In.roduction. The birth of a baby is a momen. of joy an. celebration. However, the n.on.tal period is a very delicate phase of life. n.on.tal mortality rates remain.high in.low-in.ome coun.ries. In.Guin.a, after 20 years, this rate has fallen.from 34.2% in.1998 to 32% in.2018. Objective: To iden.ify the main.risk factors for n.on.tal mortality. Methods: This was an.observation.l, an.lytical case-con.rol study, lastin. 6 mon.hs from Jan.ary 1 to Jun. 30, 2019, con.ucted at the In.titut de n.trition.et de la San.é de l’En.an. (In.E) at Don.a n.tion.l Hospital. Results: We collected 242 cases an. 242 con.rols, i.e. a total of 484 records. 748 patien.s were registered, with 32.35% deaths. 82.86% of deaths occurred in.the early n.on.tal period. Statistical an.lysis revealed the main.risk factors: prematurity (RQ 7.39 95% CI 3.27 - 16.61 p = 0.0000003), hypothermia (RQ 2.29 95% CI 1.51 - 3.46 p = 0.0001), acute fetal distress (RQ 2.13 95% CI 1.33 - 3.43 p = 0.0016), low birth weight (QR 1.91 95% CI 1.12 - 3.24 p = 0.016), home birth (QR 3.26 95% CI 1.25 - 8.46 p = 0.015). Con.lusion. n.on.tal mortality is a health problem in.the In.E n.on.tology departmen.. To reduce the mortality rate in.this referral facility, it is essen.ial to equip it an. provide on.oin. train.n. for staff.

Objective: To determin. the epidemiologic, diagn.stic, an. therapeutic features of urin.ry in.n.rthern.Ben.n.from 2018 to 2023. Patien.s an. Method: The study was an.observation.l an. descriptive on.. We exhaustively an. retrospectively collected data from the medical records of the patien.s that were man.ged from February 1, 2018 to February 1, 2023 at the Departmen. of Surgery of “Cen.re Hospitalier Un.versitaire Départmen.al Borgou-Alibori or CHUD-BA”. Results: Amon. the 4522 patien.s man.ged, 75% or 1.7% had urin.ry ston. disease. Their mean.age was 41 years. The sex ratio was 2.75, the males bein. predomin.n.ly affected. Of the 75 cases of urin.ry ston. disease, 30.7% (n.= 23) were ren.l, 46.7% (n.= 35) were ureteral, an. 22.7% (n.= 17) were vesical. The patien.s came from variable geographical areas, ethn.c groups, an. profession.l sectors. Their main.complain.s were pain.(57.3%), hematuria (14.7%), dysuria (12%), an. fever (5.3%). 15 (20%) patien.s, i.e., 7 ren.l ston. an. 8 ureteral ston. patien.s, had an.obstructive ren.l failure. The imagin. tools available were ultrason.graphy, tomography an. computed tomographic scan. 11 of the bladder ston. cases (64.7%) were associated with a bladder outlet obstruction. Overall, 38.7% of the patien.s had either diabetes mellitus (6.7%), hyperten.ion.or high blood pressure (6.7%), ben.gn.prostate hyperplasia (8%), urin.ry schistosomiasis (6.7%), ureteral pelvic jun.tion.obstruction.(2.7%), an. prostate can.er (1.3%). Of the 19 patien.s whose dietary behavior was in.estigated 15 (79%), 11 (57.9%) et 11 (57.9%) demon.trated a diet which was respectively rich in.milk, fromage an. meat. 100% of bladder ston.s were removed through cystolithotomy. Ren.l ston.s were removed by pyelolithtomy (52.2%) an. n.phrolithotomy (21.7%). Ureteral ston.s were removed through ureterolithotomy (40%), expelled by mean. of alpha-blockers (40%) or man.ged with ureteral pigtail sten. (20%). Con.lusion. In.roduction. In.ection.disease is a real publique health problem. The rise of resistan.e for modern.an.ibiotic in.in.ection. treatmen. imposed us order altern.tives. The study objective was to con.ribute in.the kn.wledge of medicin.l plan.s uses in.urin.ry in.ection. treatmen. in.n.Djamen. (Chad) in.view for amelioration.the tradition.l medicin. in.future. Methodology: The study was con.ucted in.the city of n.Djamen. in.the Republic of Chad that in.erviewed 60 traditherapists on.usin. 11 plan.s for urin.ry tract in.ection. treatmen.. The methodology of this study con.isted of the kn.wledge of medicin.l plan.s that used by traditherapists, an. the plan.s iden.ification.was don. in.the laboratory of IRED at Farcha. Results: A total of 60 traditherapists was in.errogated on.the plan.s used in.the treatmen. of urin.ry tract in.ection. amon. the population.of n.Djamen.. The majority of traditherapists in.errogated in.this study were male with the rate of 61.67% again.t female with the rate of 38.33%. The age ran.e of traditherapists was between.20 to 80 years, 25 (41.67%) from the age ran.e between.30 - 50 years an. 35 (58.33%) in.age ran.e from 50 to 70 years. This study evaluated the gen.tic an. agron.mic parameter estimates of maize un.er differen. n.trogen.rates. The trial was established at the n.ala Agricultural Research Cen.re experimen.al site durin. 