Psychometric scales,commonly used to gauge sexual function,can sometimes be influenced by response *** our researchfrom June 2020 to April 2021,we examined the accuracy of self-reported sexual function *** invited patients from theDepartment of Infertility and Sexual Medicine at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University(Guangzhou,China),whohave male sexual dysfunction,to participate by filling out a self-reported version of a specific *** addition,they wentthrough a clinician-assisted version of this questionnaire,encompassing tools such as the Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool(PEDT),the 6-item International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF-6),the Erection Hardness Scale(EHS),and the MasturbationErection Index(MEI).Using the clinician-assisted version as a reference,we categorized patients and applied various statisticalmethods,such as the Chi-square test,intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC),logistic regression,and the Bland–Altman plot,to gauge *** our study with 322 participants,we found that while there were no notable discrepancies in error ratesbased on our categorization,certain scales showed significant differences in terms of overestimation and underestimation,withthe exception of the *** positive diagnosis rate consistency between the self-reported and clinician-assisted versions *** ICC values between the two versions across the scales were indicative of remarkable *** findings showthat the self-reported versions of tools such as EHS,IIEF-6,MEI,and PEDT are credible and hold clinical ***,employing a dual-diagnosis approach might be more prudent to circumvent potential misdiagnoses.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic mucosal dissection has become the standard treatment for early gastric ***,post-endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)ulcer occurs in 4.4%of *** study hypothesized whether applying PuraStat,a novel hemostatic peptide solution,prevents post-ESD *** To investigate the preventive potential of PuraStat,a hemostatic formulation,against bleeding in post-ESD gastric *** Between May 2022 and March 2023,101 patients(Group P)underwent ESD for gastric diseases at our hospital and received PuraStat(2 ml)for post-ESD *** retrospectively compared this group with a control group(Group C)com-prising 297 patients who underwent ESD for gastric diseases at our hospital between April 2017 and March 2021.P valuesleeding occurred in 6(5.9%)(95%CI:2.8-12.4)and 20(6.7%)(95%CI:4.4-10.2)patients in Groups P and C,respectively,with no significant between-group *** relative risk was 1.01(95%CI:0.95-1.07).The lesser curvature or anterior wall was the bleeding site in all 6 patients who experienced postoperative bleeding in Group *** multivariate analysis,the odds ratios for resection diameter≥50 mm and oral anticoagulant use were 6.63(95%CI:2.52-14.47;P=0.0001)and 4.04(1.26-0.69;P=0.0164),*** adjusted odds ratio of post-ESD bleeding and PuraStat was 1.28(95%CI:0.28-2.15).CONClUSION PuraStat application is not associated with post-ESD ***,the study suggests that gravitational forces may affect the effectiveness of applied PuraStat.

Increased Mortality Risk in Children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders: A Scoping Review

Objective: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) are common, often undiagnosed, lifelong developmental disorders that result from prenatal alcohol exposure. FASD is present at birth and typically identified around seven years of age. The most severe outcome in cases of FASD is mortality. The purpose of this scoping review is to 1) use a systematic review to provide an estimated mortality proportion for children with FASD, and 2) update a study published in 2014 by reviewing published reports of mortality in individuals diagnosed with FASD. Method: A search of PubMed, CINAHl, and Google Scholar for reports published between 2013 and 2023 on mortality in individuals with FASD. Results: Three population-based studies have reported on all-cause mortality rates, finding a combined mortality rate of 10.9%, a 2.63 fold (95% CI: 2.61 to 2.65) increase in mortality risk over the general population. Since 2016, this review identified only eight new cases meeting the study inclusion criteria. The reported causes of death were five cases of pneumonia, and one case each of failure to thrive and dehydration, intestinal dilatation and asphyxiation caused by overeating due to pica, and acute gastric volvulus. Discussion: While current research suggests a diagnosis of FASD is associated with a 2.6-fold increase in mortality risk, this is likely an underestimation, as most cases of FASD-related mortality go unreported. Globally, about 1 new case is reported every 15 months. However, in the United States alone, between 1752 to 4400 FASD related deaths occur annually. Our review suggests that FASD is rarely identified as a causal or contributing factor in deaths of children and adolescents, resulting in a substantial undercount of FASD-related deaths. Increased attention to the role of FASD in infant and child mortality case reviews, child death review committee reports, and mortality reviews is needed.

Introduction: A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is caused by a forceful bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body, or by an object that pierces the skull and interrupts the normal function of the brain. Severe TBI is estimated at 73 cases per 100,000 people. The mortality of severe TBI can be reduced if a timely diagnosis and treatment of the injuries are made through prognostic factors. Objective: To determine the prognostic factors related to mortality in severe traumatic brain injury at the Hospital General de Zona No. 46. Material and Methods: Retrospective, cross-sectional and descriptive study in beneficiaries admitted to the Hospital General de Zona (HGZ) No. 46 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS by its acronym in Spanish), with a diagnosis of severe TBI;the possible prognostic factors related to mortality of severe TBI were obtained from their records. Measures of central tendency and chi square were used for data analysis. Results: The study sample consisted of 60 subjects diagnosed with severe traumatic brain injury, of which 5 (8%) were women and 55 (92%) were men, and all 60 (100%) patients died. The average age of the sample was 26 with a standard deviation of 9 years. The variables that had a p value less than or equal to 0.05 were: Mydriasis, seizures, Hyperglycemia, Normoglycemia, Hypothermia and Hypotension. This means that these variables were associated with mortality. Conclusion: Statistical significance is demonstrated in prognostic factors of mortality in severe traumatic brain injury with p lycemia, normoglycemia, hypothermia and hypotension.
