Adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines and their association with depressive symptoms in adolescents: Evidence from Bangladesh

Healthy movement behaviours are associated with various physical and mental wellbeing;however,little is known about such associations in low-and middle-income *** aim of this study was to examine adherence to 24-hour(h)movement guidelines and their relationship with depressive symptoms in *** were from 312 Bangladeshi adolescents aged 13-17 years(42%female).Meeting the guidelines was defined as:energy expenditure for physical activity(PA)1680 Metabolic Equivalent of Task(MET)-min/week,2 h/day of recreational screen time(ST),and 8-10 h/night of *** symptoms were assessed using the 10-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale(CESD-10)with a score of 10 or more indicating high depressive *** of adolescents meeting the three recommendations was 2.2%,with 17.6%meeting two,and 31.2%meeting one *** estimating equations showed that odds of having high depressive symptoms was a third(odds ratio[OR]=0.35,95%confidence interval[CI],0.19-0.57)for meeting the PA guidelines,and about a half(OR=0.47,95%CI,0.18-0.87)for meeting the sleep *** of depressive symptoms reduced significantly for meeting PA and sleep(OR=0.20,95%CI,0.09-0.59),or PA and ST(OR=0.24,95%CI,0.08-0.55)*** half of the adolescents did not meet any recommendations,which underscores the need for public health campaigns to promote adherence to the movement guidelines in this pediatric *** longitudinal research with larger sample size is recommended to explore the inter-relationships of these behaviours and their impact on health and wellbeing outcomes of adolescents in Bangladesh.

The prevalence of obesity among children and adolescents (aged 2–18 years) has increased rapidly, with more than 100 million affected in 2015. Moreover, the epidemic of obesity in this population has been an important public health problem in developed and developing countries for the following reasons. Childhood and adolescent obesity tracks adulthood obesity and has been implicated in many chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, childhood and adolescent obesity is linked to adulthood mortality and premature death. Although an imbalance between caloric intake and physical activity is a principal cause of childhood and adolescent obesity, environmental factors are exclusively important for development of obesity among children and adolescents. In addition to genetic and biological factors, socioenvironmental factors, including family, school, community, and national policies, can play a crucial role. The complexity of risk factors for developing obesity among children and adolescents leads to difficulty in treatment for this population. Many interventional trials for childhood and adolescent obesity have been proven ineffective. Therefore, early identification and prevention is the key to control the global epidemic of obesity. Given that the proportion of overweight children and adolescents is far greater than that of obesity, an effective prevention strategy is to focus on overweight youth, who are at high risk for developing obesity. Multifaceted, comprehensive strategies involving behavioral, psychological, and environmental risk factors must also be developed to prevent obesity among children and adolescents.

NOAA/AVHRR sea surface temperature accuracy in the East/Japan Sea

Sea surface temperature(SST)retrieved from Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer(AVHRR)onboard National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA)polar orbiting environmental satellites were validated in the East/Japan Sea(EJS)using surface drifter measurements as ground truths from 2005 to ***,the root-mean-square(rms)errors of multichannel SSTs(MCSSTs)and non-linear SSTs(NLSSTs)using global SST coefficients were approximately 0.85℃ and 0.80℃,*** analysis of the SST errors(satellite-drifter)revealed a dependence on the amount of atmospheric *** addition,satellite-derived SSTs tended to be related to wind speeds,particularly during the *** SST errors also demonstrated diurnal variations with relatively higher rms from 0.80℃ to 1.00℃ during the night than the day,with a small rms of about 0.50℃.Bias also exhibited reasonable diurnal differences,showing small biases during the *** a satellite zenith angle has been considered in the global SST coefficients,its effect on the SST errors still remained in case of the *** the diverse use of SST data,the continuous validation and understanding of the characteristic errors of satellite SSTs should be conducted based on extensive in-situ temperature measurements in the global ocean as well as local seas.

