Flavor violating Higgs signals, such as the top FCNC decay t→ch0 and the LFV Higgs decay h0→τμ, have been studied at the LHC. These signals can arise within the general Two-Higgs Doublet Model （THDM）, where each Higgs doublet couples to all fermion types through Yukawa matrices Yf 1 and Y f2 . The Yukawa matrices can be assumed to have the same form or they could have different structures. In this paper we study the case when both Yf1 and Y f2 have completely different forms, but in such a way that they complement to produce a specific hermitian mass matrix. We find that for specific four-zero textures, the flavor violating Higgs couplings depend only on the free parameters tan β, γf and the fermion masses. We use the current bounds on the low energy processes to derive constraints on the heavy Higgs boson mass, tanβand γf Then, we use these constraints to evaluate the LFV Higgs decays, which reach branching ratios that could be tested at the LHC.

We propose a multi-crossover and adaptive island based population algorithm(MAIPA).This technique divides the entire population into subpopulations,or demes,each with a different crossover function,which can be switched according to the *** addition,MAIPA reverses the philosophy of conventional genetic *** gives priority to the autonomous improvement of the individuals(at the mutation phase),and introduces dynamism in the crossover *** subpopulation begins with a very low value of crossover probability,and then varies with the change of the current generation number and the search performance on recent *** mechanism helps prevent premature *** this research,the effectiveness of this technique is tested using three well-known routing problems,i.e.,the traveling salesman problem(TSP),capacitated vehicle routing problem(CVRP),and vehicle routing problem with backhauls(VRPB).MAIPA proves to be better than a traditional island based genetic algorithm for all these three problems.

AIM： To evaluate rational and experiential intelligence in irritable bowel syndrome （IBS） sufferers. METHODS： We recruited 100 subjects with IBS as per Rome 11 criteria （50 consulters and 50 non-consulters） and 100 healthy controls, matched by age, sex and educational level. Cases and controls completed a clinical questionnaire （including symptom characteristics and medical consultation） and the following tests： rational- intelligence （Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, 3rd edition）; experiential-intelligence （Constructive Thinking Inventory）; personality （NEO personality inventory）; psychopathology （MMPI-2）, anxiety （state-trait anxiety inventory） and life events （social readjustment rating scale）. Analysis of variance was used to compare the test results of IBS-sufferers and controls, and a logistic regression model was then constructed and adjusted for age, sex and educational level to evaluate any possible association with IBS. RESULTS： No differences were found between IBS cases and controls in terms of IQ （102.0 ± 10.8 vs 102.8 ± 12.6）, but IBS sufferers scored significantly lower in global constructive thinking （43.7± 9.4 vs 49.6 ± 9.7）. In the logistic regression model, global constructive thinking score was independently linked to suffering from IBS [OR 0.92 （0.87-0.97）], without significant OR for total IQ. CONCLUSION： IBS subjects do not show lower rational intelligence than controls, but lower experiential intelligence is nevertheless associated with IBS.

AIM:To investigate the capability of a biochemical and clinical model,BioCliM,in predicting the survival of cirrhotic ***:We prospectively evaluated the survival of 172 cirrhotic *** model was constructed using clinical(ascites,encephalopathy and variceal bleeding) and biochemical(serum creatinine and serum total bilirubin) variables that were selected from a Cox proportional hazards *** was applied to estimate 12-,52-and 104-wk *** model's calibration using the Hosmer-Lemeshow statistic was computed at 104 wk in a validation ***,the model's validity was tested among an independent set of 85 patients who were stratified into 2 risk groups(low risk≤8 and high risk>8).RESULTS:In the validation cohort,all measures of fi t,discrimination and calibration were improved when the biochemical and clinical model was *** proposed model had better predictive values(c-statistic:0.90,0.91,0.91) than the Model for End-stage Liver Disease(MELD) and Child-Pugh(CP) scores for 12-,52-and 104-wk mortality,*** addition,the Hosmer-Lemeshow(H-L) statistic revealed that the biochemical and clinical model(H-L,4.69) is better calibrated than MELD(H-L,17.06) and CP(H-L,14.23).There were no significant differences between the observed and expected survival curves in the stratified risk groups(low risk,P=0.61;high risk,P=0.77).CONCLUSION:Our data suggest that the proposed model is able to accurately predict survival in cirrhotic patients.

