COVID-19:Gastrointestinal manifestations,liver injury and recommendations

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has caused a pandemic that affected all countries with nearly 270 million patients and 5 million deaths,as of as of December,*** severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus targets the receptor,angiotensin-converting enzyme 2,which is frequently found in human intestinal epithelial cells,bile duct epithelial cells,and liver cells,and all gastrointestinal system organs are affected by COVID-19 *** aim of this study is to review the gastrointestinal manifestations and liver damage of COVID-19 infection and investigate the severe COVID-19 infection risk in patients that have chronic gastrointestinal disease,along with current treatment guidelines.A literature search was conducted on electronic databases of PubMed,Scopus,and Cochran Library,consisting of COVID-19,liver injury,gastrointestinal system findings,and *** and intestinal involvements are the most common ***,anorexia,nausea/vomiting,abdominal pain are the most frequent symptoms seen in intestinal *** hepatitis occurs with elevated levels of *** involvement is associated with long hospital stay,severity of the disease,and intensive care unit *** and follow-up of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases,cirrhosis,hepatocellular carcinoma,or liver transplant have been negatively affected during the *** with cirrhosis,hepatocellular carcinoma,auto-immune diseases,or liver transplantation may have a greater risk for severe *** or therapeutic procedures should be restricted with specific *** should be used in non-urgent periodic patient follow ***-19 treatment should not be delayed in patients at the risk ***-19 vaccination should be prioritized in this group.

Synthesis and characterization of boron-doped NiO thin films pro-duced by spray pyrolysis

Boron-doped NiO thin films were prepared on glass substrates at 400℃ by airbrush spraying method using a solution of nickel nitrate hexahydrate. Their physical properties were investigated as a function of dopant concentration. From X-ray diffraction patterns, it is observed that the films have cubic structure with lattice parameters varying with boron concentration. The morphologies of the films were examined by using scanning electron microscopy, and the grain sizes were measured to be around 30-50 nm. Optical measurements show that the band gap energies of the films first decrease then increase with increasing boron concentration. The resistivities of the films were determined by four point probe method, and the changes in resistivity with boron concentration were investigated.

Investigation of Microstructure, Microhardness and Thermal Properties of Ag-In Intermetallic Alloys Prepared by Vacuum Arc Meltings

Ag-In intermetallic alloys were produced by using vacuum arc furnace. Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectrometry(EDX) were used to determine the thermal properties and chemical composition of the phases respectively. Microhardness values of Ag-In intermetallics were calculated with Vickers hardness measurement method. According to the experimental results, Ag-34 wt%In intermetallic system generated the best results of energy saving and storage compared to other intermetallic systems. Also from the microhardness results, it was observed that intermetallic alloys were harder than pure silver and Ag-26 wt%In system had the highest microhardness value with 143.45 kg/mm^(2).

The first photometric solution in the B,V,R_(c) and I_(c) filters of the short period V1833 Ori eclipsing binary is presented based on new ground-based CCD photometric *** analyzed the BVRI photometric light curves of the system,using PHOEBE 0.31 a,a binary star modeling program,with the Wilson-Devinney method based on Roche geometry to achieve the best accordance with the photometric observations to determine their absolute parameters from the light *** updated the ephemeris of V1833 Ori using two new light curve minima derived by our new observational data from those collected in the literature and analyzed the change of the system's orbital *** O-C analysis indicates that the variations of the orbital period of V1833 Ori with time are increasing at a rate of 3.03×10^(-7)days yr^(-1).The distance of V1833 Ori is 173.7±15.6 *** the solutions,we find that V1833 Ori is an A-subtype W UMa overcontact binary with q=0.701 mass ratio and f=1.14 fill-out *** HR diagram positions of the eclipsing binary system's components are *** system's absolute dimensions were compared to those of similar binaries in the log T_(eff)-log L,logM-logL,1 ogM-logR and logM-log J_(0)diagrams.

Citalopram increases the differentiation efficacy of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells into neuronal-like cells

Several studies have demonstrated that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants can promote neuronal cell proliferation and enhance neuroplasticity both in vitro and in vivo. It is hypothesized that citalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, can promote the neuronal differentiation of adult bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Citalopram strongly enhanced neuronal characteristics of the cells derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. The rate of cell death was decreased in citalopram-treated bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells than in control cells in neurobasal medium. In addition, the cumulative population doubling level of the citalopram-treated cells was signiifcantly increased compared to that of control cells. Also BrdU incorporation was elevated in citalopram-treated cells. These ifndings suggest that citalopram can improve the neuronal-like cell differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells by increasing cell proliferation and survival while maintaining their neuronal characteristics.

Effects of precommercial thinning on growth parameters in Pinus nigra ***(Lamb.)Holmboe stand

We investigated the effects of precommercial thinning(PCT)applied at different levels on the growth parameters of natural Anatolian black pine *** experimental site was located in the province of Isparta in southern *** was set up using a randomized complete block design with three replicates and three treatments(control,2–2.5 m×–2.5 m and 3–3.5 m×–3.5 m spacing).The experimental plots were established in March *** the end of the growing seasons for three years(2014–2016),growth parameters such as diameter,height and crown radius were *** was found to be significantly effective on diameter,height,individual tree basal area,and crown radius increment at the end of the third year(p<0.05).While diameter,individual tree basal area and crown radius increment increased with increasing PCT intensity,height increment was higher in control than *** the PCT treatments applied with 3–3.5 m spacing affected individual tree development positively,we need long-term results on wood quality and *** to the short-term results,it is thought that it is better to lower the stand closeness gradually,so,it may be advisable to apply PCT by 2–2.5 m×–2.5 m spacing.

Assessment of Reusing Ferrochrome Slag Wastes in Mortar as SCMs

The demand for alternative cementitious materials is on the rise,as the cement causes huge energy consumption and produces greenhouse gas ***,there is economic potential for the construction industry to reuse wastes as supplementary building *** purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential of utilizing ferrochrome slag wastes in mortar as supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs),thereby achieving this double-sided ***,the mechanical and physical properties of ferrochrome slag wastes were investigated to be used as admixtures in concrete *** different cement mortar specimens were prepared by replacing cement with ferrochrome slag in ratios of 0,30%,and 60% by mass and flexural and compressive strengths of the specimens were determined at the ages of 7,28,56,90,and 180 ***,the effects of the ferrochrome slag replacement ratio on workability,setting time and volume expansion were *** electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were also investigated to study the microstructural properties of the specimens containing ferrochrome *** on the results,it is concluded that ferrochrome slag wastes have pozzolanic activity,therefore reusing them as SCMs in the cement and concrete industry is convenient.
