Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is one of the worst deadly infections that is currently causing devastating effects and damages to humanity across the world. The global pandemic which outbroke in Wuhan in China has equally affected almost every country in the world. Over the past several months of the coronavirus crisis, cities went into lockdown, countries issued stay-at-home orders, and an increasing number of people had been practicing social distancing on a societal scale that has never been witnessed. However, nurses continue to provide care, comfort, and information to patients at all levels while risking their personal safety and well-being. This executive report provides an insight in Nigerian nurses’ perspectives and challenges in combating COVID-19 during the surge. Capturing nursing practice and nurses’ experiences during COVID-19 surge provide real-time guidance to mitigating challenges and improving well-being of nurses.

The use of mineral interfaces, in sand-sized rock fragments, to infer the influence exerted by mechanical durability on the generation of siliciclastic sediments, has been determined for plutoniclastic sand. Conversely, for volcaniclastic sand, it has received much less attention, and, to our knowledge, this is the first attempt to make use of the volcaniclastic interfacial modal mineralogy of epiclastic sandy fragments, to infer mechanical durability control at a modern beach environment. Volcaniclastic sand was collected along five beaches developed on five islands, of the southern Tyrrhenian Sea(Alicudi, Filicudi, Salina, Panarea and Stromboli) from the Aeolian Archipelago, and one sample was collected near the Stromboli Island volcanic crater. Each sample was sieved and thin sectioned for petrographic analysis. The modal mineralogy of the very coarse, coarse and medium sand fractions was determined by point-counting of the interfacial boundaries discriminating 36 types of interfaces categories, both no-isomineralic and/or no iso-structural(e.g., phenocrystal/glassy groundmass or phenocrystal/microlitic groundmass boundaries) and iso-mineralic interfaces, inside volcanic lithic grains with lathwork and porphyric textures. The levels of fluoride airborne particulates emitted from welding processes were investigated. They were sampled with the patented IOM Sampler, developed by J. H Vincent and D. Mark at the Institute of Occupational Medicine（IOM）, personal inhalable sampler for simultaneous collection of the inhalable and respirable size fractions. Ion chromatography with conductometric detection was used for quantitative analysis. The efficiency of fluoride extraction from the cellulose filter of the IOM sampler was examined using the standard sample of urban air particle matter SRM-1648 a. The best results for extraction were obtained when water and the anionic surfactant N-Cetyl-N-N-Ntrimethylammonium bromide（CTAB） were used in an ultrasonic bath. The limits of detection and quantification for the whole procedure were 8 μg/L and 24 μg/L, respectively The linear range of calibration was 0.01–10 mg/L, which corresponds to 0.0001–0.1 mg of fluorides per m3 in collection of a 20 L air sample. The concentration of fluorides in the respirable fraction of collected air samples was in the range of 0.20–1.82 mg/m3, while the inhalable fraction contained 0.23–1.96 mg/m3 of fluorides during an eight-hour working day in the welding room.

This paper investigates the provenance of Middle Jurassic to Early Cretaceous sediments in the Kutch Basin, western India, on the basis of mineralogical investigations of sandstones composition （Quartz-Feldspar-Lithic （QFL） fragment）, Zircon-Tourmaline-Rutile （ZTR） index, and mineral chemistry of heavy detrital minerals of the framework. The study also examines the compositional variation of the sandstone in relation to the evolution of the Kutch Basin, which originated as a rift basin during the Late Triassic and evolved into a passive margin basin by the end Cretaceous. This study analyzes sandstone samples of Jhumara, Jhuran and Bhuj Formations of Middle Jurassic, Upper Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous, respectively, in the Kutch Mainland. Sandstones record a compositional evolution from arkosic to subarkosic as the feldspar content decreases from 68% in the Jhumara Formation to 27% in the Bhuj Formation with intermediate values in the Jhuran Formation. The QFL modal composition indicates basement uplifted and transitional continental settings at source. Heavy mineral content of these sandstones reveals the occurrence of zircon, tourmaline, rutile, garnet, apatite, monazite and opaque minerals. Sub-rounded to well-rounded zircon grains indicate a polycyclic origin. ZTR indices for samples in Jhumara, Jhuran and Bhuj Formations are 25%, 30% and 50% respectively. Chemistry of opaque minerals reveals the occurrence of detrital varieties such as ilmenite, rutile, hematite/magnetite and pyrite, in a decreasing order of abundances. Chemistry of ilmenites in the Jhumara Formation reveals its derivation from dual felsic igneous and metabasic source, while those in Jhuran and Bhuj Formations indicate a metabasic derivation. Chemistry of garnet reveals predominantly Fe-rich （almandine） variety of metabasic origin. X-ray microscopic study provides the percentage of heavy minerals ranging from 3% to 5.260. This article takes up two models of punishment in Hegel, one that is underdeveloped in the Phenomenology of Spirit and one more fully developed in the Elements of the Philosophy of Right. Both models focus on the notions of law and the legality of personhood. I argue that beyond this, they share a common concept of singularity as an excess over and above the ethical-political order. This concept opens up to what Jean-Luc Nancy calls the “event” of freedom in Hegel. This point about excess lets me deploy Lacan and then Nancy to underscore how, for Hegel, problems concerning the question “what is law?” might be a clue as to how the bad infinite is opposed to the good or “actual” infinite. I take this up in the context of Hegel’s theory of “value,” including the value of the “good.” Altogether this analysis reveals that Hegel’s method allows for a more complex humanism than is typically understood, since his points about law and punishment lead to a more radicalized notion of intentionality and forgiveness than usually derived from the logic of recognition.

