Nonlinear frequency conversion is a pathway to unlock undiscovered physics and implement tailored light sources for spectroscopy or medicine.A key challenge is the establishment of spectrally flat outputs,which is particularly demanding in the context of soliton-based light conversion at low pump ***,we introduce the concept of controlling nonlinear frequency conversion by longitudinally varying resonances,allowing the shaping of soliton dynamics and achieving broadband spectra with substantial spectral *** varying resonances are realised by nanofilms with gradually changing thicknesses located on the core of an advanced microstructured *** with engineered thickness profiles are fabricated by tilted deposition,representing a waveguidecompatible approach to nano-fabrication,and inducing well-controlled resonances into the system,allowing unique dispersion control along the fibre *** features and dependencies are examined experimentally,showing improved bandwidth and spectral flatness via multiple dispersive wave generation and dispersionassisted soliton Raman shifts while maintaining excellent pulse-to-pulse stability and coherence in simulations,suggesting the relevance of our findings for basic science as well as tailored light sources.

Iron(Fe)minerals are commonly used to remove phosphorus(p)from waste streams,producing p-loaded Fe(Ⅲ)oxides or Fe(Ⅱ)phosphate minerals(e.g.,vivianite).These minerals may be used as fertilizers to enhance p circularity if solubilized in ***,we tested the p fertilizer value of recycled Fe phosphates(Feps)in a pot trial and in an incubation experiment,hypothesizing that p release from Feps is possible under Fe(Ⅲ)-reducing ***,a pot trial was set up with rice(Oryza sativa)in all combinations of soil flooding or not,three p-deficient soils(acid,neutral,and calcareous),and six Feps(three Fe(Ⅲ)ps and three Fe(Ⅱ)ps)referenced to triple superphosphate(TSp)or zero *** p uptake responded to TSp application in all treatments but only marginally to *** redox potential did not decrease to-200 mV by flooding for a brief period(13 d)during the pot trial.A longer incubation experiment(60 d)was performed,including a treatment of glutamate addition to stimulate reductive conditions,and p availability was assessed with CaCl_(2)extraction of *** addition and/or longer incubation lowered soil redox potential top,and adequate p was reached in the calcareous soil and in the neutral soil amended with Fe(Ⅲ)*** can be concluded that prolonged soil flooding and organic matter addition can enhance the p fertilizer efficiency of ***,application of Fep in powder form may enhance p availability.

The exchange of oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) within an incubator has a significant impact on embryonic development (ED) and hatching processes. This study examines the influence of non-ventilation (NV) conditions during the first ten days of incubation at high altitudes on Leghorn hens hatching eggs. Five hundred four hatching eggs were equally divided into three treatment groups and placed in twelve incubators (R = 4). The first group was subjected to standard ventilated conditions (V) during the setting phase. The ventilation inlet holes of the remaining incubators in the NV treatments were closed with either micropore (M) or polypropylene (p) tape, referred to as NVM and NVp groups, respectively. These two different airtight settings were intended to allow for a gradual rise in CO2 naturally generated by the embryos. Results indicate that carbon dioxide concentration gradually increased during the first half of incubation, reaching 1.42% in the NVM group and 1.20% in the NVp group, while the V condition group remained at 0.15%. From 10 days of incubation onwards, normal V conditions were restored in all incubators. The highest hatchability of fertile eggs (HFE) was shown by the NVp group (55.7%), followed by the V (52.6%) and NVM (38.6%) groups. The NVp group showed a greater yolk-free body mass (YFBM) from 10 days of incubation until the hatch basket transfer. NV conditions during the first 10 days of incubation at high altitude produced higher YFBM with gradually decreasing yolk sac mass. In comparison to the NVM and V conditions, the particular NVp condition showed a beneficial impact on the quality of hatched chicks. Sustaining NVp condition (1.2% of CO2) throughout the first half of incubation at high altitude generated the optimal environment in the incubator ensuring the best hatchability results. Background:In a sprint cross-country(XC)ski competition,the difference in recovery times separating the first and the second semi-final(SF)heats from the final(F)may affect *** aim of the current study was to compare the effects of longer *** recovery periods prescribed between the 3 knock-out races of a simulated sprint XC ski competition involving a prologue(p),quarter-final(QF),SF,and ***:Eleven well-trained XC ski athletes completed 2 simulated sprint XC ski competitions on a treadmill involving 4×883-m roller-ski bouts at a 4°incline using the gear 3 ski-skating *** first 3 bouts were completed at a fixed speed(pFIX,QFFIX,and SFFIX)corresponding to~96%of each individual’s previously determined maximal *** final bout was performed as a self-paced sprint time trial(FSTT).Test conditions differed by the time durations prescribed between the QFFIX,SFFIX,and FSTT,which simulated real-world XC ski competition conditions using maximum(MAX-REC)or minimum(MIN-REC)recovery ***:The FSTT was completed 5.4±5.5 s faster(p=0.009)during MAX-REC(179.2±18.1 s)compared to MIN-REC(184.6±20.0 s),and this was linked to a significantly higher power output(p=0.010)and total metabolic rate(p=0.009).The pre FSTT blood lactate(BLa)concentration was significantly lower during MAX-REC compared to MIN-REC(2.5±0.8 mmol/L vs.3.6±1.6 mmol/L,respectively;p=0.027),and the pre-to-post FSTT increase in BLa was greater(8.8±2.1 mmol/L vs.7.1±2.3 mmol/L,respectively;p=0.024).No other differences for MAX-REC ***-REC reached significance(p>0.05).Conclusion:performance in a group of well-trained XC skiers is negatively affected when recovery times between sprint heats are minimized which,in competition conditions,would occur when selecting the last QF *** result is combined with a higher pre-race BLa concentration and a reduced rise in BLa concentration under shorter recovery *** findings may help inform decision making when

Background:Watersheds dominated by agriculture often have significant,negative impacts on local stream habitats and *** study examined stream biota and habitats within an entire stream in a karst agricultural landscape to determine if several decades of watershed conservation and management had reversed the severe degradation caused by poor land use and catastrophic soil erosion during the 1920s and ***:Fish communities and stream habitats were degraded at over half of the 22 stream sites examined,and benthic macroinvertebrate communities were mostly poor throughout the entire *** fish communities were associated with missing or narrow riparian buffers,high percent fine sediments,high embeddedness of coarse sub-strates,and homogeneous run *** communities were dominated by filter-feeding taxa and those adapted to life on or within fine *** sites with wide buffers and influenced by groundwater springs had higher fish community integrity and good to excellent instream ***:Our results suggest that wide riparian buffers and karstic springs may have allowed recovery of some stream reaches,but more extensive buffers and additional soil conservation practices in upland areas likely are necessary to protect most stream segments and their biota from on-going agricultural *** state stream buffer laws instituted after this study resulted in establishment of vegetated buffers at all study sites,which may lead to improved stream habitat and biotic communities in future *** invertebrate community improvement also may require translocation of sensitive taxa from nearby watersheds due to limited dispersal abilities of many species currently absent from the study *** frequency and intensity of storm events and flooding may hinder future recovery of stream habitats and biota.
