To professionally plan and manage the development and evolution of the Internet of Things(IoT),researchers have proposed several IoT performance measurement *** performance measurement solutions can be very valuable for managing the development and evolution of IoT systems,as they provide insights into performance issues,resource optimization,predictive maintenance,security,reliability,and user ***,there are several issues that can impact the accuracy and reliability of IoT performance measurements,including lack of standardization,complexity of IoT systems,scalability,data privacy,and *** previous studies proposed several IoT measurement solutions in the literature,they did not evaluate any individual one to figure out their respective measurement strengths and *** study provides a novel scheme for the evaluation of proposed IoT measurement solutions using a metrology-coverage evaluation based on evaluation theory,metrology principles,and software measurement best *** evaluation approach was employed for 12 IoT measure categories and 158 IoT measurement solutions identified in a Systematic Literature Review(SLR)from 2010 to *** metrology coverage of these IoT measurement solutions was analyzed from four perspectives:across IoT categories,within each study,improvement over time,and implications for IoT practitioners and *** criteria in this metrology-coverage evaluation allowed for the identification of strengths and weaknesses in the theoretical and empirical definitions of the proposed IoT measurement *** found that the metrological coverage varies significantly across IoT measurement solution categories and did not show improvement over the 2010–2021 *** findings can help practitioners understand the limitations of the proposed measurement solutions and choose those with stronger *** evaluation results can also be used by researchers to improve current Io

Each year approximately 360,000 people in the United States suffer a peripheral nerve injury （PNI）, which is a leading source of lifelong disability （Kelsey et al., 1997; Noble et al., 1998）. The most frequent cause of PNIs is motor vehicle accidents, while gunshot wounds, stabbings, and birth trauma are also common factors. Patients suffering from disabilities as a result of their PNIs are also burdensome to the healthcare system, with aver- age hospital stays of 28 days each year （Kelsey et al., 1997; Noble et al., 1998）.

Recent evidence shows that certain microRNAs （miRNAs） play a role in both obesity and prostate cancer recurrence, but the association between the expression of these miRNAs and obesity in prostate cancer recurrence is unknown. In this study, we examined the effect of the interaction between obesity and miR-21, miR-221 or miR-222 expression on prostate cancer recurrence among 28 recurrent and 37 non-recurrent prostate cancer cases, miRNA expression was determined using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Cox proportional hazard models adjusting for age at diagnosis, clinical stage and Gleason score were used to estimate hazard ratios （hR） and 95% confidence intervals （95% CI） for recurrence free survival. A significantly （P=0.014） higher proportion of recurrent cases （78,6%） than non-recurrent cases （48.6%） had a low expression of miR-21 and the difference was more prominent in obese than non-obese patients. Multivariate analysis showed that the expression of miR-21 was an independent risk factor for recurrence in obese （hR=6.15, 95% CI= 1.04-36.48, P=-0.045）, but not in non-obese （hR= 1.28, 95% C1=0.30-5.49, P=0.74） cases. A significant association with recurrence was not observed for the expression of miR-221 and miR-222. In summary, our findings show that miR-21 is associated with prostate cancer recurrence after radical prostatectomy and suggest that the differential expression of miR-21 is more prominent in obese than in non-obese cases. Future larger studies are warranted to confirm these initial findings and to elucidate the mechanisms involved.

Meiosis is a specialized cell division for producing haploid gametes in sexually reproducing *** this study,we have independently identified a novel meiosis protein male meiosis recombination regulator(MAMERR)/4930432 K21 Rik and showed that it is indispensable for meiosis prophase I progression in male *** super-resolution structured illumination microscopy,we found that MAMERR functions at the same double-strand breaks as the replication protein A and meiosis-specific with OB domains/spermatogenesis associated 22 *** generated a Mamerr-deficient mouse model by deleting exons 3 e6 and found that most of Mamerrà/àspermatocytes were arrested at pachynema and failed to progress to diplonema,although they exhibited almost intact synapsis and progression to the pachytene stage along with XY body *** mechanistic studies revealed that the recruitment of DMC1/RAD51 and heat shock factor 2 ebinding protein in Mamerrà/àspermatocytes was only mildly impaired with a partial reduction in double-strand break repair,whereas a substantial reduction in ubiquitination on the autosomal axes and on the XY body appeared as a major phenotype in Mamerrà/à*** propose that MAMERR may participate in meiotic prophase I progression by regulating the ubiquitination of key meiotic proteins on autosomes and XY chromosomes,and in the absence of MAMERR,the repressed ubiquitination of key meiotic proteins leads to pachytene arrest and cell death.

A New Automated Method and Sample Data Flow for Analysis of Volatile Nitrosamines in human Urine

Volatile nitrosamines (VNAs) are a group of compounds classified as probable (group 2A) and possible (group 2B) carcinogens in humans. Along with certain foods and contaminated drinking water, VNAs are detected at high levels in tobacco products and in both mainstream and side-stream smoke. Our laboratory monitors six urinary VNAs—N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), N-nitrosomethylethylamine (NMEA), N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA), N-nitrosopiperidine (NPIP), N-nitrosopyrrolidine (NPYR), and N-nitrosomorpholine (NMOR)—using isotope dilution GC-MS/ MS (QQQ) for large population studies such as the National health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NhANES). In this paper, we report for the first time a new automated sample preparation method to more efficiently quantitate these VNAs. Automation is done using hamilton STARTM and Caliper StaccatoTM workstations. This new automated method reduces sample preparation time from 4 hours to 2.5 hours while maintaining precision (inter-run CV his method increases sample throughput while maintaining a low limit of detection (he automated method, in which samples can be tracked from receiving to final LIMs output with minimal human intervention, further minimizing human error in the sample preparation process. This new automated method and the sample data flow are currently applied in bio-monitoring of VNAs in the US non-institutionalized population NhANES 2013-2014 cycle.

Pharmacokinetics of levosulpiride after single and multiple intramuscular administrations in healthy Chinese volunteers
