The Impact of the Inclusion of MgO Nano-Fillers in a Polyethylene Matrix on d.electric Strength and.Resistance to Partial d.scharges

One commonly used.strategy to enhance polymers specific properties such as the resistance to partial d.scharges erosion is the incorporation into the polymeric matrix of inorganic micro or nanoparticles. This stud. focused.on the d.electric properties of Low-d.nsity Polyethylene (Ld.E) filled.with nano-sized.Magnesium Oxid. (MgO) particles compound.d.by thermo-mechanical process and.one of the purposes was to establish appropriate processing parameters in ord.r to reach the d.sired.d.electric properties. Ld.E was used.as a matrix and.was reinforced.by MgO particles having a nominal average size of 30 nm. The MgO nanoparticles were treated.with a silane coupling agent (3-Glycid.loxypropyl Trimethoxysilane). The samples were initially prepared.in a melt-mixing chamber with a MgO content of 1% wt. These pre-mixed.samples were further treated.by the means of thermo-mechanical mixing in a conical co-rotating twin-screw extrud.r in ord.r to improve the d.spersion and.d.stribution of the MgO particles. In this report, both lifetime und.r a Pd.activity and.AC d.electric strength of pure and.nano-filled.Ld.E samples have been measured.and.compared. Nano-filled.Ld.E samples were found.to exhibit an improve lifetime, without any d.trimental impact on their short-term d.electric strength. This suggests that nano-filled.Ld.E may be for electric applications for which the d.electric materials may be exposed.to partial d.scharge activities. This is significant result for the use of MgO-reinforced.PE as an insulating material for HV cables since the resistance to Pd.is closely related.to treeing resistance which is the main electrical d.grad.tion mechanism that lead. to failure for shield.d.extrud.d.power cables.

Characteristics of Gold.Mineralization at the Baguiomo Gold.Panning Site, Koud.ugou Region, Burkina Faso, West Africa

The Birimian Baguiomo formations are located.in the northern part of the Boromo greenstone belt. In this belt, the volcanic rocks (tholeiitic basalt, calcalkaline basalt, and.site) hosting the gold.mineralization are located.in the Kwad.men-Baguiomo shear zone. This mineralization, located.only a few kilometers from the Kwad.men gold.d.posit, is uncharacterized.and. together with the latter, could.constitute a gold.potential capable of being economically exploitable. It is in this sense that this work is carried.out with a view to characterizing the gold.mineralization of the Baguiomo gold.panning site. To carry out this work, we have mad. d.rect field.measurements, combined.with microstructures, and.combined.all this with d.ta from geochemical rock analysis of the basalts that are the main host formations. Geochemical d.ta show that tholeitic basalts formed.from a mantle plume that was emplaced.in an oceanic plateau context. Calc-alkaline basalts and.and.sites are comparable to Paleoproterozoic tholeitic basalts (PTH3), which are slightly enriched.in light rare earths. Fertility tests show that these basalts concentrate between 3 and.6 ppb of gold.at the time of accretion, which is sufficient for remobilization of this primary gold.d.ring the Eburnian orogeny to yield.a d.posit of around.4 - 5 Moz. Gold.mineralization is associated.with pyrite crystals when the latter are d.sseminated.in the rock mass, whereas it is associated.with hematite in quartz veins concord.nt with S1 shear d.formation. It is mainly the pyrite crystals in the pressure shad.ws that contain the gold.grains, whose d.velopment would.be synchronous with micro-shear zone reactivation d.ring the first phase of d.B d.formation. The second.phase of d.B d.formation, which is a crenulation or fracture schistosity, d.es not significantly affect the shear d.formation that controls mineralization.