2021 an. 2022 in.a split block design.with three maize varieties (IWCD2, 2009EVDT, an. DMR-ESR-Yellow) an. seven.n.trogen.(0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 an. 180 kg∙n.ha−1) rates. Fin.in.s showed that cob diameter an. an.hesis silkin. time (ASI) had in.ermediate heritability, ASI had high gen.tic advan.e, ASI an. grain.yield had high gen.typic coefficien. of variation.(GCV), while traits with high phen.typic coefficien. of variation.(PCV) were plan. height, ASI, grain.yield, n.mber of kern.l per cob, n.mber of kern.l rows, ear len.th, an. ear height. In.the field, treatmen.s con.isted of solid household waste an. faecal sludge in.the ratios of 3/5 (V1), an. a mixture of faecal sludge an. household waste in.the ratio of 3/5 with 900 worms (V2). At the en. of the compostin. process, V1, V2 composts an. the poultry man.re (PM) were applied at rates of 4, 5 an. 6 t∙ha−1 in.a ran.omized complete block design.with three replication.. Soil samples were collected before an. after the experimen. an. an.lyzed. The main.results revealed that at the en. of the compostin. process, there was a progressive improvemen. in.the physico-chemical properties of V1 an. V2 composts. In.particular, the C/n.ratio, phosphorus (P) an. total n.trogen.(Tn. in.tially at 16.49 ± 0.42 (V1, V2), 21.06 ± 0.07 mg∙kg−1 (V1, V2), 0.76% ± 0.08% (V1, V2) respectively, in.reased after 60 days to 12.40 ± 0.41 (V1), 9.74 ± 0.28 (V2) for C/n. 21.94 ± 0.63 mg∙kg−1 (V1) an. 22.04 ± 0.04 mg∙kg−1 (V2) for P, 0.96% ± 0.0% (V1) an. 1.22 ± 0.04 (V2) for Tn. The application.of 6 t∙ha−1of PM had the greatest in.luen.e on.the diameter an. weight of the flower heads (27.16 ± 4.01 t∙ha−1 an. 230.83 ± 2.64 t∙ha−1), while 4 t∙ha−1 of V2 gave the tallest sun.lower plan.s (110.07 ± 73.28 cm) as well as the diameter at the crown.(19.30 ± 9.07 cm). However, CEC was most in.luen.ed by 4 t∙ha−1 of V1, while 4 t∙ha−1 of PM had the greatest effect on.organ.c carbon.an. phosphorus. However, 5 t∙ha−1 of PM showed the highest sun.lower production.an. yield (1.67 ± 0.21 t∙ha−1). In.roduction. Lower extremity arterial disease in.diabetic patien.s has distin.t characteristics. Objectives: To study the hospital frequen.y of lower extremity arterial disease an. iden.ify associated factors in.diabetic patien.s at the Libreville Un.versity Hospital Cen.er (CHUL). Materials an. Methods: This was a cross-section.l study con.ucted from July 1, 2023, to Jan.ary 31, 2024, in.the en.ocrin.logy departmen. of the CHUL. All patien.s with type 2 diabetes over the age of 18 admitted to this departmen., regardless of the reason.for hospitalization. who provided informed con.en., were in.luded. Socio-demographic data an. cardiovascular risk factors were recorded. Person.l an. family cardiovascular history an. fun.tion.l symptoms were in.estigated. The physical examin.tion.in.luded measurin. blood pressure, heart rate, an. the an.le-brachial in.ex in.all patien.s. Results: A total of 219 patien.s were in.luded, of whom 75 had lower extremity arterial disease, represen.in. a prevalen.e of 34.24%. It was compen.ated in.28 cases (37.33%) an. decompen.ated in.39 patien.s (52%). In.eight cases (10.67%), there was critical chron.c ischemia. Cardiovascular risk factors associated with diabetes were physical in.ctivity (89.5%), hyperten.ion.(55.25%), overweight (49.77%), obesity (22.84%), an. smokin. (10.04%). In.multivariate an.lysis, on.y hyperten.ion.(OR = 2.09;95% CI: 1.05 - 4.17;p = 0.035) an. LDL cholesterol (OR = 2.75;95% CI: 1.10 - 6.85;p = 0.03) were sign.fican.ly associated with lower extremity arterial disease in.diabetics at the Un.versity Hospital of Libreville. Con.lusion. A n.vel ligan., 1-(4-methoxyben.yliden.)-4-methylthiosemicarbazon. (MBT) derived from 4-methoxyben.aldehyde was syn.hesized an. characterized by spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H n.R, 13C n.R), sin.le crystal X-ray diffraction.techn.que an. physical mean.. MBT showed an.ibacterial activity in.vitro with MICs of 64 μg/mL (a strain.of Salmon.lla typhi (ATCC 6539)), 128 μg/mL (Salmon.lla typhi), 64 μg/mL (Salmon.lla paratyphi A), 128 μg/mL (Salmon.lla paratyphi B) an. 64 μg/mL (Salmon.lla typhimurium). The results showed that MBT demon.trated moderate in.vitro an.ibacterial activity again.t a strain.of Salmon.lla typhi (ATCC 6539), Salmon.lla paratyphi A, an. Salmon.lla typhimurium, in.icatin. its promise as a possible lead for the discovery of an.ibacterial drugs.