Background: The poor prognosis of patients with high-grade glioma multiform (GBM) has led investigators to the search of new therapeutic strategies. Current treatment includes surgery when possible, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Molecular-targeted therapies are in the process of clinical testing, and promising agents include monoclonal antibodies. Our study examined the antitumor activity of three different single therapies in nude mice bearing both subcutaneous and orthotopic brain xenografts of the U87MG human GBM cell line. Methods: Cell culture, Histology, Immunohistochemistry, Animal experiments, Statistical analysis. Results: Different groups of treatment included nimotuzumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits the EGFR tyrosine kinase activity, or total body irradiation, or the chemotherapeutic agent temozolomide (TMZ). For the control group animals received saline solution instead of the antibody. For the subcutaneous model, only nimotuzumab or TMZ produced a significant delay in tumor growth. In the intracranial model, unlike TMZ, the systemic administration of the antibody did not reduce the tumor growth, despite both therapies inhibited the formation of microsatellites in the brain of mice. The antitumor activity of nimotuzumab was accompanied by a decrease in the microvessel density and the proliferative activity of tumor cells. TMZ only inhibited the tumor cell proliferation but not the formation of new tumor-associated microvessels in xenografts. For radiation therapy, neither antiproliferative nor antiangiogenic activity was found, in accordance with the lack of antitumor activity. Only nimotuzumab reduced the frequency of chemo and radioresistant CD133+ population. Conclusion: Our results illustrate the potential efficacy of nimotuzumab as a single agent against an EGFR-amplified human GBM, a tumor resistant to the therapy with all well-known forms of treatment.

The balance between cell proliferation and cell growth characterizes tissue homeostasis on one side and cell death on the other side. Fas receptor-mediated apoptosis is a control mechanism for tissue homeostasis, and avoiding this death pathway predisposes to many human diseases, including cancer. Current therapies for this disease are invasive and do not have the desired effect in the control of the disease. In this context, the search for new drugs that contribute to a better treatment is gaining more relevance. 4-tert-butyl-bis-(2,6-thiomorpholin-4-ylmethyl)-1-phenol (LQM319) [1,2] is a drug currently in preclinical stage, and we have shown that it has a hypertensive effect, similar to captopril, in a hypertensive rat model. Different studies have shown that some chemicals that are used as antihypertensive agents have an antineoplastic effect against certain types of cancer, as is the case of hydralazine [3], and captopril [4], among others [5]. On the other hand, it has been reported that morpholine derivatives may activate Fas (CD95)-mediated apoptosis. The aim of the present study was to show the interaction between CD95 (receptor) and thiomorpholine derivatives (ligand) using molecular modeling and docking studies, and to elucidate the possible action mechanism of 4-tert-butyl-bis-(2,6-thiomorpholin-4-ylmethyl)-1-phenol.

Effect of Substrate Temperature on Structural and Photoluminescence Properties of ZnO：SiOx Composites

Using zinc oxide (ZnO) powder and quartz rods as solid sources and molecular hydrogen (H2) as reactant gas, ZnO: SiOx composites were grown by hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) technique. The absorbance spectra showed the formation of ZnO: SiOx composite in the studied temperature range. The crystalline quality of the ZnO lattice in the structure of the composite gradually lost by increasing the substrate temperature. Visible emission from blue to near-infrared region was found in the photoluminescence spectra of the composite formed at 1,100 °C. The contribution of blue, green, yellow and orange emissions present in the photoluminescence spectra of the composite formed at 1,100 °C was attributed to recombination centers produced by the presence of point defects in the structure of ZnO network. This result suggests that the ZnO in the ZnO: SiOx composite obtained at substrate temperature of 1,100 °C has an amorphous phase.

Construct and Convergent Validity of the OIS-Garcia （Optimist Interactive Style） Scales in a Mexican Population

This is a report of the validation process of two scales that measure the OIS-Garcia (optimist interactive style). An attempt was made to establish construct and convergent validity for these two scales. Towards this end, we relied on the Spanish version of the LOT-R (life orientation test-revised). Participants were 350 relatives of a cancer patient with a mean age of 39.87 years (SD = 14.88) and an age range going from 15 to 79 years. Each of the new versions of the OIS1-Garcia and OIS2-Garcia comprised 10 items. The Chronbach alpha internal consistency coefficients were 0.701 for the OIS1 and 0.633 for the OIS2. The Spearman correlation coefficient among these two tests was 0.438, the correlation among LOT-R and OIS1-Garcia was 0.382, and the correlation among LOT-R and OIS2-Garcia was 0.468. As a result, we were able to partially validate both versions of the OIS-Garcia test. These findings serve as encouragement to develop more culturally sensitive and appropriate measurement instruments for specific cultures or populations.
