control of.dust in underground coal mines is critical f.r mitigating both saf.ty and health *** decades,the National Institute of.Occupational Saf.ty and Health(NIOSH)has led research to evaluate the ef.ectiveness of.various dust control technologies in coal *** studies have included the evaluation of.auxiliary scrubbers to reduce respirable dust downstream of.active mining and the use of.canopy air.curtains(cAcs)to reduce respirable dust in key operator *** detailed dust char.cterization was not a f.cus of.such studies,this is a growing area of.*** preserved f.lter samples f.om three previous NIOSH studies,the current work aims to explore the ef.ect of.two dif.erent scrubbers(one wet and one dry)and a roof.bolter.cAc on respirable dust composition and particle size *** this,the preserved f.lter samples were analyzed by thermogravimetr.c analysis and/or scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive *** indicate that dust composition was not appr.ciably af.ected by either scrubber or the ***,the wet scrubber and cAc appeared to decrease the overall particle size *** an ef.ect of.the dry scrubber was not consistently observed,but this is probably related to the particular sampling location downstream of.the scrubber which allowed f.r signif.cant mixing of.the scrubber exhaust and other return *** f.om the insights gained with respect to the three specif.c dust control case studies revisited here,this work demonstrates the value of.preserved dust samples f.r f.llow-up investigation more broadly.

Uncovering Microstr.cture-Property relationship in Ni-Alloyed f.-Mn-Al-c Low-density Steel Treated by Hot-rolling and Air.cooling Pr.cess

This paper f.cuses on the relationship between the microstr.cture and tensile properties of.f.-Mn-Al-c low-density high-strength steel pr.cesses by hot-rolling and air.cooling pr.cess. The microstr.cture analysis reveals that the combination of.hot-rolling and air.cooling results in the f.rmation of.heterogeneous str.ctures comprising dif.erent-sized γ and B_(2) phases in the low-density steel with the addition of.nickel (Ni). The addition of.Ni promotes the f.rmation of.the B_(2) phase and induces the pinning of.B_(2) phase particles at the γ grain boundaries. This pinning ef.ect ef.ectively hinders the growth of.the γ grains, leading to grain ref.nement. The tensile test results demonstrate that LdS-5Ni (low-density steel, LdS) exhibits excellent high strength and ductility combination, e.g., a tensile strength of.1535 MPa, yield strength of.1482 MPa, and elongation of.23.3%. These remarkable mechanical properties are primarily attributed to the combined strengthening contributions of.grain ref.nement and duplex nano-sized second-phase pr.cipitation hardening.

Ef.ective calcium (ca) management is cr.cial f.r optimizing oil palm cultivation and enhancing crop yield. This study aimed to gain insights into the dynamics of.ca concentration, accumulation, exportation, immobilization, and r.cycling in various oil palm organs relative to plant age. The experiment was conducted at the Agropalma enterprise site in the northeastern region of.Pará State, Brazil, evaluating seven plant age treatments: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 years old. Employing a completely randomized design with f.ur replications. The results demonstrated an age-related increase in ca concentration in petioles, r.chis, arrows, male inf.orescences, peduncles, and f.uits. f.rthermore, ca accumulation exhibited an upward trend in all organs with progressing plant age. Notably, the study revealed an enhanced ca use ef.iciency across all plant organs in correlation with the age of.oil palm cultivation. These f.ndings under.core the dynamic nutritional demands of.oil palm, inf.uencing ca immobilization, cycling, and export throughout its developmental stages. © 2024 the Oil crop research Institute, chinese Academy of.Agr.culture Sciences

Single atom cu-N-c catalysts f.r the electro-reduction of.cO_(2) to cO assessed by rotating ring-disc electrode

The electr.chemical cO_(2) reduction reaction(cO_(2)rr) to controllable chemicals is considered as a promising pathway to store intermittent renewable energy. Herein, a set of.catalysts based on copper-nitrogendoped carbon xerogel(cu-N-c) are successf.lly developed varying the copper amount and the nature of.the copper pr.cursor, f.r the ef.icient cO_(2)rr. The electr.catalytic perf.rmance of.cu-N-c materials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc electrode(rrdE), technique still rarely explored f.r.cO_(2)rr. f.r.comparison, products are also char.cterized by online gas chromatography in a H-cell. The as-synthesized cu-Nc catalysts are f.und to be active and highly cO selective at low overpotentials(f.om -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 M KHcO_(3), while H_(2) f.om the competitive water reduction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. rHE). The optimum copper acetate-derived catalyst containing cu-N_(4) moieties exhibits a cO_(2)-to-cO turnover f.equency of.997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. rHE with a H_(2)/cO ratio of.1.8. These results demonstrate that rrdE conf.guration can be used as a f.asible approach f.r identif.ing electrolysis products f.om cO_(2)rr.

