Surgical treatment of the complications associated with Meckel’s diverticulum is widely accepted, but surgical management of an asymptomatic diverticulum found incidentally during laparotomy for other reasons is controversial. Appendectomy is the most common reason for laparotomy in many pediatric surgery clinics. The most common causes of an intestinal obstruction in the early period after appendectomy are an intra-abdominal abscess, adhesive small bowel obstruction and invagination. Obstruction due to Meckel’s diverticulum is reported rarely. In this study, we present 2 cases, five and eleven years old, with an asymptomatic Meckel’s diverticulum where appendectomy was performed due to acute and perforated appendicitis and obstruction developed due to Meckel’s diverticulitis in the postoperative early stage. Meckel’s diverticulitis must be considered in intestinal obstruction cases developing in the early stages after appendectomy although quite rare.

Free air or gas in mediastinum is defined as pneumomediastinum. This is a rare condition which orginates from over distention of alveolus and alveolar rupture by barotrauma. A 6-year-old boy was admitted to our department with sudden onset, swelling of neck and face that developed during drinking water from tap by using his mouth. Physical examination revealed the presence of subcutaneous emphysema over the two side of the face that extended toward the neck bilaterally. The chest X-ray and CT of the thorax, when performed, revealed the diagnosis of pneumomediastinum and extrathoracic subcutaneous emphysema. Interestingly neither trachea-bronchial nor esophageal pathology was found by emergent rigid bronchoscopy and endoscopy for etiology of pneumomediastinum. Antibiotic treatment and oxygen therapy were given to the patient with chest pain and dyspnea. During the following days, the patient’s condition improved notably, with almost total resolution of the cervical emphysema and pneumomediastinum confirmed by daily chest X-ray and control thorax CT. He was discharged home after 6 days. The emphysema gradually resolved. Pneumomediastinum caused by barotrauma is a rare condition and only conservative treatment is required when the other causes are ruled out.

What Should Be Done if There Is Coronary Artery Disorder in Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm?

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is the most common type of aneurismal diseases. Generally, it is asymptomatic and when it is ruptured, it develops with high morbidity and mortality. Case report: A 62-years-old male patient consulted our emergency with a pain at his dorsum and lumbar part. Cardiologist with a suspicion of coronary artery disorder or dissection, coronary angiography was executed. Consecutive lesions of LAD artery (left anterior descending) 40% - 50% and 90%, CX artery (circumflex) 40% and 80% - 90%, and a lesion of RCA (right coronary artery) 20% - 30% were detected. With a suspicion of rupture, abdominal aneurysm tomography (CT) was demanded. In the tomography, a 7-cm-diameter ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm was diagnosed. Levosimendan support was started. Under the support of levosimendan a Y graft operation was performed. The operation was ended up with levosimendan support considering that coronary bypass would increase mortality and morbidity. Discussion: Approximately 50% of the ruptured aneurysms are died before they reach hospital while the 30% - 70% operated ones are died within 30 days after operation. Early diagnosis and follow-up is extremely important to decrease morbidity and mortality. The patients consulting with rupture must be taken to the operation without delay. What should be done if coronary artery disorder is detected in the patient whose AAA is ruptured and if the bypass is necessary? In our opinion, a decision must be made according to the patient’s clinical condition. As a result of our case, we thought repairing the abdominal aortic aneurysm necessitates the other comorbidites must be treated medically. We aimed to decrease the cardiac oxygen requirement by starting levosimendan and decline afterload. If the patient, whose coronary artery disorder is detected, is under risk and his overall condition is bad, we think that coronary bypass operation can be delayed.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the clinical and demographical characteristics of patients admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) due to maxillofacial trauma (MFT). Methods: This sectional and retrospective study was conducted in Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital ED between 1st March 2010 and 31st March 2017. Into the study, patients with MFT older than 15 years of age were included. Characteristics of patients were recorded. Patients’ characteristics were compared according to presence of fractures. Results: Mean age of the patients was 41.1 ± 18.0 years and a statistically significant relationship was determined between age and presence of fracture (p > 0.05). Of the patients, 74.5% was male and fracture presence was significantly more in males than females (p 0.05). Conclusion: The MFT is a pathology that either leads to its own, or can lead to life-threatening consequences as a result of additional organ injuries. The physician evaluating the patient should determine the MFT and additional pathologies and ensure that the interventions start as soon as possible.

Objective: In this study, we plan to measure plasma Catalase (CAT), Antioxidant Activity (AOA) and Glu- tathione-S-Transferase (GST) levels to understand whether oxidative stress develops or not and whether or not the detoxification mechanism properly functions in children with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with unknown etiology and pathogenesis. Method and Results: Plasma CAT, AOA, and GST activities were spectrophotometrically measured in forty patients (average age 10.27 ± 2.54) and thirty-five (average age, 9.97 ± 2.59) healthy individuals as the control group. While the CAT activity showed no difference in the patient group (P > 0.05) compared to the control group, AOA and GST levels were found significantly meaningful (P = 0.001). Conclusion: In this pilot study ,the study shows that no oxidative stress develops in individuals with ADHD in high AOA and stable CAT activity, and that the de- toxification mechanism functions extremely in high GST activity. These findings need to be supported by other studies.

本文比较了云南大理不同年龄的人工松林(5-8年、10-15年、16-20年)中小兽群落的物种多度、多样性和主要小兽的丰富度,研究了小兽与森林栖境因子(乔木的密度、覆盖度和森林底层灌木和草本植物的覆盖度、密度、物种多度)的关系,探讨了小兽群落在中国西南人工森林的演替,以及地表植物和森林覆盖度对小兽群落的影响。研究结果显示,地表植物的物种多度和丰富度随着森林的年龄增长而增大,但是小兽群落的物种多度和多样性随着森林年龄的增长而变小。小兽与森林栖境因子的回归关系显示小兽群落的物种多度和多样性与地表植物(PC1)成负相关关系。小兽群落的优势物种随着森林的年龄有明显的演替。在年龄最小的森林(5-8年)中,大绒鼠(***)和齐氏姬鼠(***)是优势物种;在10-15年森林齐氏姬鼠(***)和锡金小鼠(***)是优势物种;在年龄最大的森林(16-20年)中,贝氏树(***)和珀氏长吻松鼠(***)

This paper addresses the challenges of System-on-Chip designs using High-Level Synthesis (HLS). HLS tools convert algorithms designed in C into hardware modules. This approach is a practical choice for developing complex applications. Nevertheless, certain hardware considerations are required when writing C applications for HLS tools. Hence, in order to demonstrate the fundamental hardware design concepts, a case studyis presented. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) implementation in ANSI C is examined in order to explore the important design issues such as concurrency, data recurrences and memory accesses that need to be resolved before generating the hardware using HLS tools. There are additional language constraints that need to be addressed including use of pointers, recursion and floating point types.