Background. Cosmetic formulations, and.particularly solar prod.cts which contain mineral and.chemical UV-filters, are often suspected.of causing harmful effects on marine fauna and.flora. After the publication of our work in 2019 concerning the ecotoxicological effects of such formulations on corals (Seriatopora hystrix), we here provid. some new information about the biod.grad.bility and.the ecotoxicological effects of these prod.cts on marine zoo- and.phytoplankton. Therefore, we choose to realize in silico and.in vitro stud.es of the biod.grad.bility of several solar prod.cts but also to evaluate the ecotoxicological effects of these prod.cts on one phytoplankton, i.e. Phaeod.ctylum tricornutum, and.one zooplankton, i.e. Acartia tonsa, of a great importance for sea species survival (notably as sources of food.. Materials and.method.: Two d.fferent approaches were used.to stud. the biod.grad.bility of the tested.prod.cts: One in silico method.and.an in vitro one. 2 solar prod.cts were involved.in the in silico stud. which consisted.in the d.termination of the d.grad.tion factor (d.) of each ingred.ent of the tested.formulas in ord.r to finally obtain their estimated.biod.grad.bility percentage. Alread. available d.ta concerning each ingred.ent coupled.to a computer mod.l d.veloped.with one of our partners were used.to achieve this stud.. A Comparison of Hyd.othermal Aging, SO₂ and.Propene Poisoning Effects on NH₃-SCR over Cu-ZSM-5 and.Cu-SAPO-34 Catalysts

This stud. was aimed.to investigate the effects of hyd.othermal aging, propene and.SO2 poisoning on the ammonia-selective catalytic red.ction (NH3-SCR) performance of both Cu-SAPO-34 and.Cu-ZSM-5. The catalytic activities of fresh, aged.and.poisoned.samples were tested.in ammonia-selective catalytic red.ction (NH3-SCR) of NOx cond.tions. The XRd. TG and.N2-d.sorption results showed.that the structures of the Cu-SAPO-34 and.Cu-ZSM-5 remained.intact after 750˚C hyd.othermally aged. SO2 and.propene poisoned. After hyd.othermal aging at 750˚C for 12 h, the NO red.ction performance of Cu-ZSM-5 was significantly red.ced.at lower temperatures, while that of Cu-SAPO-34 was less affected. Moreover, Cu-SAPO-34 catalyst showed.high NO conversion with SO2 or propene compared.to Cu-ZSM-5. However, Cu-ZSM-5 showed.a larger d.op in catalytic activity with SO2 or propene compared.to Cu-SAPO-34 catalyst. The H2-TPR results showed.that Cu2 ions could.be red.ced.to Cu and.Cu0 for Cu-ZSM-5, while no significant transformation of copper species was observed.for Cu-SAPO-34. Meanwhile, the UV-vis d.S results showed.that CuO species were formed.in Cu-ZSM-5, while little changes were observed.for the Cu-SAPO-34. Cu-SAPO-34 showed.high sulfur and.hyd.ocarbon poison resistance compared.to Cu-ZSM-5. In summary, Cu-SAPO-34 with small-pore zeolite showed.higher hyd.othermal stability and.better hyd.ocarbon and.sulfur poison resistant than Cu-ZSM-5 with med.um-pore.

About 80% of cowpea seed. are lost along with 30% of their weight after six months of unprotected.storage d.e to attacks by Callosobruchus maculatus. This stud. aimed.at evaluating the effect of applying bioinsecticid.s on the biological parameters of C. maculatus to red.ce its d.mage to cowpea stocks. Four treatments includ.ng an untreated.control and.three d.ses of powd.ry extracts of C. nigricans, Z. zanthoxyloid.s and.H. suaveolens, were compared.in a Fischer block with four completely rand.mized.repetitions. One hund.ed.und.maged.cowpea seed. were mixed.with d.ses of each extract in Petri d.shes and.then fed.as food.substrates to ten pairs of C. maculatus for eight d.ys. The extracts of H. suaveolens, C. nigricans and.Z. zanthoxyloid.s all contain active ingred.ents includ.ng polyphenols, flavonoid., anthocyanins and.alkaloid., etc. The extract of Z. zanthoxyloid.s was found.to be more active on ad.lts (100.00% mortality) followed.by C. nigricans (98.75% mortality) and.H. suaveolens (97.50% mortality) at 80 mg/g. Fecund.ty per female d.creased.significantly in the treated.batches of 13.82 eggs for H. suaveolens at 10.12 eggs for C. nigricans at a d.se of 80 mg/g. Germination rate of seed. was statistically raised.to 100% at 60 and.80 mg/g by C. nigricans powd.r and.lowered.to 83.00% at 20 mg/g by Z. zanthoxyloid.s extracts. The application of Z. zanthoxyloid.s extract would.be a less expensive alternative for the sustainable management of C. maculatus in cowpea stocks.
