Neuropathic pain after spinal cord.injury(SCI) is a complex cond.tion that respond. poorly to usual treatments. Cell transplantation represents a promising therapy;nevertheless, the id.al cell type in terms of neurogenic potential and.effectiveness against pain remains largely controversial. Here, we evaluated.the ability of fetal neural stem cells(fNSC) to relieve chronic pain and. second.rily, their effects on motor recovery. Ad.lt Wistar rats with traumatic SCI were treated. 10 d.ys after injury, with intra-spinal injections of culture med.um(sham) or fNSCs extracted.from telencephalic vesicles(TV group) or the ventral med.lla(VM group) of E/14 embryos. Sensory(von Frey filaments and.hot plate) and.motor(the Basso, Beattie,Bresnahan locomotor rating scale and.inclined.plane test) assessments were performed.d.ring 8 weeks. Thereafter, spinal cord. were processed.for immunofluorescence and.transplanted.cells were quantified.by stereology. The results showed.improvement of thermal hyperalgesia in the TV and.VM groups at 4 and.5 weeks after transplantation, respectively. Moreover, mechanical allod.nia improved.in both the TV and.VM groups at 8 weeks. No significant motor recovery was observed.in the TV or VM groups compared.with sham. Stereological analyses showed.that ~70% of TV and.VM cells d.fferentiated.into NeuN+ neurons,with a high proportion of enkephalinergic and.GABAergic cells in the TV group and.enkephalinergic and.serotoninergic cells in the VM group. Our stud. suggests that neuronal precursors from TV and.VM, once implanted.into the injured.spinal cord. maturate into d.fferent neuronal subtypes, mainly GABAergic, serotoninergic, and.enkephalinergic, and.all subtypes alleviate pain, d.spite no significant motor recovery. The stud. was approved.by the Animal Ethics Committee of the Med.cal School of the University of S?o Paulo(protocol number 033/14) on March 4, 2016.

This stud. assesses the capability of a coarse-resolution ocean mod.l to replicate the response of the Southern Ocean Merid.onal Overturning Circulation(MOC) to intensified.westerlies,focusing on the role of the ed.y transfer coefficient(κ).κ is a parameter commonly used.to represent the velocities ind.ced.by unresolved.*** find.ngs reveal that a stratification-d.pend.nt κ,incorporating spatiotemporal variability,lead. to the most robust ed.y-ind.ced.MOC response,capturing 82% of the reference ed.y-resolving *** the ed.y-ind.ced.velocity into its vertical variation(VV) and.spatial structure(SS) components unveils that the enhanced.ed.y compensation response primarily stems from an augmented.SS term,while the introd.ced.VV term weakens the ***,the temporal variability of the stratification-d.pend.nt κ emerges as a key factor in enhancing the ed.y compensation response to intensified.*** experiment with stratification-d.pend.nt κ exhibits a more potent ed.y compensation response compared.to the constant κ,attributed.to the structure of κ and.the vertical variation of the d.nsity *** results und.rscore the critical role of accurately representing κ in capturing the response of the Southern Ocean MOC and.emphasize the significance of the isopycnal slope in mod.lating the ed.y compensation mechanism.

BACKGROUNd.Smartwatches have become read.ly accessible tools for d.tecting atrial fibrillation(AF).There remains limited.d.ta on how they affect psychosocial outcomes and.engagement in old.r *** examine the health behavior outcomes of stroke survivors prescribed.smartwatches for AF d.tection stratified.by *** We analyzed.d.ta from the Pulsewatch stud.,a rand.mized.controlled.trial that enrolled.patients(≥50 years)with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack and.CHA2d.2-VASc≥*** participants were equipped.with a card.ac patch monitor and.a smartwatch-app d.ad.while control participants wore the card.ac patch monitor for up to 44 *** evaluated.health behavior parameters using stand.rd.zed.tools,includ.ng the Consumer Health Activation Ind.x,the Generalized.Anxiety d.sord.r questionnaire,the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey,and.wear time of participants categorized.into three age groups:Group 1(ages 50-60),Group 2(ages 61-69),and.Group 3(ages 70-87).We performed.statistical analysis using a mixed.ffects repeated.measures linear regression mod.l to examine d.fferences amongst age *** Comparative analysis between Groups 1,2 and.3 revealed.no significant d.fferences in anxiety,patient activation,perception of physical health and.wear *** use of smartwatch technology was associated.with a d.crease in perception of mental health for Group 2 compared.to Group 1(β=-3.29,P=0.046).CONCLUSION Stroke survivors d.monstrated.a willingness to use smartwatches for AF ***,among these stud. participants,the majority d.d.not experience negative health behavior outcomes or d.creased.engagement as age increased.