Background:Grounded in intersectionality theory,this study examined the 6-year prevalence trend and correlates in meeting Canada’s 24-Hour Movement Guidelines(Guidelines hereafter)in a nationally representative adolescent samples of South Korea(officially the Republic of Korea).Methods:Self-reported,annually repeated cross-sectional data collected between 2013 and 2018 were used(n=372,433,12-17 years old,47.9%females).Adolescents were categorized as meeting or not meeting different sets of physical activity,screen time(ST),and sleep recommendations within the Guidelines,separately for weekdays and weekend *** correlates included sex and social class(i.e.,family economic status,parental education level,and academic performance).Multiple logistic regression analyses were ***:Overall,the proportion of adolescents meeting physical activity,ST,and sleep recommendations were 5.3%,60.3%,and 10.2%on weekdays and 5.3%,28.2%,and 46.4%on weekend days,*** 2013 and 2018,no substantial changes were observed for meeting the physical activity or sleep recommendation,while meeting the ST recommendation was markedly lower in *** proportion of meeting all 3 recommendations were 0.5%for weekdays and 0.8%for weekend ***,compared to female adolescents,male adolescents were consistently associated with more favorable patterns of meeting different sets of recommendations,regardless of social *** females only,social class appeared to be not important or even detrimental in meeting different sets of *** male,compounded with social class,was associated with meeting the ST ***:Less than 1%of Korean adolescents met the overall ***-based analysis and intervention may be important in promoting healthy active lifestyles among South Korean adolescents.

Monocyte/macrophage lineage cells are highly plastic and can differentiate into various cells under different environmental stimuli. Bone-resorbing osteoclasts are derived from the monocyte/macrophage lineage in response to receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL). However, the epigenetic signature contributing to the fate commitment of monocyte/macrophage lineage differentiation into human osteoclasts is largely unknown. In this study, we identified RANKL-responsive human osteoclast-specific superenhancers (SEs) and SE-associated enhancer RNAs (SE-eRNAs) by integrating data obtained from ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, nuclear RNA-seq and PRO-seq analyses. RANKL induced the formation of 200 SEs, which are large clusters of enhancers, while suppressing 148 SEs in macrophages. RANKL-responsive SEs were strongly correlated with genes in the osteoclastogenic program and were selectively increased in human osteoclasts but marginally presented in osteoblasts, CD4+ T cells, and CD34+ cells. In addition to the major transcription factors identified in osteoclasts, we found that BATF binding motifs were highly enriched in RANKL-responsive SEs. The depletion of BATF1/3 inhibited RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation. Furthermore, we found increased chromatin accessibility in SE regions, where RNA polymerase II was significantly recruited to induce the extragenic transcription of SE-eRNAs, in human osteoclasts. Knocking down SE-eRNAs in the vicinity of the NFATc1 gene diminished the expression of NFATc1, a major regulator of osteoclasts, and osteoclast differentiation. Inhibiting BET proteins suppressed the formation of some RANKL-responsive SEs and NFATc1-associated SEs, and the expression of SE-eRNA:NFATc1. Moreover, SE-eRNA:NFATc1 was highly expressed in the synovial macrophages of rheumatoid arthritis patients exhibiting high-osteoclastogenic potential. A Study on Smart Home Design Incorporating Ubiquitous Healthcare Services

The smart home using ubiquitous technology can effectively provide services to the elderly and the physically impaired. However, such services are accompanied by high initial cost of installation and the operating inefficiency due to the absence of design guidelines. To solve these, the integrated management of the process by supplying the public service like voucher schemes to the dwelling is needed. This paper mainly proposes a research about the healthcare service in a residential environment, which includes medical service and safety service and so on, by surveying the voucher program and the in-house infra status. Finally, the house planning elements for healthcare-based smart home are drawn and the planning directions through expert survey are suggested. Therefore, this study surveyed on voucher program and in-house infra status, and drew the house planning elements for health-based care smart home. In addition, this study suggested the planning direction through expert survey. This study can be used as a guideline for constructing a smart home, which supplies healthcare service.
