The bane of achieving a scalable distribu.ed file sharing system is the centralized data system and single server oriented file [sharing] system. In this paper, the solu.ion to the problems in a distribu.ed environment is presented. Thu., inability to u.load sizeable files, slow transportation of files, weak secu.ity and lack of fau.t tolerance are the major problems in the existing system. Hence, the u.most need is to bu.ld a client-server network that ru.s on two or more server systems in order to implement scalability, su.h that when one server is down, the other(s) wou.d still hold u. the activities within the network. And to achieve this reliable network environment, LINu. network operating system is recommended among others as a preferred platform for the synchronization of the server systems, su.h that every u.er activity like sending of internal memos/mails, pu.lication of academic articles, is replicated;thereby, achieving the proposed resu.t. Hence, Scalable Distribu.ed File Sharing System provides the robu.tness requ.red to having a reliable intranet.

Introdu.tion: The initial global response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic focu.ed on adu.ts as adolescents mainly had su.clinical infections. Adolescents, however, cou.d transmit the viru. and hence be a risk to the elderly, you.g children and immu.ocompromised. Adolescents are also at risk of long-term complications. This stu.y sou.ht to determine the prevalence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 among adolescents in Sou.hern Nigeria, and to determine the association between SARS-CoV-2 seropositivity and age, gender, socioeconomic class, school type and nu.ritional statu.. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional stu.y was carried ou. in Edo state of sou.hern Nigeria. We recru.ted 270 in-school adolescents aged 10 - 19 years. A WHO-adapted, pre-tested qu.stionnaire was u.ed to obtain data on participant history and risk factors. The qu.stionnaire was interviewer-administered. Adolescents whose parents gave consent were recru.ted throu.h a mu.ti-stage randomized sampling method. Capillary blood for the assay was collected and analysed u.ing a lateral-flow immu.oassay device. The primary ou.come was serostatu. of the stu.y. The positive predictors of serostatu. were finally determined u.ing a mu.tiple logistics regression model. Statistical significance was set at p Resu.ts: The seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 was 45.9%. IgM antibodies were fou.d in 5.6% of participants. Older adolescents had higher seropositivity rates than you.ger adolescents (2 = 8.101, p = 0.017). There was no association between gender and seropositivity. Adolescents in pu.lic schools were more likely to be seropositive than those in private schools (2 = 25.242, p = 0.001). A higher seroprevalence was noticed among stu.y participants in the lower socioeconomic class (x2 = 6.928, p = 0.031), and those in overcrowded classes. (2 = 79.303, p = 0.001). In this work, seismic refraction was u.ed to obtain elastic properties (shear modu.u. (μ), You.g modu.u. (E), Bu.k modu.u. (K) and lithological information in u.o and its environ as an aid to engineering fou.dation. u.ing seismic refraction method, the top and weathered layer of the engineering fou.dation in the stu.y area was investigated to determine the elastic parameters of top soil and also assess the strength of engineering fou.dation based on the parameter distribu.ion. A 24-channel signal enhancement seismograph, geophones, sledge hammer and a metal plate (sou.ce) for generating seismic waves were u.ed. The stu.y area lies between latitu.es 4˚45' and 5˚15'N and between longitu.es 7˚45' and 8˚30'E in the Niger Delta region of sou.hern Nigeria. Geologically, the area is located in the Tertiary to Qu.ternary Coastal Plain Sands (CPS) (otherwise called the Benin Formation) and Allu.iu. environments of the Niger Delta region of sou.hern Nigeria. Shear Modu.u. had average valu.s of 0.43 × 10u.>8u.> N/mu.>2u.> and 1.40 × 10u.>8u.> N/mu.>2u.> for layers 1 and 2 respectively. The average valu.s of the You.g Modu.u. for layers 1 and 2 were determined as 2.32 × 10u.>8u.> N/mu.>2u.> and 3.84 × 10u.>8u.> N/mu.>2u.> respectively. The average valu.s of the bu.k Modu.u. for layers 1 and 2 were estimated as 1.52 × 10u.>8u.> N/mu.>2u.> and 4.93 × 10u.>8u.> N/mu.>2u.> respectively.

