Multivariate statistical methods and GIS based evaluation of the health risk potential and water quality due to arsenic pollution in the K?z?l?rmak River

the K?z?l?rmak River is turkey?s longest(1,355 km) river and it is important since it constitutes the drinking and irrigation water source of the Central Anatolia Region. In the current study, the spatial distribution, effect on irrigation water quality, environmental pollution status, ecotoxicological and health risks as well as possible sources of 12 potential toxic elements?(PtEs)(manganese(Mn),aluminum(Al), arsenic(As), chromium(Cr), zinc(Zn), iron(Fe), nickel(Ni), cadmium(Cd), cobalt(Co),copper(Cu), mercury(Hg), and lead(Pb)) concentrations from surface water samples in the K?z?l?rmak River were analyzed by using geographical information systems(GIS) software, ecotoxicological indices,and multivariate statistical analysis. As a result of the current study, it was determined that the As concentration is above the World Health Organization(WHO) limit values, and, in terms of the 12 PtEs,there is slight heavy metal contamination in the river according to the Heavy Metal Pollution Index(HPI)and Heavy Metal Evaluation Index(HEI) values and there is a low level of pollution. the Hazard Quotient for ingestion(HQingestion) and Hazard Index(HI) values indicate that non-carcinogenic effects may *** to river water is likely to result in a low level of carcinogenic risk(CR) in adults, mainly due to the As concentration. the water at Sampling Station S3(131.79) cannot be used for drinking and is not suitable for consumption. According to the sodium percentage(Na%), Sodium Absorption Ratio(SAR),and Magnesium Hazard(MH) index results, river water is suitable for agricultural use.

An optimal layout or three-dimensional spatial distribution of stopes guarantees the maximum profitability over life span of an underground mining ***,stope optimization is one of the key areas in underground mine planning ***,the computational complexity in developing an optimal stope layout has been a reason for limited availability of the algorithms offering solution to this *** article shares a new and efficient heuristic algorithm that considers a three-dimensional ore body model as an input,maximizes the economic value,and satisfies the physical mining and geotechnical constraints for generating an optimal stope *** implementation at a copper deposit demonstrates the applicability and robustness of the algorithm.A parallel processing based modification improving the performance of the original algorithm in terms of enormous computational time saving is also presented.

the ultrastructure of the bone provides a unique mechanical strength against compressive, torsional andtensional stresses. An elastin-like recombinamer (ELR) with a nucleation sequence for hydroxyapatitewas incorporated into films prepared from a collagen-silk fibroin blend carrying microchannel patternsto stimulate anisotropic osteogenesis. SEM and fluorescence microscopy showed the alignment ofadipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and the human osteoblasts (HOBs) on the ridges and in the groovesof microchannel patterned collagen-fibroin-ELR blend films. the Young's modulus and the ultimatetensile strength (UtS) of untreated films were 0.58 ± 0.13 MPa and 0.18 ± 0.05 MPa, respectively. After 28days of cell culture, ADSC seeded film had a Young's modulus of 1.21 ± 0.42 MPa and UtS of0.32 ± 0.15 MPa which were about 3 fold higher than HOB seeded films. the difference in Young'smodulus was statistically significant (p: 0.02). ADSCs attached, proliferated and mineralized better thanthe HOBs. In the light of these results, ADSCs served as a better cell source than HOBs for bone tissueengineering of collagen-fibroin-ELR based constructs used in this study. We have thus shown theenhancement in the tensile mechanical properties of the bone tissue engineered scaffolds by usingADSCs.

In this research,changes of testosterone hormone in the blood serum of 9 male（3 of age 2 and 6 of age 4） White goats have been studied for a duration of one *** performed show that the general monthly averages of the testosterone hormone of the male White goats in the period of 12 months starting in January were（2.11±.73）,（2.22±.52）,（2.44±.59）,（2.10±.41）,（2.35±.00）,（3.42±.48）,（4.77±.32）,（5.61±.40）,（7.91±.24）,（10.84±.59）,（7.82±.60）,and（2.63±.61） ng mL-1,respectively（P0.05）.the effect of the age factor on the testosterone production in White goats（age 2 and 4） was generally significant（P 0.05） for differences among months in each age group,but not significant for differences between age groups in each *** testosterone hormone levels of male White goats encountered significant changes（P0.05） with respect to the season.

Spinal cord injury(SCI) leads to social and psychological problems in patients and requires costly treatment and care. In recent years, various pharmacological agents have been tested for acute SCI. Large scale, prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trials have failed to demonstrate marked neurological benefit in contrast to their success in the laboratory. today, the most important problem is ineffectiveness of nonsurgical treatment choices in human SCI that showed neuroprotective effectsin animal studies. Recently, attempted cellular therapy and transplantations are promising. A better understanding of the pathophysiology of SCI started in the early 1980 s. Research had been looking at neuroprotection in the 1980 s and the first half of 1990 s and regeneration studies started in the second half of the 1990 s. A number of studies on surgical timing suggest that early surgical intervention is safe and feasible, can improve clinical and neurological outcomes and reduce health care costs, and minimize the secondary damage caused by compression of the spinal cord after trauma. this article reviews current evidence for early surgical decompression and nonsurgical treatment options, including pharmacological and cellular therapy, as the treatment choices for SCI.

Biliary endoscopic sphincterotomy(ESt) refers to the cutting of the biliary sphincter and intraduodenal segment of the common bile duct following selective cannulation, using a high frequency current applied with a special knife, sphincterotome, inserted into the papilla. ESt is either used solely for the treatment of diseases of the papilla of Vater, such as sphincter of Oddi dysfunction or to facilitate subsequent therapeutic biliary interventions, such as stone extraction, stenting, etc. It is a prerequisite for biliary interventions, thus every practitioner who performs endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography needs to know different techniques and the clinical and anatomic parameters related to the efficacy and safety of the procedure. In this manuscript, we will review the indications, contraindications and techniques of biliary ESt and the management of its complications.
