We propose broad supercontinuum spectrum generating highly nonlinear photonic crystal f.ber (HN-PCf. which can be used in ultrahigh- resolution optical coherence tomography and optical transmission systems. Using f.ll vector f.nite dif.erence method, we investigated the dif.erent properties of.HN-PCf. Broadband su-percontinuum spectrum is numerically calculated by using nonlinear Schr?dinger equation. Investigation showed that it is possible to obtain longitudinal resolution in a biological tissue of.1.3 μm, 1.2 μm and 1.1 μm by using picosecond continuum light at center wavelengths of.1.06 μm, 1.31 μm and 1.55 μm, respectively.

The Chamoli earthquake (M6.8) of.29th March 1999 in Himalayan region is one of.the recent devastating earthquakes that has killed more than a f.w hundred lives and caused damage in the vicinity of.Chamoli and Gopeshwar districts of.Gharwal Himalayan region. A wide band (8192 - 0.008 Hz) magnetotelluric (MT) study has been carried out in the epicentral zone af.er the earthquake during May-June, 1999 to understand the processes related to tectonic activity. A total of.23 sites were occupied passing through the epicenter along NE-SW and E-W oriented prof.les passing through the epicenter. In the present study, the results obtained along NE-SW prof.le are presented. The deeper electrical structure shows a north-eastward dipping electrical conductor (50 - 100 Ωm) and correlates well with the regional tectonics of.the region. Interestingly, the concentration of.hypocenters is located at the transition zone of.resistor (brittle) and conductor (ductile) at depths of.around 10 - 15 km. These results are discussed with ref.rence to the seismotectonics of.the region.

The present investigations are associated with designing Morlet wavelet neural network(MWNN)f.r solving a class of.susceptible,inf.cted,treatment and recovered(SITR)f.actal systems of.COVID-19 propagation and *** structure of.an error f.nction is accessible using the SITR dif.erential f.rm and its initial *** optimization is perf.rmed using the MWNN together with the global as well as local search heuristics of.genetic algorithm(GA)and active-set algorithm(ASA),i.e.,*** detail of.each class of.the SITR nonlinear COVID-19 system is also *** obtained outcomes of.the SITR system are compared with the Runge-Kutta results to check the perf.ction of.the designed *** statistical analysis is perf.rmed using dif.erent measures f.r 30 independent runs as well as 15 variables to authenticate the consistency of.the proposed *** plots of.the absolute error,convergence analysis,histogram,perf.rmancemeasures,and boxplots are also provided to f.nd the exactness,dependability and stability of.the MWNN-GA-ASA.

Multiple image watermarking is an advanced concept of.singular watermarking techniques. The existing singular digital image watermarking techniques cannot obtain all the design goals, such as imperceptibility, robustness, security, and capacity simultaneously with perf.ction. Hence, the multiple image watermarking technique is designed that embeds several watermarks into the same host image f.r conveying multiple inf.rmation. This paper proposed a multiple image watermarking technique with Discrete Cosine Transf.rm (DCT) f.r ensuring the low computational time f.r embedding, encryption, decryption as well as extraction of.the watermark images. Here, DCT is used to ensure the visual quality of.the host image, and a random binary matrix is used to improve the security of.the digital image. We have given a basic f.amework f.r multiple image watermarking. Our experimental results show satisf.ctory perf.rmance.

In view of.increasing Microplastics(MPs)contamination in the marine environment and dearth of.baseline data,a study was conducted on the abundance,characterization,and seasonal distribution of.MPs in the nearshore sediments of.the south-east coast of.*** samples(n=130)were collected at a distance of.1 km and 10 km f.om the shore region at varying depths(8–45 m)along the Chennai to Puducherry coast(165 km stretch),representing two seasons,i.e.,south-west(July 2019 and July 2020)and north-east(January 2020)*** average abundance of.MPs at the 22 of.shore sites along the Chennai to Puducherry coast varied f.om 9±4.3 to 19±12.9 particles/50 g dry weight,in July 2019 and January 2020,*** 2020 had an average abundance of.10±4.5 particles/50 g dry ***,high levels of.MPs were f.und at 1km stations and transects in proximity to the river inlets,and temporally,the north-east month recorded the maximum *** dominant morphotype was the f.lament,and the major polymers were polyethylene and *** Electron Microscope(SEM)images revealed the surf.ce irregularity and degradation of.MPs due to *** study highlights that high sediment contamination by MPs occurs during heavy rainf.ll and accumulates closer to river ***,this study suggests that appropriate management of.plastic wastes on the landside will reduce MP contamination in the marine environment.

Objective: To investigate whether piperlongumine can sensitize prostate cancer cells to tumor necrosis f.ctor-related apoptosisinducing ligand(TRAIL) and trigger apoptosis in prostate cells. Methods: Human prostate cancer cell lines PC3, LNCa P, and VCa P were cultured with piperlongumine and TRAIL. Then, cell prolif.ration, migration, caspase activation, apoptotic protein expressions, and death receptor expressions were ***: Piperlongumine inhibited cell prolif.ration at low doses(f.death receptors which potentiated TRAIL-induced apoptosis in cancer cells but did not af.ect decoy receptors. Piperlongumine also downregulated tumor cell-survival pathways, inhibited colony f.rmation and migration of.cancer cells alone or in combination with TRAIL. The combination of.piperlongumine with TRAIL was f.und to be synergistic. Conclusions: Our f.ndings indicate that piperlongumine can sensitize cancer cells to TRAIL through the upregulation of.death receptors and can trigger apoptosis with the downregulation of.antiapoptotic proteins.

The Impact of.Delays during the Pandemic Months on Survival of.Lung Cancer Patients in Canada in 2020

Background and Purpose: Most cancer deaths in the world are due to lung cancer and diagnosis and treatment delays sharply reduce survival in lung cancer patients. This study examined the impact of.delays during the early months of.the pandemic on the survival of.newly identif.ed lung cancer patients in Canada in 2020. Method: This was a secondary data analysis f.om published literature and openly available data sources. Cancer Statistics f.om existing literature were used as a proxy f.r the month-wise distribution of.lung cancer cases in Canada. The incidence of.lung cancer, using population statistics f.om Statistics Canada and incidence rates f.om the Canadian Cancer Statistics in 2020, was estimated. The population-based Excel model employed compounded cuts on the incidence to arrive at the outcomes. *** tool was used to digitize the survival versus time curves f.r each stage f.om secondary sources. Stage-wise incidences f.r each sex were calculated f.r each age group f.r each month of.2020. Using delay impact on each stage the f.nal results were calculated. Results: A total of.5004 lif. years would have been lost due to 448 deaths in the long term (40 months) attributed to the delays caused during March, April, May and June in Canada. The estimated incidence f.r all stages of.lung cancer f.r these months was 9801 although the observed incidence was expected to be 6571 due to reduced screenings. Hence, it was within the missing 3231 cases that delays would occur. Over the short term (10 months) there are expected to be 151 early deaths and 273 deaths in the intermediate-term (20 months). Conclusions: This study using a mathematical model showed that in 2020, the COVID epidemic resulted in higher mortality and f.wer lung cancer diagnoses in Canada. As a result of.the delays in assessment, screening, and treatment that accompanied the pandemic lockdowns, there has been a rise in total lif. years lost due to lung cancer, demonstrating the pandemic’s hug
