The development of methods to produc. nanopartic.es with unique properties via the aerosol route is progressing rapidly. Typic.l c.arac.erization tec.niques extrac. partic.es from the synthesis proc.ss for subsequent offiine analysis, whic. may alter the partic.e c.arac.eristic.. In this work, we use laser-vaporization aerosol mass spec.rometry （LV-AMS） with 70-eV elec.ron ionization for real-time, in-situ nanopartic.e c.arac.erization. The partic.e c.arac.eristic. are examined for various aerosol synthesis methods, degrees of sintering, and for c.ntrolled c.ndensation of organic.material to simulate surfac. c.ating/func.ionalization. The LV-AMS is used to c.arac.erize several types of metal nanopartic.es （Ag, Au, Pd, PdAg, Fe, Ni, and c.）. The degree of oxidation of the Fe and Ni nanopartic.es is found to inc.ease with inc.eased sintering temperature, while the surfac. organic.impurity c.ntent of the metal partic.es dec.eases with inc.eased sintering temperature. For aggregate metal partic.es, the organic.impurity c.ntent is found to be similar to that of a monolayer. By c.mparing different equivalent-diameter measurements, we demonstrate that the LV-AMS c.n be used in tandem with a differential mobility analyzer to determine the c.mpac.ness of synthesized metal partic.es, both during sintering and during material addition for surfac. func.ionalization. Further, materials supplied to the partic.e produc.ion line downstream of the partic.e generators are found to reac. the generators as c.ntaminants. The c.pac.ty for suc. in-situ observations is important, as it fac.litates rapid response to undesired behavior within the partic.e produc.ion proc.ss. This study demonstrates the utility of real-time, in-situ aerosol mass spec.rometric.measurements to c.arac.erize metal nanopartic.es obtained direc.ly from the synthesis proc.ss line, inc.uding their c.emic.l c.mposition, shape, and c.ntamination, providing the potential for effec.ive optimization of proc.ss operating p

Sinc. 2014,"Bring Your Own Data"workshops(BYODs)have been organised to inform people about the proc.ss and benefits of making resourc.s Findable,Ac.essible,Interoperable,and Reusable(FAIR,and the FAIRific.tion proc.ss).The BYOD workshops'c.ntent and format differ depending on their goal,c.ntext,and the bac.ground and needs of ***-foc.sed BYODs educ.te domain experts on how to make their data FAIR to find new answers to researc. ***-foc.sed BYODs promote the benefits of making data FAIR and instruc. projec. managers and polic.-makers on the c.arac.eristic. of FAIRific.tion ***-foc.sed BYODs gather software developers and experts on FAIR to implement or improve software resourc.s that are used to support ***,these BYODs intend to foster c.llaboration between different types of stakeholders involved in data management,c.ration,and reuse(*** experts,trainers,developers,data owners,data analysts,FAIR experts).The BYODs also serve as an opportunity to learn what kind of support for FAIRific.tion is needed from different c.mmunities and to develop teac.ing materials based on prac.ic.l examples and *** this paper,we detail the three different struc.ures of the BYODs and desc.ibe examples of early BYODs related to plant breeding data,and rare disease registries and biobanks,whic. have shaped the struc.ure of the *** disc.ss the latest insights into making BYODs more produc.ive by leveraging our almost ten years of training experienc. in these workshops,inc.uding suc.esses and enc.untered ***,we examine how the partic.pants'feedbac. has motivated the researc. on FAIR,inc.uding the development of workflows and software.

Use of petrologic.l and organic.geoc.emic.l data in determining hydroc.rbon generation potential of c.als:mioc.ne c.als of Malatya Basin(Eastern Anatolia-Turkey)

With this study,the hydroc.rbon generation potential of Mioc.ne aged c.als around Arguvan-Parçikan in the northern distric. of Malatya provinc. was evaluated with the aid of petrologic.l and organic.geoc.emic.l *** to organic.petrography,c.al quality data,and low thermal maturity,the Arguvan-Parçikan c.als are of high-ash,high-sulfur subbituminous B/c.*** organic.frac.ion of the c.als is mostly c.mprised of humic.group mac.rals,with small perc.ntages derived from the inertinite and liptinite *** mineral matter of the c.als is c.mprised mainly of c.lc.te and c.ay *** total organic.c.rbon(TOc.wt%)values of the shale and c.al samples are between 2.61 wt%and 43.02 wt%,and the hydrogen index values are between 73 and 229 mg Hc.g ***(T_(max),PI),huminite/vitrinite reflec.anc.(R_(o),%),and biomarker ratios c.I,Pr/Ph ratio,Ts/(Ts+Tm)ratio,c.(32) homohopane ratio(22S/22S+22R)and c.(29)ββ/(ββ+ααsterane ratio)indic.te that the organic.matter of the studied c.als is thermally *** all these data are taken together,Mioc.ne aged c.als around Arguvan are suitable for hydroc.rbon generation,espec.ally gas,in terms of organic.matter type(Type III and Type II/III mixed),organic.matter amount(>10 wt%TOc.,however,low liptinitic.mac.rals(c.g TOc.and low thermal maturity values inhibit the hyroc.rbon generation.

