AIm： To generate and characcerize the synthetic transoiptional control units for transcriptional targeting of the liver, thereby compensating for the lack of specificity of currently available gene therapeutic vector systems. mETHODS： Synthetic transcriptional control unit constructs were generated and analyzed for transcriptional activities in different cell types by FACS quantification, semi-quantitative RT-PCR, and Western blotting. RESULTS： A new bifunctionally-enhanced green fluorescent protein （EGFP）/neor fusion gene cassette was generated, and could flexibly be used both for transcript quantification and for selection of stable cell clones. Then, numerous synthetic transcriptional control units consisting of a minimal promoter linked to “naturally” derived composite enhancer elements from liver-specific expressed genes or binding sites of liver-specific transcription factors were inserted upstream of this reporter cassette. Following liposome-mediated transfection, EGFP reporter protein quantification by FACS analysis identified constructs encoding multimerized composite elements of the apolipoprotein B100 （APOB） promoter or the ornithin transcarbamoylase （OTC） enhancer to exhibit maximum transcriptional activities in liver originating cell lines, but only background levels in non-liver originating cell lines. In contrast, constructs encoding only singular binding sites of liver-specific transcription factors, namely hepatocyte nuclear factor （HNF）, HNF3, HNF4, HNF5, or CAAT/enhancer binding protein （C/EBP） only achieved background levels of EGFP expression. Finally, both semi-quantitative RT-PCR and Western blotting analysis of Hep3B cells demonstrated maximum transcriptional activities for a multimeric 4xAPOB cassette construct, which fully complied with the dataobtained by initial FACS analysis CONCLUSION： Synthetic transcriptional control unit constructs not only exhibit a superb degree of structural compactness, but also provide new means for liver

Far from the financial gains of cyber crooks, the informed observer will see in cyber crookery a complex field of psychopathological expression where addictions and ritualistic practices intermingle. We thus carried out a qualitative observational study, focusing on a young Ivorian cyber-escroc, hard drug user and follower of mystical practices taken in charge by a multidisciplinary team during a resocialization course for children in conflict with the law from November to December 2022. The aim was to describe the difficulties experienced by a young Ivorian cyber crook in escaping the clutches of occult practices, internet addictions and psychoactive substances encountered in the field of cyber crookery. KA is confronted with the problem of cybercrime associated with occult practices and drug addiction. He is a heroin addict and secondary internet addict, undergoing de facto detoxification and presenting risky consumption behaviors. His fear is fuelled by the sudden death of his childhood friend, who introduced him to cyber-scams and occult practices, and the impossibility of returning his “Agbaladai” fetish when he can no longer honor the weekly sacrifices. Our results show an interweaving of psychopathological entities, namely cyberaddiction and addiction to psychoactive substances, against a backdrop of mystico-cultural practices and interpretations.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) is an almost uniformly lethal disease with less than 5% survival at five years. This is largely due to metastatic disease, which is already present in the majority of patients when diagnosed. Even when the primary cancer can be removed by radical surgery, local recurrence occurs within one year in 50%-80% of cases. Therefore, it is imperative to develop new approaches for the treatment of advanced cancer and the prevention of recurrence after surgery. Tumour-targeted oncolytic viruses(TOVs) have become an attractive therapeutic agent as TOVs can kill cancer cells through multiple mechanisms of action, especially via virus-induced engagement of the immune response specifically against tumour cells. To attack tumour cells effectively, tumour-specific T cells need to overcome negative regulatory signals that suppress their activation or that induce tolerance programmes such as anergy or exhaustion in the tumour microenvironment. In this regard, the recent breakthrough in immunotherapy achieved with immune checkpoint blockade agents, such as anti-cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associate protein 4, programmed death 1(PD-1) or PD-L1 antibodies, has demonstrated the possibility of relieving immune suppression in PDAC. Therefore, the combination of oncolytic virotherapy and immune checkpoint blockade agents may synergistically function to enhance the antitumour response, lending the opportunity to be the future for treatment of pancreatic cancer.

