In this study, we aimed to evaluate changes of vertical palpebral fissure height （VPFH） after unilateral lateral rectus muscle recession. Twenty-five and twenty-six patients who were candidates for lateral rectus muscle recession were assigned into “with” and “without” intermuscular septum dissection study arms. The VPFH was measured at one-day before surgery and in two weeks and three months, postoperatively. Three months after surgery, significant increase of VPFH was observed in both groups （Paired t-test; P=0.005）. Also, less widening of VPFH was observed in “with intermuscular septum dissection” group （Change in VPFH in “with intermuscular septum dissection” vs “without intermuscular septum dissection” groups： 0.48 mm vs 1.34 mm; ANCOVA test; P〈0.001）. However, such results were not observed two weeks post-operatively （Change in VPFH in “with intermuscular septum dissection” vs “without intermuscular septum dissection” groups： -0.28 mm vs 0.28 mm; ANCOVA test; P=0.302）. Intermuscular septum dissection is recommended in lateral rectus muscle recession to partially prevent the undesirable increment of VPFH.

Gas release and its dispersion is a major concern in chemical *** order to manage and mitigate the risk of gas dispersion and its consequences,it is necessary to predict gas dispersion behavior and its concentration at various locations upon ***,models and commercial packages such as Phast and ALOHA have been *** fluid dynamics(CFD)can be a useful tool to simulate gas dispersion in complex areas and *** validation of the models requires the employment of the experimental data from filed and wind tunnel *** appears that the use of the experimental data to validate the CFD method that only includes certain monitor points and not the entire domain can lead to unreliable results for the intended areas of *** this work,some of the trials of the Kit Fox field experiment,which provided a wide-range database for gas dispersion,were simulated by *** scenarios were considered with different mesh sizes,physical conditions,and types of *** results of the simulations were surveyed in the whole *** data matching each scenario was varied by the influence of the dominant displacement force(wind or diffusivity).Furthermore,the statistical parameters suggested for the heavy gas dispersion showed a dependency on the lower band of gas ***,they should be used with ***,the results and computation cost of the simulation could be affected by the chosen scenario,the location of the intended points,and the release type.

The main aim of this study was to evaluate methods for fixed area and distance sampling in the Zagros open forest area in western Iran. Basic forest management and planning required appropriate quantitative and qualitative information. Two sampling methods were compared on the basis of the actual means of characteristics derived from the 100 % survey. In total, 37 sampling plots were systematically installed with a grid of 100 m × 100 m in the study area. Density, crown canopy, and basal area of the stands were measured. The 100 % survey showed that tree density above 12.5 cm diameter at breast height was 68.04 stem ha-1, basal area was 15.16 m2 ha-1 and crown canopy percentage was 35.71% ha-1. The values for the traits determined by the two sampling methods differed significantly （P = 0.05）. When the time required for the methods was compared, transect sampling required less than systematic-random sampling. Therefore, the transect sampling method was the more economical method for the Zagros open forests. The transect sampling method was statistically defensible and practical for quantitating characteristics of the Zagros open forests.

Recent fires in Iran’s Zagros forests have inflicted heavy,extensive losses to the environment,forests,villages,and forest inhabitants,resulting in a huge financial loss to the *** the increasing risk of fire and the resulting losses,it has become ever more necessary to design and develop efficient fire control and prediction *** present study utilizes the Dong model to develop a map of areas vulnerable to fire in the Zarivar lake forests as a representative sample of Zagros *** model uses as its inputs some of the most significant factors(such as vegetation,physiographic features,and the human component)that affect the fire occurrence and *** assigned weights to each factor based on the model,all maps were overlapped in the ArcMap and then the region was divided into five *** results showed that 74%of the region was located in three classes:highly vulnerable,vulnerable,and medially *** validate the proposed zoning map it was compared with a map based on real data obtained from previous *** results showed that 81%of fire incidents were located in highly vulnerable,vulnerable and medially vulnerable ***,the findings indicated a medium to a high degree of fire vulnerability in Zarivar Lake forests.

