A Multi-centered Cross-sectional Study of Disease Burden of Pain of Inpatients in Southwest China

Background：Pain is a common burden of disease globally;yet,it is not systematically investigated in China,especially in hospitalized *** study was aimed at clarifying the epidemiological characteristics of pain and related factors in hospitalized patients in Southwest ***：A cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the prevalence,severity,and influencing factors of pain and modes of postoperative analgesia in hospitalized patients from 17 hospitals in Southwest China.A prevalidated questionnaire was employed to calibrate all of these items within 3 days from March 18,2015 to March 20,***：A total of 2293 patients were surveyed,the incidence of pain was 57.4% in all hospitalized patients at rest,of which 62.1% were with acute pain and 37.9% had persistent to chronic *** surgical patients,90.8% of them complained of acute postoperative pain at rest and 97.1% in *** incidence of acute postoperative moderate-to-severe pain was 28.8% at rest and 45.1% in *** patients reported higher incidences of pain,especially acute and persistent pain compared with nonsurgical patients （P 〈 0.05）.Postoperative pain occurred predominately at surgical sites （95.2%） as compared with nonsurgical sites （4.8%）.Agedness,lower education level,surgery,and history of smoking were factors associated with increased duration and severity of postoperative pain and nonsurgical pain （P 〈 0.05）.Conclusions：Pain is a common burden of disease in China,of which surgical pain constituted an important *** patients complained more severe pain than those who did not undergo *** analgesia still needs to be improved to control pain after ***＆#39; perception might influence the efficacy of pain management,which should be implemented with a multidisciplinary approach.

Heat Stress Upregulates the Expression of TLR4 and Its Alternative Splicing Variant in Bama Miniature Pigs

Alternative splicing is a cellular mechanism in eukaryotes that results in considerable diversity ofgene products. It plays an important role in several diseases and cellular signal regulation. Heat stress is a major factor that induces immunosuppression in pigs. Little is known about the correlation between alternative splicing and heat stress in pigs. Therefore, this study aimed to clone, sequence and quantify the alternative splicing variant of toll-like receptor 4 （TLR4） in Bama miniature pigs （Sus scrofa domestica） following exposure to heat stress. The results showed that the second exon of TLR4 was spliced and 167 bp shorter in the alternative splicing variant, and the protein was putatively identified as a type of truncated membrane protein consisting of extramembrane, transmembrane and intramembrane regions lacking a signal peptide. Further, it was not a non- classical secretory protein. Five potential reference genes were screened for their potential as reliable standards to quantify the expression of TLR4 alternative spliced variants by real-time quantitative reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction （qRT-PCR）. The stability of these reference genes was ranked using the geNorm and NormFinder programs, and ribosomal protein L4 （RPL4） and TATA box-binding protein （TBP） were found to be the two genes showing the most stable expression in the in vitro cultured peripheral blood mononuclear ceils （PBMCs） during heat shock. The mRNA level of the TLR4 gene （both classical and spliced） in stressed pigs increased significantly （P〈0.05）. Further, the expression levels of the alternative spliced variant of TLR4 （TLR4-ASV） showed a 2-3 folds increase in heat-stressed PBMCs as compared to control pigs. The results of the present study suggested that heat shock might modulate the host immune response by regulating the expressions of TLR4 and its alternative splicing variant.

Different responses of soil fauna gut and plant rhizosphere microbiomes to manure applications

Controllable Preparation of Branched Polyolefins with Various Microstructural Units via Chain-walking Ethylene and Pentene Polymerizations

Branched polyolefins with controllable topology structures were generated from the chain-walking(co)polymerizations of ethylene,1-pentene(1P)and 2-pentene(2P)using Brookhart-typeα-diimine Ni(II)-based catalysts possessing different para-substituted groups,{[(4-R-2-Et-6-Me-C6H2N=C)2Nap]NiBr2,Nap:1,8-naphthdiyl;R=CHMePh,Ni1;R=Ph,Ni2;R=H,Ni3}.The X-ray diffraction analysis demonstrated that the crystalline structure of Ni1′is in centrosymmetric dimer structure mode with the bimetallic Ni center connected by two bromide *** para-sec-phenethyl moiety in the catalyst Ni1 obviously improved its catalytic performance and thermal stability in the ethylene *** Ni1/Et2AlCl system showed great catalytic activities(up to 7.73×106 g·mol-1·h-1)and achieved polyethylene(PE)with alkyl chains,including Me,Et,n-Pr,n-Bu,sec-Bu branches and longer chains(Lg).Compared with the 1-pentene polymerization,this catalyst system successfully mediated the polymerization of 2P to give highly branched polymers with approximately 195 branches/1000C possessing Me,Et,and n-Pr branches and a long methylene sequence due to the monomer *** Et branches derived from 2,3-insertion is slightly less than the sum of Me and n-Pr branches derived from 3,2-insertion,indicating that the 3,2-insertion mode is a slightly favorable pathway in the polymerization of 2P.

