The Impact of Model Based Offset Scaling Technique on the Amplitude Variation with Offset Responses from 3D Seismic Data Acquired from the Tano Basin, Offshore Ghana

Amplitudes have been found to be a function of incident angle and offset. Hence data required to test for amplitude variation with angle or offset needs to have its amplitudes for all offsets preserved and not stacked. Amplitude Variation with Offset (AVO)/Amplitude Variation with Angle (AVA) is necessary to account for information in the offset/angle parameter (mode converted S-wave and P-wave velocities). Since amplitudes are a function of the converted S- and P-waves, it is important to investigate the dependence of amplitudes on the elastic (P- and S-waves) parameters from the seismic data. By modelling these effects for different reservoir fluids via fluid substitution, various AVO geobody classes present along the well and in the entire seismic cube can be observed. AVO analysis was performed on one test well (Well_1) and 3D pre-stack angle gathers from the Tano Basin. The analysis involves creating a synthetic model to infer the effect of offset scaling techniques on amplitude responses in the Tano basin as compared to the effect of unscaled seismic data. The spectral balance process was performed to match the amplitude spectra of all angle stacks to that of the mid (26°) stack on the test lines. The process had an effect primarily on the far (34° - 40°) stacks. The frequency content of these stacks slightly increased to match that of the near and mid stacks. In offset scaling process, the root mean square (RMS) amplitude comparison between the synthetic and seismic suggests that the amplitude of the far traces should be reduced relative to the nears by up to 16%. However, the exact scaler values depend on the time window considered. This suggests that the amplitude scaling with offset delivered from seismic processing is only approximately correct and needs to be checked with well synthetics and adjusted accordingly prior to use for AVO studies. Prevalence of Taurodontism in a Tertiary Hospital in Ghana

Background: Taurodontism is one of the most significant deviations from the normal tooth morphology affecting the molars in both primary and permanent dentition. Taurodontism refers to the Enlargement of the pulp chamber, resulting in its bifurcation pushed toward the apex of a tooth’s root. This study evaluated the prevalence of Taurodontism from radiographs taken at the university of Ghana Dental School Oral Radiology unit from January 2017 to December 2022. Methodology: In this cross-sectional study, panoramic and periapical radiographs of 1000 randomly selected patients who visited the Oral Radiology unit from January 2017 to December 2022. Radiographs were evaluated for apically displaced pulp chamber. Data was statistically evaluated, and the chi-square test was employed to assess the prevalence of taurodontism in the upper and lower jaws (p Results: Taurodontism was found in 171 radiographs giving it a prevalence of 17.1% of which 57% (98 radiographs) were from females and 43% (73 radiographs) were from males. This finding was not significant (p > 0.05). Taurodontism occurred more in the maxilla (289 teeth, 80.7%) compared to the mandible molars (186 teeth, 64.3%) giving it a ratio of 1.6:1. This finding was highly significant (p Conclusion: Taurodontism is relatively common in the Ghanaian population affecting more females compared to males according to this study. Further studies using a large sample need to be carried out to determine its incidence in the general community.

Performance Analysis of 112Gb/s×4-Channel WDM PDM-DQPSK Optical Label Switching System With Spectral Amplitude Code Labels

We present the performance analysis of ll2Gb/s-4 wavelength division multiplexing （WDM） 100GHz channel spacing polarization division multiplexed-differential quadrature phase shift keying （PDM-DQPSK） optical label switching system with frequency swept coherent detected spectral amplitude code labels. Direct detection is chosen to demodulate the payload by applying a polarization tracker, while 4-bits of 156Mb/s spectral amplitude code label is coherently detected with a scheme of frequently-swept coherent detection. We optimize the payload laser linewidth as well as the frequency spacing between the payload and label. The label and payload signal performances are assessed by the eye-diagram opening factor （EOF） and bit-error rate （BER） at 10 9 as a function of the received optical power （ROP） and the optical signal to noise ratio （OSNR）. The payload could well be demodulated after 900 km at a bit error rate of 10-3 using forward error correction （FEC）.

Objective: To assess the toxic potential of Dissotis rotundifolia(***) whole plant extract in Spraque–Dawley rats within a 2-week period of ***: Methanolic extract of D. rotundifolia was administered orally once daily at dose levels of 0,100, 300 and 1 000 mg/kg body weight for 14 days. Toxicity was assessed using mortality, clinical signs, body and organ weights, hematological indices,serum chemistry parameters and histopathological ***: There were no treatment-related mortalities or differences in clinical signs,hematology and serum biochemistry. This was confirmed by micrographs obtained from histopathological ***: The results obtained from the sub-acute toxicological assessment of D. rotundifolia extract suggest that the extract is non-toxic at doses up to 1 000 mg/kg/day administered for a period of 14 days.

Two Coordination Polymers with High Selectivity for Sensing Iron(Ⅲ) Constructed from Bifunctional Ligand

A new ligand [1-{2-(2-pyridyl)-benzo[d]imidazole}-2-(5-hydroxyisophthalic acid) ethane] was used to synthesize cadmium and cobalt based florescent organic frameworks successfully under solvothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray crystallography of both complexes as well as their thermal stability and luminescence properties was investigated. Much emphasis was placed on the newly synthesized Cd-complex which shows great sensitivity for the detection of Fe^(3+) ions and could be used as a potential probe to detect the Fe^(3+) ions.

Atmospheric nucleation is a process of phase transformation, which serves a significant role in many atmospheric and technological processes. To simulate atmospheric nucleation activities, certain molecular models with three-dimensional （3-D） structures are generated. Analyzing these 3-D molecular models can help promote understanding of nucleation processes. unfortunately, the ability to understand atmospheric nucleation processes is greatly restricted due to lack of efficient visual data exploration tools. In this paper, we present a data visualization solution to visualize and classify 3-D molecular crystals. We developed a novel algorithm for calculating similarity between the 3-D molecular crystals, and further improved the overall system performance with GPu （graphics processing unit） acceleration.

Geophysical Interpretation of Possible Gold Mineralization Zones in Kyerano, South-Western Ghana using Aeromagnetic and Radiometric Datasets

Airborne magnetic and radiometric datasets are used to interpret the geology and geological structural patterns which serve as potential gold mineralization zones in the Kyerano area located at south-western boundary of the prospective Sefwi Gold Belt and the Kumasi Basin in south-western Ghana. The geophysical data processing approach adopted concentrated on mapping geological boundaries, geological structures and possible gold mineralization zones is link to hydrothermally altered zones. The application of the enhancement filtering algorithms such as the reduction to the pole and analytic signal to the magnetic data, as well as the ternary radiometric image aided in the mapping of the mafic metavolcanics, basin metasediments and the belt-type granitoid complexes. The first vertical derivative and tilt angle derivative filters helped to delineate fractures, folds, and the contact zones of the formations such as that of the metavolcanics-metasediments that host the main Bibiani Shear Zone. Lineament analysis of the structures using rose diagram, reveals two main tectonic episodes in the area. These are NE-SW and NNW-SSE trending regional structures which account for about 90% of the extracted structures and are associated with the D1 and D2 deformational episodes of the Birimian Formation respectively. These structures are major fracture systems and play a pivotal role in the localization of gold mineralization in the study area.
