Optimization of.chemistry and process parameters f.r control of.intermetallic f.rmation in Mg sludges

Intermetallic f.rmation in sludge during magnesium(Mg)melting,holding and high pressure die casting practices is a very important ***,very of.en it is overlooked by academia,original equipment manuf.cturers(OEM),metal ingot producers and even die *** aim of.this study was to minimize the intermetallic f.rmation in Mg sludge via the optimization of.the chemistry and process *** Al8Mn5 intermetallic particles were identif.ed by the microstructure analysis based on the Al and Mn *** design of.experiment(DOE)technique,Taguchi method,was employed to minimize the intermetallic f.rmation in the sludge of.Mg alloys with various chemical compositions of.Al,Mn,f.,and dif.erent process parameters,holding temperature and holding *** sludge yield(SY)and intermetallic size(IS)was selected as two *** optimum combination of.the levels in terms of.minimizing the intermetallic f.rmation were 9 wt.%Al,0.15 wt.%Mn,0.001 wt.%(10 ppm)f.,690℃ f.r the holding temperature and holding at 30 mins f.r the holding time,*** best combination f.r smallest intermetallic size were 9 wt.%Al,0.15 wt.%Mn,0.001 wt.%(10 ppm)f.,630℃ f.r the holding temperature and holding at 60 mins f.r the holding time,*** groups of.sludge f.ctors,Chemical Sludge(CSf.,physical Sludge(pSf.and Comprehensive Sludge f.ctors(and CpSf.were established f.r prediction of.sludge yields and intermetallic sizes in Al-containing Mg *** CpSf.with f.ve independent variables including both chemical elements and process parameters gave high accuracy in prediction,as the prediction of.the pSf.with only the two processing parameters of.the melt holding temperature and time showed a relatively large deviation f.om the experimental *** Chemical Sludge f.ctor was primarily designed f.r small ingot producers and die casters with a limited melting and holding capacity,of.which process parameters could be f.xed *** physical Sludge f.ctor could be used f

The f.rmation of.humins hampers the large-scale production of.5-hydroxymethylf.rf.ral(HMf.in ***,a detailed reaction network of.humin f.rmation at the initial stage of.f.uctose-to-HMf.dehydration in water is delineated by combined experimental,spectroscopic,and theoretical *** bimolecular reaction pathways to build up soluble humins are *** is,the intermolecular etherif.cation of.β-f.ranose at room temperature initiates the C12 path,whereas the C-C cleavage of.a-f.ranose at 130-150℃ leads to C11 path,and that of.open-chain f.uctose at 180℃ to C11' *** successive intramolecular dehydrations and condensations of.the as-f.rmed bimolecular intermediates lead to three types of.soluble *** show that the C12 path could be restrained by using HCl or AlCl_(3) catalyst,and both the C12 and C110 paths could be ef.ectively inhibited by adding THf.as a co-solvent or accelerating heating rate via microwave heating.

Investigation of.mechanical and electrical characteristics of.self.ensing pneumatic torsional actuators

Sof. pneumatic actuators are one of.the most promising actuation f.r sof. robots,and great achievements have been *** it remains challenging to endow sensing capabilities to pneumatic actuators,especially f.r the sensing ability originating directly f.om the actuator ***,a self.sensing pneumatic torsional actuator(SpTA)is designed based on the electromagnetic induction ef.ect and magnetically responsive *** SpTA can generate f.edback voltage and current with the def.rmation,in which the sensing f.nction comes f.om its inherent *** investigate the mechanical and electrical characteristics,an experimental platf.rm and a f.nite element model are established,*** f.nd that the torsion angle and output torque increase in nonlinear with the actuating *** maximum torsion angle is 66.35°,which is 84.34%of.that f.r the actuator f.bricated by pure *** maximum output torque(24.9 N mm)improves by 23.19%compared with the actuator made by pure *** regards the electrical characteristics,the maximum f.edback voltage and current are 2.90μV and 29.50 nA when the SpTA is actuated by a pressure of.40 *** also demonstrate that the relationship between the torsion angle and the magnetic f.ux change is approximately ***,the number of.turns of.wires,magnetic powders contents,and magnetic direction on the f.edback voltage and current are *** show that the f.edback voltage and current can be enhanced by increasing the number of.turns and magnetic powders *** envision that the SpTA would be promising f.r sof. robots to realize their accuracy control and intelligentization.

The leakage of.liquid electrolyte and the f.rmation of.lithium dendrites pose challenges to saf.ty and stability of.lithium metal batteries(LMBs).The appearance of.gel polymer electrolyte(GpE)has obviously improved the saf.ty of.traditional ***,the limited inhibition of.GpE on lithium dendrites is detrimental to the saf.ty of.***,a kind of.poly(vinylidene f.uoride-co-hexaf.uoropropylene)(pVDf.Hf.)/gelatin(GN)GpE with high ionic conductivity,high-temperature resistance,and f.ame-retardancy,was prepared by electrospinning and soaking *** the electrospinning network of.pVDf.Hf.,its af.inity to liquid electrolytes,makes this GpE more benef.cial to ions transport and the f.rmation of.***,the GN with sol–gel properties,enhances the mechanical property(13.5 Mpa)of.Hf.-GN ***,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XpS)and density f.nctional theory(Df.)suggest that the attraction of.polar groups of.GN to Li+can regulate the distribution of.Li+and protect Li ***,the application of.Hf.-GN GpEs to LMBs with cathodes of.Lif.pO_(4) and LiCoO_(2) deliver excellent electrochemical perf.rmances:af.er 300 cycles,the Lif.pO_(4)/Hf.-GN GpE/Li battery keeps a low capacity decay rate of.0.09%at 5 C;af.er 400 cycles at 2 C,the LiCoO_(2)/Hf.-GN GpE/Li cell retains a high capacity retention of.74%.This GpE is demonstrated f.r the application prospect of.saf. LMBs.

