituitary gland ultrastructure were *** showed that whey supplementation improved the structure and function of sperm and seminal fluid as well as the serum hormonal levels of *** aged rats,whey supplementation increased the serum levels of GH,fSH,LH and TSH as well as seminal superoxide *** supplementation also caused reduction of seminal alkaline and acid phosphatases and lipid peroxidation in aged rat compared to that in adult *** also improved sperm motility and viability but reduced sperm abnormalities by increasing sperm mitochondrial membrane potential and lowering annexin v *** conclusion,whey contains antioxidant components that alleviated oxidative stress involved in damaging sperm macromolecules during aging process.

Ammonium perchlorate(AP)includes oxidizing and reducing elements on the same *** can act as an efficient oxidizer and mono-propellant as *** this study,AP experienced crystallographic phase change from orthorhombic centrosymmetric to non-centrosymmetric under controlled isothermal heat *** diffractograms confirmed this crystallographic phase *** thermal behaviour of activated AP had been investigated using *** AP demonstrated high chemical stability with an increase in endothermic phase transition enthalpy by 170%.The enthalpy of the subsequent two main exothermic decomposition reactions was increased by 250%.Whereas AP demonstrated total decomposition enthalpy of 733 J/g,activated AP showed 2614 J/*** AP can secure self-sustained response at a high *** index(combustion enthalpy/ignition temperature)was employed to assess self-sustained reaction *** AP demonstrated high propagation index of 8.7 compared with 2.5 for un-activated *** decomposition kinetic parameters had investigated using Kissinger and KAS *** AP showed an increase in activation energy by 89%using the Kissinger method;kinetic parameters using the KAS method were in good agreement with the Kissinger *** can have concluded that AP with novel kinetic decomposition parameters for enhanced safety storage and high combustion characteristics has evolved.

Metal-substituted cobalt ferrites [MxCo(1-x)fe2O4(M=Zn,Cu,Mn;x=0.0,0.25,0.5,and 0.75)]were synthesized via a sol-gel *** ferrite structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,surface analysis using the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method,and energy-dispersive X-ray *** activity of these ferrites against selected pathogenic microbes was *** structures remained cubic spinel phases after substitution of *** strongly influenced the microstructure and homoge- neous grain *** particle size of the ferrites increased linearly with increase in their annealing *** surface area of zinc cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (ZCfO)was 52.56m^2/g,the average pore size was 1.84nm,and pore volume was 0.136mL/*** ferrites showed antimicrobial activity toward all pathogens *** these,the most powerful was ZCfO,showing zones of inhibition of 13.0mm against Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus and 12.0mm against Candida ***-irradiated ZCfO nanoparticles (150.0kGy)maintained higher antimicrobial activity than non-irradiated particles,e.g. being active toward *** (16.0mm).ZCfO is proposed as a candidate material for industrial and biomedical purposes.

Objective:To evaluate the hazardous effects of fried potato chips upon the retina of two developmental stages of the albino rats aged 7 and 14 days from ***:Pregnant rats were arranged into two groups:control pregnant rats and consequently their delivered newborns until reaching 7 and 14 days old from parturition and fried potato chips group in which pregnant rats at the 6th day of gestation maintained on diet formed of fried potato chips supplied from the market mixed with standard diet at a concentration of 50%per each till 7 and 14 *** fold integrated approaches were adopted,namely,histological,ultrastructural and proteomic ***:Histological examination of the retina of the experimental offsprings revealed many histopathological changes,including massive degeneration,vacuolization and cell loss in the ganglion cell layer,as well as general reduction in retinal *** the ultrastructural level,the retina of experimental offsprings exhibited number of deformities,including ill differentiated and degenerated nuclear layer,malformed and vacuolated pigment epithelium with vesiculated and fragmented rough endoplasmic reticulum,degenerated outer segment of photoreceptors,as well as swollen choriocapillaris and loss of neuronal *** analysis of retina of the two experimental developmental stages showed variations in the expressed proteins as a result of intoxication which illustrated the adverse toxic effects of fried potato chips upon the ***:It can be concluded that the effect of fried potato chips on the development of retina in rats may be due to the presence of acrylamide or its metabolite.

Aim: Recently, there is an increased average of developing cancers. Though, the chemotherapeutic-treatment is unfavorable during pregnancy due to its harmful effects on developing fetuses, physicians have two ways to minimize these effects either by termination of the pregnancy or minimizing its side effects. The present work aimed to illustrate the susceptibility of cardiac, lung and dorsal aorta function to the widely applicable drugs doxorubicin and cisplatin as well as 5-flurouracil. Materials and Methods: Mother albino rats were arranged into four-groups (control, doxorubicin, cisplatin and 5-flurouracil-treated groups). Each pregnant rat received intraperitoneal administration of 0.2 mg/kg body weight at 10th and 14th day of gestation and sacrificed at parturition (two doses). At parturition, serum of mother rats used to assess troponin I, heat shock protein 70, 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine, vascular endothelial growth factor and adhesion molecules (ICAM-1 & VCAM-1). Isoenzyme electrophoresis of alkaline and acid phosphatases, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and lactic dehydrogenase were estimated in serum, myocardium and dorsal aorta of mother rats. The myocardium and lung were processed for histopathological investigations for both mothers and their offspring. Single strand (comet assay) and double strand DNA damage were carried out in heart and dorsal aorta of mother rats. Results: The present finding revealed that there are detected alterations of myocardial markers and lung amino acid metabolism as well as disruption of myocardial isoenzymes. DNA damage of myocardium and dorsal aorta were observed. Conclusions: The authors concluded that the metabolic activity of heart and lung is highly susceptible to doxorubicin and cisplatin treatment compared to 5-flurouracil and the therapeutic doses must be degraded.

The blend of nickel phthalocyanine （NiPc）（2 wt. %） poly-N-epoxypropylcarbazole （PEPC）, （1 wt. %） and carbon nano-tube （CNT） powder （2 wt. %） in benzole is deposited by drop-casting on glass substrates with pre-deposited metallic electrodes to fabricate Ag/CNT/NiPc/PEPC/A1 surface type cell. It is assumed that the high nonlinearity of the I — V characteristics is related to deep traps in the nano-scale depletion region in NiPc that is observed experimentally. The values of ideality factor and barrier height are determined from the I — V curve and they are found to be 8.4 and 1.05eV, respectively. The values of mobility and conductivity are calculated to be 7.94 × 10？8 cm/Vs and 3.5 × 10？6 Ω？1 cm？1. The values of ideality factor and series resistance are also calculated by using Cheung＇s functions, which are in good agreement with the values calculated from the I — V curve.