At present, the use of rare earth elements（REEs） has become an inevitable necessity in many modern industries. In general, liquid extraction is the best commercial method for extracting REEs due to its ability to control high volumes of liquids with electrical load. With the aim of improving a separation technology that would be superior to the existing extraction systems, the extraction behaviors of La（Ⅲ）,Pr（Ⅲ）, and Nd（Ⅲ） from an HCI medium with Cyanex 272 in the presence of the complexing agent lactic acid（HLac） and auxiliary agents citric acid（H3 Cit）, acetic acid（HAc）, and Titriplex Ⅲ have been *** effect of pH and lactic acid concentration has been examined. The use of lactic acid as a complexing agent leading to a high extraction of REEs with Cyanex 272 at pH = 5 was compared with systems without lactic acid. The results show that the use of acetic acid along with lactic acid leads to an increase in the extraction percentage of LREEs. While use of citric acid and Titriplex Ⅲ reduces the extraction percentage of LREEs. Finally, the presence of Titriplex Ⅲ together with lactic acid could lead to an increase in the separation factor of Pr and Nd.

One of the main problems during the welding of ferritic stainless steels is severe grain growth within the heat-affected zone （HAZ） In the present study, the microstmctural characteristics of tungsten inert gas （TIG） welded AISI409 ferritic stainless steel were investigated by electron backscattered diffraction （EBSD）, and the effects of welding parameters on the grain size, local misorientation, and low-angle grain boundaries were studied. A 3-D finite element model （FEM） was developed to predict the effects of welding parameters on the holding time of the HAZ above the critical temperature of grain growth. It is found that the base metal is not fully recrystallized. During the welding, complete recrystallization is followed by severe grain growth. A decrease in the number of low-angle grain boundaries is observed within the HAZ. FEM results show that the final state of residual sWains is caused by competition between welding plastic strains and their release by recrystallization. Still, the decisive factor for grain growth is heat input.

The geochemistry of magnetite provides constraints on the source(s) of the magnetite and other ore minerals. In this study, we constructed a magnetite distribution map, compared the chemical composition of magnetite present in hard rocks with that present in sand beach and stream deposits to determine magnetite’s provenance,investigated relationships among different trace elements,examined variations in the concentrations of trace elements present in magnetite, and identified the type of studied magnetite. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry/inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy was used to analyze samples available in small and large amounts, respectively. The average magnetite compositions of beach and river samples were substantially similar to those of andesite rocks,revealing that the magnetite samples may have originated from surrounding andesite rocks;this finding is consistent with the chemical composition of the samples analyzed using LA-ICP-MS. Some of the andesite rocks found in the study area were the primary source of magnetite aggregations in the beach sands and stream sands near or slightly away from these rocks. High Ti–V magnetites lie within the fields of Fe–Ti–V bearing magnetite and titanomagnetite(ulv?spinel). These titanomagnetites may be undergoing transformation to spinel minerals such as galaxite,gahnite, magnesiochromite, and chromite, which are characterized by the high concentrations of Al, Ti, Mg, Cr,Ni, Mn, and Zn. The positive correlation between Fe and Ti, Cr and Ni, and also the negative correlation between Fe and Mg, Mn and Zn can be attributed to various magnetite phases present in the study area. V, Co, Mo, Nb, Ga, Sn,and Ta exhibited a positive correlation with Fe and a negative correlation with Al. Model predictive control(MPC)is an optimal control method that predicts the future states of the system being controlled and estimates the optimal control inputs that drive the predicted states to the required *** computations of the MPC are performed at pre-determined sample instances over a finite time *** number of sample instances and the horizon length determine the performance of the MPC and its computational cost.A long horizon with a large sample count allows the MPC to better estimate the inputs when the states have rapid changes over time,which results in better performance but at the expense of high computational ***,this long horizon is not always necessary,especially for slowly-varying *** this case,a short horizon with less sample count is preferable as the same MPC performance can be obtained but at a fraction of the computational *** this paper,we propose an adaptive regression-based MPC that predicts the best minimum horizon length and the sample count from several features extracted from the time-varying changes of the *** proposed technique builds a synthetic dataset using the system model and utilizes the dataset to train a support vector regressor that performs the *** proposed technique is experimentally compared with several state-of-the-art techniques on both linear and non-linear *** proposed technique shows a superior reduction in computational time with a reduction of about 35–65%compared with the other techniques without introducing a noticeable loss in performance.