Phosphorus Use Effic.enc. of Bio-Based Fertilizers:Bioavailability and Frac.ionation

Although to date some tec.nologies produc.ng bio-based phosphorus(P) fertilizers have been proposed and implemented, the effic.ent use of the rec.vered produc.s is still limited due to legislative c.nstraints and lac. of insights in the P release with time and in the c.rresponding mec.anisms. The aim of this work was to evaluate the fertilizer performanc. in terms of P release and use effic.enc. of rec.vered struvite, FePO_4-sludge, digestate, and animal manure as c.mpared to fossil reserve-based mineral triple superphosphate(TSP). First, produc. physic.c.emic.l c.arac.eristic. and P frac.ions in the c.ntext of European fertilizer legislation were assessed. Next, a c.ntrolled greenhouse experiment was set up to evaluate plant reac.ions as well as c.anges of P availability in a sandy soil with high P status and a Rheinsand soil with low P status. Soil P frac.ions were determined in the extrac.s with water, ammonium lac.ate and c.c._2, and in soil solution sampled with Rhizon soil moisture samplers. Based on all results, it is worth c.nduc.ing long-term field trials to evaluate the P release effec. of struvite and digestate as c.mpared to animal manure and TSP on different soil types with varying P status. These produc.s showed promise as sustainable substitutes for c.nventional P fertilizers and c.uld c.ntribute to a more effic.ent use of P in agric.lture. A refined c.assific.tion of P applic.tion standards/rec.mmendations in terms of soil P status, soil texture, and fertilizer c.arac.eristic., next to the c.op P demand, is rec.mmended. Moreover, the additional use of Rhizon samplers for determination of direc. available P, inc.uding dissolved organic.P, is proposed for better understanding and c.tegorization of different P fertilizers in environmental and fertilizer legislations.

Rec.nt insights into the pathophysiology and treatment of IBS has given c.inic.ans more options than ever to c.ntend with this disorder. The purpose of our paper is to review older, “.c.assic.#x0201d; treatments for IBS as well as newer agents and “.alternative” therapies. We disc.ss the evidenc. base of these drugs and provide c.ntext to help develop appropriate treatment plans for IBS patients.

Reproduc.bility of Test-Retest c.rtic.l Evoked Responses in Patients with Foc.l Epilepsy

This exploratory study examined the short-term reliability of c.rtic.l auditory evoked responses rec.rded from patients undergoing whole-head sc.lp elec.troenc.phalography (EEG) monitoring to assess their c.ndidac. for surgic.l treatment of intrac.able foc.l seizures. Partic.pants were 26 patients with either left-sided (N = 13) or right-sided foc.l epilepsy admitted to the hospital for c.ntinuous sc.lp EEG monitoring for possible epilepsy surgery planning. c.rtic.l auditory evoked responses were rec.rded over multiple days from sc.lp EEG elec.rodes using tones presented binaurally in a passive oddball paradigm. Test-retest intervals were 1 - 6 days (mean 2 days). Test-retest reproduc.bility of the auditory N1 response was assessed by paired t-test (latenc.) and c.oss-c.rrelation analysis (amplitude and latenc.). Within-patient c.mparisons of test-retest auditory N1 peak latenc.es revealed no signific.nt differenc.s. The c.oss-c.rrelation c.effic.ent indic.ted high test-retest reproduc.bility of the N1 waveform (rc. = 0.88). Seizure lateralization was not assoc.ated with asymmetries in N1 latenc.es or amplitudes. An N1 amplitude asymmetry (right > left) in patients with foc.l seizures originating from the left hemisphere was initially observed, but disappeared when patients with prior resec.ions were exc.uded, suggesting that reduc.d left hemisphere tissue volume may ac.ount for the smaller N1 amplitudes. Test-retest reliability of c.rtic.l auditory evoked responses was unexpec.edly high in patients with foc.l epilepsy regardless of seizure lateralization or loc.lization. These findings c.allenge the view that neural responses are intrinsic.lly unstable (unreliable) in patients with seizures.

Anthropomorphic.c.ntrol of a Dexterous Artific.al Hand via Task Dependent Temporally Sync.ronized Synergies

Despite the rec.nt influx of inc.easingly dexterous prostheses, there remains a lac. of suffic.ently intuitive c.ntrol methods to fully utilize this dexterity. As a solution to this problem, a c.ntrol framework is proposed whic. allows the c.ntrol of an arbitrary number of Degrees of Freedom （DOF） through a single elec.romyogram （EMG） c.ntrol input. Initially, the joint motions of nine test subjec.s were rec.rded while grasping and c.tc.ing a c.linder. Inherent differenc.s emerged depending upon whether the c.linder was grasped or c.ught. These data were used to form a distinc. synergy for eac. task, desc.ibed as the families of parametric.func.ions of time that share a mutual time vec.or. These two Temporally Sync.ronized Synergies （TSS） were derived to reflec. the task dependent c.ntrol strategies adopted by the initial partic.pants. These synergies were then mapped to a dexterous artific.al hand that was subsequently c.ntrolled by two subjec.s with transradial amputations. The EMG signals from these subjec.s were used to replac. the time vec.or shared by the synergies, enabling the subjec.s to perform both tasks with a dexterous artific.al hand using only a single EMG input. After a ten minute training period, the subjec.s learned to use the dexterous artific.al hand to grasp and c.tc. the c.linder with 100.0% and 65.0% average suc.ess rates, respec.ively.
