Using dislocation-based constitutive modeling in three-dimension crystal plasticity f.nite element(3D CPf.)simulations,co-def.rmation and instability of.hetero-phase interf.ce in dif.erent material systems were herein studied f.r polycrystalline metal matrix composites(MMCs).Local stress and strain f.elds in two types of.3layer MMCs such as f.c/f.c Cu-Ag and f.c/bcc Cu-Nb have been predicted under simple compressive ***,more severe strain-induced interf.ce instability can be observed in the f.c/bcc systems than in the f.c/f.c systems upon ref.ning to metallic nanolayered composites(MNCs).by detailed analysis of.stress and strain localization,it has been demonstrated that the interf.ce instability is always accompanied by high-stress concentration,i.e.,thermodynamic characteristics,or high strain prevention i.e.,kinetic characteristics,at the hetero-phase *** then f.llows that the thermodynamic driving f.rceG and the kinetic energy barrier Q during dislocation and shear banding can be adopted to classif. the def.rmation modes,f.llowing the so-called thermo-kinetic *** by inserting a high density of.high-energy interf.ces into the Cu-Nb composites,such thermo-kinetic integration at the hetero-phase interf.ce allows a successf.l establishment of.MMCs with the high△G-high Q def.rmation mode,which ensures high hardening and unif.rm strain distri-bution,thus ef.iciently suppressing the shear band,stabilizing the hetero-phase interf.ce,and obtaining an exceptional combination in strength and *** hetero-phase interf.ce chosen by a couple of.thermodynamics and kinetics can be def.ned as breaking the thermo-kinetic correlation and has been proposed f.r artif.cially designing MNCs.

Two-Stream Approximation to the Radiative Transf.r Equation:A New Improvement and Comparative Accuracy with Existing Methods

Mathematical modeling of.the interaction between solar radiation and the Earth's atmosphere is f.rmalized by the radiative transf.r equation(RTE), whose resolution calls f.r two-stream approximations among other methods. This paper proposes a new two-stream approximation of.the RTE with the development of.the phase f.nction and the intensity into a third-order series of.Legendre polynomials. This new approach, which adds one more term in the expression of.the intensity and the phase f.nction, allows in the conditions of.a plane parallel atmosphere a new mathematical f.rmulation of.γparameters. It is then compared to the Eddington, Hemispheric Constant, Quadrature, Combined Delta f.nction and Modif.ed Eddington, and second-order approximation methods with ref.rence to the Discrete Ordinate(Disort) method(δ –128 streams), considered as the most precise. This work also determines the conversion f.nction of.the proposed New Method using the f.ndamental def.nition of.two-stream approximation(f.TSA) developed in a previous work. Notably,New Method has generally better precision compared to the second-order approximation and Hemispheric Constant methods. Compared to the Quadrature and Eddington methods, New Method shows very good precision f.r wide domains of.the zenith angle μ 0, but tends to deviate f.om the Disort method with the zenith angle, especially f.r high values of.optical thickness. In spite of.this divergence in ref.ectance f.r high values of.optical thickness, very strong correlation with the Disort method(R ≈ 1) was obtained f.r most cases of.optical thickness in this study. An analysis of.the Legendre polynomial series f.r simple f.nctions shows that the high precision is due to the f.ct that the approximated f.nctions ameliorate the accuracy when the order of.approximation increases, although it has been proven that there is a limit order depending on the f.nction f.om which the precision is lost. background: Sagittal plane placement of.the tibial component in total knee replacement (TKR) has important implications f.r maximizing the range of.f.exion motion, allowing collateral ligaments to f.nction more normally, as well as providing ideal compressive loading on the tibial bone-prosthesis interf.ce. This study attempts to quantif. the normal posterior tibial slope (PTS) angle pre-operatively and post-operatively in osteoarthritic patients af.er using a conventional extramedullary tibial resection guide to assess its ef.ectiveness. Methods: f.rty-nine primary cementless total knee replacements in 34 osteoarthritic patients were measured radiographically pre-operatively and one year post-operatively to determine the PTS and its ef.ect on range of.motion. Lateral X-rays, using the anterior cortical line of.the tibia, were employed f.r all measurements. Results: Pre-operative PTS measured 11.83˚ (range 5˚ - 18˚), while post-operative PTS of.implanted tibial components measured 11.30o (range 4˚ - 18˚). The pre-operative range of.motion of.112˚ (range 30˚ to 135˚) was improved to 119˚ (range 90˚ to 135˚) post-operatively af.er 1 year. Conclusions: Anterior tibial shaf. ref.rencing using a conventional extramedullary tibial resection guide provides an easy and convenient method f.r reproducing the anatomical PTS during TKR. This methodology provided improvement in average range of.motion f.om 112˚ pre-operatively to 119˚ post-operatively at one year.

This study aims to estimate monthly averaged daily horizontal global solar *** climatological data collected at twelve major cities located across Libya’s map were used to establish 7 dif.erent empirical *** empirical coef.icients of.the models were calculated using the least square *** accuracy of.the models was evaluated using dif.erent statistical criteria such as Taylor diagram,mean absolute percentage error,MAPE,and root mean square error,*** results indicated that the sunshine duration-based models are more accurate than air temperature-based models,and the best perf.rmance was obtained by the quadratic regression model f.r all twelve Libyan ***,this regression model can be used f.r the prediction of.monthly mean horizontal global solar radiation at a specif.c site across Libya’s regions with minimum ***,the results of.the global solar irradiance produced by this method can be used f.r designing solar systems applications.

The wear prof.le analysis,obtained by dif.erent tribometers,is essential to characterise the wear ***,most of.the available methods did not take the stress distribution over the wear prof.le in consideration,which causes inaccurate *** this study,the wear prof.le of.polymer–metal contact,obtained by block-on-ring conf.guration under dry sliding conditions,was analysed using f.nite element modelling(f.M)and experimental ***’s wear equation was integrated into a developed f.RTRAN-UMESHMOTION code linked with Abaqus sof.ware.A varying wear coef.icient(k)values covering both running-in and steady state regions,and a range of.applied loads involving both mild and severe wear regions were measured and implemented in the *** f.M was in good agreement with the *** model reproduced the stress distribution prof.les under variable testing conditions,while their values were af.ected by the sliding direction and maximum wear depth(hmax).The largest area of.the wear prof.le,exposed to the average contact stresses,is def.ned as the normal *** the critical zones were characterized by high stress concentrations reaching up to 10 times of.that at the normal *** wear prof.le was mapped to identif. the critical zone where the stress concentration is the key point in this *** surf.ce f.atures were examined in dif.erent regions using scanning electron microscope(SEM).Ultimately,SEM analysis showed severer damage f.atures in the critical zone than that in the normal zone as proven by ***,the literature data presented and considered the wear f.atures the same at any point of.the wear *** this study,the normal zone was determined at a stress value of.about 0.5 MPa,whereas the critical zone was at about 5.5 *** wear behaviour of.these two zones showed totally dif.erent f.atures f.om one another.