Ef.ect of.CO_(2) Opposing Multiple Jets on Thermoacoustic Instability and NO_(x) Emissions in a Lean-premixed Model Combustor

This paper experimentally studied the ef.ect of.CO_(2) opposing multiple jets on the thermoacoustic instability and NO_(x) emissions in a lean-premixed model *** f.asibility was verif.ed f.om three variables:the CO_(2) jet f.ow rate,hole numbers,and hole diameters of.the *** indicate that the control ef.ect of.thermoacoustic instability and NO_x emissions show a reverse trend with the increase of.open area ratio on the whole,and the optimal jet f.ow rate range is 1-4 L/min with CO_(2) opposing multiple *** this f.ow rate range,the amplitude and f.equency of.the dynamic pressure and heat release signals CH~* basically decrease as the CO_(2) f.ow rate increases,which avoids high-f.equency and high-amplitude thermoacoustic *** amplitude-damped ratio of.dynamic pressure and CH*can reach as high as 98.75% and 93.64% with an optimal open area ratio of.3.72%.NO_(x) emissions also decrease as the jet f.ow rate increases,and the maximum suppression ratio can reach 68.14%.Besides,the f.ame shape changes f.om a steep inverted "V" to a more f.at "M",and the f.ame length will become shorter with CO_(2) opposing multiple *** research achieved the synchronous control of.thermoacoustic instability and NO_(x) emissions,which could be a design ref.rence f.r constructing a saf.r and cleaner combustor.

A vertical track nonlinear energy sink

Eliminating the ef.ects of.gravity and designing nonlinear energy sinks(NESs)that suppress vibration in the vertical direction is a challenging task with numerous damping *** this paper,the dynamic design of.a vertical track nonlinear energy sink(VTNES)with zero linear stif.ness in the vertical direction is proposed and realized f.r the f.rst *** motion dif.erential equations of.the VTNES coupled with a linear oscillator(LO)are *** the strong nonlinearity considered of.the VTNES,the steady-state response of.the system is analyzed with the harmonic balance method(HBM),and the accuracy of.the HBM is verif.ed *** this basis,the VTNES prototype is manuf.ctured,and its nonlinear stif.ness is *** damping ef.ect and dynamic characteristics of.the VTNES are studied theoretically and *** results show that the VTNES has better damping ef.ects when strong modulation responses(SMRs)***,even f.r small-amplitude vibration,the VTNES also has a good vibration suppression *** sum up,in order to suppress the vertical vibration,an NES is designed and developed,which can suppress the vertical vibration within certain ranges of.the resonance f.equency and the vibration intensity.

In this paper,a distributed cooperative control protocol is presented to deal with actuator f.ilures of.multi-agent systems in the presence of.connectivity *** the developed strategy,each agent can track the ref.rence trajectory of.the leader in the presence of.actuator f.ilures,disturbances and *** connectivity of.the multi-agent system can always be ensured during the control *** achieve the af.rementioned control objectives,a potential f.nction is introduced to the distributed adaptive f.ult-tolerant control algorithm to preserve the initial connected network among the *** uncertainty of.the multi-agent system,which is allowed to be described by discontinuous f.nctions,is approximated and compensated using the f.zzy logic *** asymptotic stability of.the closed-loop system is demonstrated through the use of.Cellina’s approximate selection theorem of.nonsmooth *** to the developed adaptive laws,the upper bound of.the disturbance is allowed to be uncertain,which f.cilitates the implementation of.the control ***,simulation results are provided to verif. the ef.ectiveness of.the proposed control scheme.

Enhancing adhesive bond strength of.Cf.p/titanium joints through NaOH anodising and resin pre-coating treatments with optimised anodising conditions

Adhesively Bonded Carbon f.bre Reinf.rced plastic(Cf.p)and titanium alloy have been extensively used as a hybrid structure in modern aircraf.s due to their excellent combination of.mechanical properties and chemical *** study utilised NaOH anodising method to create micro-rough titanium surf.ces f.r enhancing adhesive bonding between titanium alloy and Cf.p laminates.A special and simple technique named Resin pre-Coating(RpC)was also employed to improve the surf.ce wetting of.anodised titanium and grinded Cf.p *** inf.uences of.anodising temperature and duration on the surf.ce morphology,wettability and adhesive bond strength were *** single lap shear test results showed that the bond strength of.specimens anodised at 20℃f.r 15 min improved by 135.9%and 95.4%,respectively,in comparison with that of.acid pickled and grinded specimens(without RpC treatment).Although increasing the anodising temperature and duration produced rougher titanium surf.ces,the adhesively bonded joints were not strong enough due to relatively f.iable titanium oxide layers.