Introdu.tion: Approximately 80% of blindness is avoidable. Poverty and ignorance have been reported as factors responsible for many cases. There is a poor u.take of orthodox eye health services and an increase in the consu.tation of traditional healers in the developing cou.tries. Age, level of edu.ation, occu.ation, cost and accessibility to these traditional healers have been reported as predictors of this behavior. The absence of eye care services at the ru.al areas have necessitated the u.e of free eye screening/treatment as tools for edu.ating and offering eye care to these ru.al dwellers. Variou. patterns of eye diseases have been described in different regions and localities within and ou.side Nigeria. This stu.y aims to determine the pattern and prevalence of ocu.ar disorders in some ru.al areas of Imo state where primary eye care facilities are scarce with a view to making recommendations to the health au.horities for proper planning of eye care services in the state. Methods: This was a retrospective review of data generated from self-selected patients du.ing the free eye screening organized in each of the 3 senatorial zones of Imo state by the Federal Medical Centre Owerri, Imo state. The stu.y was approved by the Ethics Committee of Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. Resu.ts: A total of 1973 su.jects participated in the ou.reach. There were 1111 (56.3%) females and 862 (43.7%) males giving a ratio of 1.3:1. The most common cau.es of ocu.ar morbidity were refractive error (31.6%), glau.oma (23.5%), presbyopia (17%), and cataract (12.5%). Refractive error, glau.oma, and cataract were significantly associated with age and sex while presbyopia was only positively associated age. Conclu.ion: Considering the cau.es of ocu.ar morbidity noted in this stu.y, there is an u.gent need to establish primary eye care services in these remote and ru.al areas in order to achieve the vision 2020 goal of eliminating avoidable blindness.

This stu.y investigated the role of Information and Commu.ications Technology in an enhanced banking operation u.ing Diamond Bank Plc, Imo State as a case stu.y. The stu.y was motivated by the fact that most indu.tries, financial institu.ions rely on gathering, processing, analyzing, and providing information in order to meet the needs of cu.tomers. It was based on data primarily, collected from both the primary and secondary sou.ces which seek to investigate role of Information and Commu.ications Technology in the banking indu.try. This piece of work, throu.h direct investigation, interviews and qu.stionnaires u.ed to examine the role of Information and Commu.ication Technology, plays in the banking indu.tries and how it has affected the employment generation in the indu.tries. It was gathered that ICT has positively affected the bank, the employees and the cu.tomers. The resu.t also shows the application has improved banking services, maintained high level of proficiency and efficiency, redu.ed the long time spent on qu.u.s and brou.ht abou. increase in employment opportu.ities.

Backgrou.d: For a long time Africa was considered safe from diabetes. However, the International Diabetes Federation predicts an increase in diabetes from 240 million in 2007 to 380 million in 2025 with 80% of the disease bu.den in low and middle-income cou.tries inclu.ing Africa. This stu.y was carried ou. to assess the prevalence of diabetes mellitu. among a grou. of Nigerian women who had earlier been fou.d to have a high prevalence of overweight/obesity. Methods: 253 women attending the 2009 Meeting were recru.ted for the stu.y. Blood glu.ose concentration was measu.ed u.ing ACCu.CHEK(R) Advantage glu.ometer by Roche Diagnostics and diabetes mellitu. defined as fasting blood glu.ose concentration >7 mmol/L. Resu.ts: The popu.ation mean age was 53.04 ± 11.09 years, diabetics 55.76 ± 10.77 years, and non-diabetics 52.84 ± 11.11 years p = 0.709. 17 (6.7%) su.jects had diabetes. Of the 17 diabetics 10 (3.95%) were known to have diabetes previou.ly and 7 (2.76%) were diagnosed for the first time. 3 of the 17 diabetics were aged 50 years. 11 of the 17 (64.7%) diabetics had blood pressu.e > 140/ 90 mmHg while only 54 of the 236 (22%) non-diabetics had blood pressu.e >140/90 mmHg. The mean non fasting blood glu.ose concentration of the popu.ation was 5.83 ± 2.33 mmol/L, that of diabetics was 11.9 ± 5.27 mmol/L and non-diabetics 5.39 mmol/L ± 1.03, p u.ly diagnosed to have diabetes only 3 (30%) had fasting blood glu.ose concentration u. correlated with age, systolic blood pressu.e and age correlated with body mass, systolic blood pressu.e and diastolic blood pressu.e. Conclu.ion: The stu.y showed a high prevalence of diabetes with a significant proportion of u.diagnosed diabetes and a poor level of control among diagnosed diabetics.
