Validity of self-reported male sexual function scales in a young Chinese population:a comparative study with clinician-assisted evaluation

Psychometric scales,commonly used to gauge sexual function,can sometimes be influenced by response *** our researchfrom June 2020 to April 2021,we examined the accuracy of self-reported sexual function *** invited patients from theDepartment of Infertility and Sexual Medicine at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University(Guangzhou,China),whohave male sexual dysfunction,to participate by filling out a self-reported version of a specific *** addition,they wentthrough a clinician-assisted version of this questionnaire,encompassing tools such as the Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool(PEDT),the 6-item International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF-6),the Erection Hardness Scale(EHS),and the MasturbationErection Index(MEI).Using the clinician-assisted version as a reference,we categorized patients and applied various statisticalmethods,such as the Chi-square test,intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC),logistic regression,and the Bland–Altman plot,to gauge *** our study with 322 participants,we found that while there were no notable discrepancies in error ratesbased on our categorization,certain scales showed significant differences in terms of overestimation and underestimation,withthe exception of the *** positive diagnosis rate consistency between the self-reported and clinician-assisted versions *** ICC values between the two versions across the scales were indicative of remarkable *** findings showthat the self-reported versions of tools such as EHS,IIEF-6,MEI,and PEDT are credible and hold clinical ***,employing a dual-diagnosis approach might be more prudent to circumvent potential misdiagnoses.

Short-term microbial responses to soluble inorganic P input in a tropical lowland rain forest in Amazonia

Gender medicine focuses on the patho-physiological, clinical, prevention and treatment differences in diseases that are equally represented in men and women. The purpose of gender medicine is to ensure that each individual man and woman receives the best treatment possible based on scientific evidence. The concept of “gender” includes not only the sexual characteristics of individuals but also physiological and psychological attributes of men and women, including risk factors, protective/aggravating effects of sexual hormones and variances linked to genetics and corporal structures that explain biological and physiological differences between men and women. It is very important to consider all the biological, physiological, functional, psychological, social and cultural characteristics to provide patients with individualized disease management. Herein, we critically analyze the literature regarding gender differences for diseases and acquired conditions of the most representative hepatic pathologies: primary biliary cirrhosis, autoimmune hepatitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, non alcoholic fatty liver disease and alcoholic liver disease, and viral chronic hepatitis B and C. The last section addresses hemochromatosis, which is a prevalent iron overload disorder in the Caucasian population. This review aims to describe data from the literature concerning viral chronic hepatitis during pregnancy, management during pregnancy and delivery, and new effective drugs for the prevention of maternal infection transmission without significant adverse effects or complications.

What Is Transferred From Novel to Film？ Some Criticism of Brian McFarlane＇s Adaptation Analysis Method

Brian McFarlane＇s adaptation analysis method, first described in Novel to Film （1996）, is one of the most elaborated ones, and is often used in some form by contemporary scholars and critics. McFarlane attempts to use Roland Barthes＇（1990） narrative theory for the comparison of novels and films, In any narrative, Barthes distinguishes two main groups of functions： functions proper and indices. McFarlane＇s ultimate aim with this taxonomy is to determine what elements of a novel are subject to adaptation proper and which ones are transferred directly into film. He concludes that a certain type of functions proper is transferable, while indices are more broadly open to adaptation than to the directness of transfer. The author finds McFarlane＇s theory problematic With the help of a Henry James＇ novella and its film adaptation, the author will try to demonstrate that functions proper are far too complex to enable a simple transfer. Leadership succession in nursing academic programs poses a significant challenge, primarily due to the limited availability of professionals with the competencies required for effective leadership [1]. This study aims to address this gap by investigating the critical factors in succession planning for nursing program administrators. The research objectives include identifying the competencies necessary for academic administrators, assessing the experience of current administrators, and developing a comprehensive succession plan framework. The research uses qualitative methods, including literature review, interviews with nursing administrators, and analysis of existing succession models. Results highlight the importance of integrating strategic planning into succession processes to ensure smooth transitions and organizational stability. Conclusions suggest that a formalized succession plan, incorporating mentorship and leadership development, can mitigate leadership gaps in nursing academia [2].

Nurse odor perception in various Japanese hospital settings

Because unpleasant hospital odors affect the nursing environment,we investigated nurses'perceptions of the odors of various hospital settings:hospital rooms,nurse stations,and human waste disposal rooms to discard the urine,stools and diapers.A questionnaire based on the Japanese Ministry of the Environment's guidelines on odor index regulation was used to assess nurses'perceptions of odor intensity,comfort,tolerability,and description in the aforementioned *** were distributed to nursing department directors at three Japanese hospitals,who then disseminated the questionnaires to nursing *** the 1,151 questionnaires distributed,496 nurses *** waste disposal rooms had greater odor intensity and were perceived as more uncomfortable than the other *** odors in disposal rooms,hospital rooms,and nurse stations were rated as slightly intolerable in *** and disposal rooms were mainly described as having a“pungent odor such as of urine and stool.”In contrast,nurse stations were described as having other unpleasant odors,such as chemical,human-body-related,or sewage-like *** that nurses spend much of their time in hospital rooms and nurse stations,odor management in these two settings would likely improve nurses'working conditions at *** odors at nurse stations is *** improvements could have indirect effects on nurse turnover and burnout.