Critical cooling rates for producing metallic glasses were evaluated based on a calculated continuous cooling transformation(CCT)*** distributions of the melt in molten pool in the vertical type twin-roll casting(VTRC)process of metallic glasses were simulated,and cooling rates under different casting conditions were calculated with the simulated *** comparing the results obtained by CCT diagrams and simulation,the possibility of producing metallic glasses by the VTRC method and influences of casting conditions on cooling rate were *** results reveal that cooling rate with3or4orders of magnitude by the VTRC process can be attained in producing Mg-based metallic glasses,which is faster than the critical cooling rate calculated by the CCT *** side pouring mode can improve the temperature distributions of casting *** process has a good ability in continuous casting metallic glassy thin strips.

The succession of fecal bacterial community and its correlation with the changes of serum immune indicators in lambs from birth to 4 months

Early bacterial colonization and succession within the gastrointestinal tract have been suggested to be crucial in the development of host *** this study,we have investigated the changes in live weight and concentrations of selected serum parameters in relation to their fecal bacterial communities as determined by high throughput sequencing of the 16S r RNA gene over the same period in *** results showed that lambs’growth performance,the serum parameters,fecal bacterial community and fecal bacterial functions were all affected(P<0.05)by age of the *** within age groups of fecal microbiota was lower in the preweaning period and increased sharply(P<0.05)after weaning at 60 *** similarity between the samples collected from birth to 90 days of age and those collected at 120 days of age,increased(P<0.05)sharply after 30 days of *** age-associated changes in microbial genera were correlated with the changes in concentrations of immune indicators,including negative(P<0.05)correlations between the relative abundance of Lachnospiraceae UCG-010,Eubacterium coprostanoligenes group,Ruminococcaceae UCG-005,Ruminococcaceae UCG-009,Ruminococcaceae UCG-013,Ruminiclostridium 6,Ruminococcaceae UCG-008,and Oscillibacter with serum concentrations of lipopolysaccharide(LPS),D-lactate dehydrogenase(DLA),immunoglobulin(IgA,IgM,and IgG),and cytokines(interleukin-1β(IL-1β),IL-6,IL-12,and IL-17),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and the relative abundance of these genera increased from 45 days of *** conclusion,these results suggested that the age-related abundances of particular genera were correlated with serum markers of immunity in lambs,and there might be a critical window in the period from birth to 45 days of age which provide an opportunity for potential manipulation of the fecal microbial ecosystems to enhance immune function.

Dynamic change of fungal community in the gastrointestinal tract of growing lambs

Although fungal communities in the gastrointestinal tract have a significant role in animal health and performance,their dynamics within the tract are not well ***,this study investigated fungal community dynamics in the rumen and rectum of lambs from birth to 4 mon of age by using IT1S rDNA sequencing technology together with the RandomForest approach to determine age-related changes in the fungal *** results indicated that gastrointestinal fungal community composition,diversity,and abundance altered(P<0.05)with the increasing age of the *** phyla,Ascomycota and Basidiomycota,dominated the *** within age groups of the rumen fungi increased sharply after 45 days of age,while the similarity increased(P<0.05)significantly after 60 days of age in the *** age-related genera,Acremonium,Microascus,Valsonectria,Myrmecridium,Scopulariopsis,Myrothecium,Saccharomyces,and Stephanonectria,were presented in both ruminal and rectal communities,and their changes in relative abundance were consistent at both *** principal coordinates analysis showed significant differences(P<0.05)between the fungal communities in the rumen and *** findings demonstrate that both the age of lambs and the gastrointestinal tract region can affect the composition of these fungal communities,and this provides new insight and directions for future studies in this research area.