The rapid spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has led to general psychosis among the population in Ivory Coast. The medical profession, on the front line of the treatment, was in distress, given the risk of exposure to the patient. It is in this context that this study has set itself the objective of studying anxiety among caregivers involved in the management of people with COVID-19. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study that included a sample of 50 stakeholders. It took place from July to September 2020 at the Treatment Center of the Village of Information Technologies and Biotechnology in Grand-Bassam (VITIB) and the Infectious Diseases Treatment Center (CTmI) of the University Hospital (CHU) of Cocody. The results indicate that caregivers were male in 52% of cases with an average age of 36 years. These are: doctors, nurses and caregivers respectively in the proportions of 18%, 42% and 40% with more than half (58%) who had more than 5 years of seniority. A proportion of 34% of caregivers felt they were insufficiently protected. The Hamilton Scale assessment of anxiety showed that 14% had mild anxiety, 6% moderate anxiety and 2% severe anxiety. There was no link between the degree of anxiety and professional seniority but also between the degree of anxiety and the marital situation. This work has therefore made it possible to see that anxiety is a real problem for caregivers dedicated to the management of COVID-19 patients.

Fruit and leaf shoot of litchi （Litchi chinensis） infestation by naturally occurring populations of the fruit bprer, Conopomorpha sinensis larvae and C. sinensis parasitization rates were determined in litchi orchards in northern Thailand at high （ca. 1 400 m ASL） and low （ca. 800 m ASL） elevations with different, non-overlapping fruiting seasons. In addition, spray applications of Bacillus thuringiensis var. aizawai, the natural compound spinosad and the chemical pesticide imidacloprid were conducted in the field to test the effects of these agents on C. sinensis fruit infestation rate. Fruit infestation rate and fruit growth, studied in a low elevation orchard, were sigmoidal and showed a highly significant positive correlation （P ≤ 0.01）. Leaf shoot infestation rate in the low elevation orchard decreased in the course of the fruiting season （march until may）, but increased in the high elevation orchard, where no fruits were present within the same period of time. Together, these results indicate that females of C. sinensis clearly prefer fruits over shoots for oviposition. If no fruits are available, which was the case in the high elevation orchard during that time, they are constrained to lay their eggs on shoots. The parasitization rate of C. sinensis larvae in untreated fruits was 54.3%. The parasitoid species were Chelonus chailini （90.8%） and Phanerotoma sp. （9.2%）. In the leaf shoots, C. sinensis was found to be parasitized by Phanerotoma sp. and Apanteles briareus. The applications of the different active agents had no significant effect on C. sinensis fruit infestation compared to the untreated control. Besides the cryptic life of the larvae, this is most probably explained by the fact that C. sinensis has several generations during the fruiting season. Because of the high parasitization rates recorded, an alternative and more effective control measure than the application of pesticides might be the augmentative release of parasitoids.

The phytohormone auxin triggers root growth inhibition within seconds via a *** members of the TIR1/AFB auxin receptor family,AFB1 has a primary role in this rapidresponse. However, the unique features that confer this specific function have not been *** we show that the N-terminal region of AFB1, including the F-box domain and residues thatcontribute to auxin binding,is essential and sufficient for its specific role in the rapid response. Substitutionof the N-terminal region of AFB1 with that of TIR1 disrupts its distinct cytoplasm-enriched localizationand activity in rapid root growth inhibition by auxin. Importantly, the N-terminal region of AFB1 isindispensable for auxin-triggered calcium influx, which is a prerequisite for rapid root growth ***, AFB1 negatively regulates lateral root formation and transcription of auxin-induced genes,suggesting that it plays an inhibitory role in canonical auxin signaling. These results suggest that AFB1may buffer the transcriptional auxin response, whereas it regulates rapid changes in cell growth thatcontributeto rootgravitropism.

The aim of this study was to develop a new approach for the preparation of environmentally friendly, high-value products from oily cold rolling mill(CRm) sludge. Utilizing oily CRm sludge as a source of iron, strontium hexaferrite(SrFe_(12)O_(19)) powders were prepared by multi-step processes involving acid leaching, chemical conversion treatment, and synthesis by a citrate precursor. The influences of citric acid dosage and the pH of the sol system on the formation, crystallite size, and magnetic properties of the obtained SrFe_(12)O_(19) powders were investigated. High saturation magnetization(74.8 mA·m^2·g^(–1)) and intrinsic coercivities(614.46 mT) were achieved for pH 7.0 of the sol system, for which the molar ratio of citric acid dosage to the total dosage of Fe^(3+) and Sr^(2+) was 1.5. This study presents a new approach to utilizing oily CRm sludge, and even refractory iron-containing solid waste.