This work explored possibilities of.biodegradable magnesium alloy Mg-3Y preparation by two modern powder metallurgy techniques–spark plasma sintering(SPS)and selective laser melting(SLM).The powder material was consolidated by both methods utilising optimised parameters,which led to very low porosity(∼0.3%)in the SLM material and unmeasurably low porosity in the SPS *** main aim of.the study was the thorough microstr.cture char.cterisation and interrelation between the microstr.cture and the f.nctional properties,such as mechanical strength,def.rmability,and corrosion *** materials showed comparable strength of.110 MPa in tension and compression and relatively good def.rmability of.9%and∼21%f.r the SLM and SPS materials,*** corrosion resistance of.the SPS material in 0.1 M Nacl solution was superior to the SLM one and comparable to the conventional extruded *** digital image correlation during loading and the cross-section analysis of.the corrosion layers revealed that the residual porosity and large strained grains have the dominant negative ef.ect on the f.nctional properties of.the SLM *** the other hand,one of.the primary outcomes of.this study is that the SPS consolidation method is very ef.ective in the preparation of.the W3 biodegradable alloy,resulting in material with convenient mechanical and degradation properties that might f.nd pr.ctical applications.

An innovative micr.crystalline cellulose (Mcc) natural f.bre powder-reinf.rced PLA biocomposite was investigated using the hand lay-up technique. The polymer matrix composite (PMc) samples were prepared by varying the weight percentages (wt.%) of.both PLA matrix and Mcc reinf.rcement: pure PLA/100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50 wt.%, respectively. f.om the results obtained, Mcc powder, with its impressive aspect ratio, proved to be an ideal reinf.rcement f.r the PLA, exhibiting exceptional mechanical properties. It was evident that the 80:20 wt.% biocomposite sample exhibited the maximum improvement in the tensile, f.exural, notched impact, compressive strength and hardness by 28.85%, 20.00%, 91.66%, 21.53% and 35.82%, respectively compared to the pure PLA sample. Similarly, during the thermogravimetr.c analysis (TGA), the same 80:20 wt.% biocomposite sample showed a minimum weight loss of.20% at 400°c, among others. The morphological study using f.eld Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (f.-SEM) revealed that the unif.rm distribution of.cellulose reinf.rcement in the PLA matrix actively improved the mechanical properties of.the biocomposites, especially the optimal 80:20 wt.% sample. Importantly, it was evident that the optimal PLA/cellulose biocomposite sample could be a suitable and alternative sustainable, environmentally f.iendly and biodegradable material f.r semi/str.ctural applications, replacing synthetic and traditional components. © 2024 The Authors.

The complete and incomplete f.sion cross sections f.r ^(6)Li+^(209)Bi were measured using the in-beamγ-ray method around the coulomb *** cross sections of.deuteron captured)incomplete f.sion(Icf.products were re-quantif.ed experimentally f.r this reaction *** results reveal that the Icf.cross section is equivalent to that of.complete f.sion(cf.above the coulomb barrier and dominant near or below the coulomb barrier.A theoretical calculation based on the continuum discretized coupled channel(cdcc)method was perf.rmed f.r the af.rementioned cf.and Icf.cross sections;the result is consistent with the *** universal f.sion f.nction(Uf.)was also compared with the measured cf.cross section f.r dif.erent barrier parameters,demonstrating that the cf.suppression f.ctor is signif.cantly inf.uenced by the choice of.potential,which can ref.ect both dynamic and static ef.ects of.breakup on the f.sion pr.cess.

The levered-dual response(LEdAr.coulomb-damped system attains near resonant vibration isolation by dif.erential preloads/of.sets in linear *** takes the advantages of.both the preloads/of.sets in linear springs and the guiderail f.0}tion f.r realizing dif.erent levels of.vibration *** isolation capacities are investigated on the strategies with both the horizontal and vertical guiderails,with the horizontal rail only,and without *** compressive preloads generally result in the consumption of.most of.the initial excitation energy so as to overcome the potential *** isolation onsets at the f.equency ratio of.1∓0.095 on the lef.-hand side(LHS)and the right-hand side(rHS)of.the lever are relative to the load plate *** observed near resonant isolation thus makes the LEdAr system a candidate f.r the isolation of.the mechanical systems about resonance while opening a path f.r simultaneous harvesterisolation f.nctions and passive f.nctions at extreme f.equencies.
