Investigations were carried out on spatial and seasonal composition, distribution and abundance of phytoplankton in Adjin lagoon located in south-eastern of Côte d’Ivoire. Samples were collected at six stations during the four seasons in 2013 year. Freshwater inflow from Bété, Djibi and Mé Rivers influenced the variability of nutrients concentration in this lagoon. From a seasonal point of view, the parameters studied are significantly affected by freshwater inputs during the rainy season. This period is characterized by high values of turbidity, suspended solids and nutrients in the water. Overall, 66 taxa from six phyla were recorded. The Chlorophyta had the highest species diversity and Cyanobacteria had the highest relative abundance throughout the year. The temporal distribution of phytoplankton showed that the highest values of density were recorded in the long rainy season and the lowest values in the long dry season. Spatially, the highest abundance (297,927 × 103 cells·L-1) of phytoplankton was found in station 3 and the lowest (74,222 × 103 cells·L-1) in the station 5.

Pelvic ultrasound is the first-line examination for the diagnosis of ovarian cysts. When coupled with Doppler, it allows the diagnosis to be directed towards the benign or malignant nature of the cyst. These benign tumors are frequent in pubertal period. We report a descriptive study in 35 patients aged between 18 and 32 years of age who received a pelvic inflammatory etiology assessment. The purpose of this study was to show the place of pelvic ultrasound in the diagnosis of ovarian cysts.

Helicoverpa armigera is a key insect pest of tomatoes reducing drastically yields. The effect of the endophytic colonization of tomato plants by Beauveria bassiana using leaf spray as an inoculation method on damage and survival of H. armigera was assessed in a screen house. Two B. bassiana isolates (Bb 115 and Bb 11) and two tomato varieties (a local variety Tounvi and an improved variety Padma) were included in the study. The adaxial and abaxial leaf surfaces were sprayed at a concentration of 107 conidia/ml and 109 conidia/ml for each isolate and each of the two tomato varieties. Thirty days after inoculation, five discs of tomato leaf and tomato root were cut for each isolate, each concentration per isolate and for each variety. The samples were incubated at room temperature (28°C ± 2°C) and periodically checked for fungal growth. Larval survival was checked and a damage assessment was done on tomato flowers and the leaves. The results show that the lowest Mean Survival Times (MSTs) were recorded on larvae feeding on plants inoculated with Bb 11 (4.2 ± 0.8 days against 11.5 ± 0.2 days for control). Compared to the other treatments, low damage rates of the flowers of the improved variety inoculated with Bb 11 at 109 conidia/ml were recorded from the 6th Day After Inoculation (DAI). This rate remains low until the end of treatment. Overall flower damage was lower than leaf damage. The results showed large differences in pathogenicity, with most endophytic isolate belonging to Bb 11 when inoculated at 109 conidia/ml using the leaf spraying technique. Data were discussed with regard to the use of endophytism B. bassiana in an integrated tomato pest control approach.

Occurrence Delays of Metastatic Relapses of Breast Cancers Treated at University Hospital of Treichville (Abidjan-Cote d’Ivoire)

Objective: Describe the occurrence delays of metastatic relapses of breast cancer based on the characteristics of the original tumor. Methodology: This is a retrospective and cohort study conducted from January 2000 to December 2015 on patients with metastatic relapse of breast cancer. Results: Out of 178 patients collected, the metastatic relapses were estimated at 49%, occurring in patients with an average age of 53.4 years. The majority of the patients was educated (91.6%) and did not have a high socioeconomic level (88.2%). The initial tumors were mainly at a clinical stage III (47.8%), SBR grade III (47.2%), high index Ki 67 (46.5%), negative RH (79.3%) and HER2 negative (58%). Metastases were unique in general (62.9%), dominated by bone locations (36.6%), with an average age of occurrence of 2.4 years. After the occurrence of these metastases, the cumulative survival rate was 5% at 3 years, and zero to 5 years. Conclusion: Metastatic relapses were common with poor prognosis.

随着分析技术灵敏度的不断改进以及新的污染物的出现,提高实验室用水的纯度水平已经成为持久不变的目标。新的污染物的出现以及对水中极低浓度水平污染物的检测能力的提高对科学家和水纯化系统的研发人员提出了一个持续的挑战。科学界必须对可能影响实验室分析的这些污染物保持警惕。此外,这些污染物的浓度水平也是我们需要关注的一个方面。科学家们和供水系统的制造商必须一起合作,以确保现有的纯化技术能够有效地去除那些可能影响实验室结果的污染物,并根据需要来设计新的策略。