Iron(Ⅱ) phthalocyanines(FePc) supported on functionalized nanostructured carbon materials have been studied as electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) in an alkaline medium. Herein, two types of carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have been explored as support, Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes and Herringbone Carbon Nanotubes(SWCNTs and h CNTs, respectively), both electrochemically modified with ortho-aminophenylphosphonic acid(2APPA), which provides phosphate axial coordinating ligands for the immobilization of FePc molecules. All the catalysts were prepared via a facile incipient wetness impregnation method. Comprehensive experimental analysis together with density functional theory(DFT) calculations has demonstrated both the importance of the five-coordinated Fe macrocycles that favor the interaction between the FePc and the carbon support, as well as the effect of the CNT structure in the ORR. FePc axial coordination provides a better dispersion, leading to higher stability and a favorable electron redistribution that also tunes the ORR performance by lowering the stability of the reaction intermediates. Interestingly, such improvement occurs with a very low content of metal(~1 wt% Fe),which is especially remarkable when h CNT support is employed. This work provides a novel strategy for the development of Fe-containing complexes as precious metal-free catalysts towards the ORR.

Self-healing effect of ceria electrodeposited thin films on stainless steel in aggressive 0.5 mol/L NaCl aqueous solution

The self-healing effect of electrochemically deposited CeO2-Ce2O3 films on stainless steel OC404（SS） in 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution was studied. It was established that the corrosion potential of the steel, after covering it with CeO2-Ce2O3 layer and thermal treatment（i.e. potential of the system CeO2-Ce2O3/SSt.t.）, was shifted sharply to a considerably more positive value, while the corrosion current was reduced noticeably. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）, energy dispersive spectroscopy（EDS） and scanning electron microscopy（SEM） analyses on the observed scratched surface area of the system CeO2-Ce2O3/SSt.t., after exposure of investigated specimens to 0.5 mol/L NaCl corrosion media, showed partial accumulation of ceria, as well as remarkable increase in the concentrations of oxides of Al, Cr and Fe, on the mechanically revealed steel surface. On the basis of the obtained results one could conclude that the secondary passive oxide/hydroxide films, formed after a definite time interval of exposure to corrosion media, acted as barriers, hindering the corrosion processes in active zones. A hypothesis was put forward about the mechanism of self-repairing oxide layers on the steel surface and their corrosion protection effect respectively.

The product polarizations of the title reactions are investigated by employing the quasi-classical trajectory （QCT） method. The four generalized polarization-dependent differential cross-sections （PDDCSs）（2π/σ）（dσ00/dωt）, （2π/σ）（dσ20/dωt）, （2π/σ）（dσ22＋/dωt）, and （2π/σ）（dσ21-/dωt） are calculated in the centre-of-mass frame. The distribution of the angle between κ and j＇, P（θr）, the distribution of the dihedral angle denoting κ-κ＇-j＇ correlation, P（Фr）, as well as the angular distribution of product rotational vectors in the form of polar plots P（θr, Фr） are calculated. The isotope effect is also revealed and primarily attributed to the difference in mass factor between the two title reactions.

The toxic effects of gold nanoparticles surface-functionalized with the antimicrobial peptide indolicidin（Au NPs-indolicidin） towards the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, one of the major eukaryotic model organisms, have been evaluated. Growth and survival,genotoxicity, as measured by comet assay, and expression of the YCA1, an apoptosis indicating gene, following 72 hr exposure of yeast to Au NPs-indolicidin, and to Au NPs and indolicidin alone have been examined. The gold nanoparticles exerted toxicity with DNA damage, accompanied by reactive oxygen species production（ROS）, but they do not inhibit yeast growth and viability. Genotoxicity was less pronounced for surface-functionalized nanoparticles, showing that S. cerevisiae is quite resistant to the complex Au NPs-indolicidin.A progressive reduction of the genotoxic effect was observed along 72 hr exposure,presumably due to the activation of DNA repair mechanisms. These findings suggest the occurrence of a physiological protective response of S. cerevisiae towards nanoparticles,thereby providing useful information to the assessment of the environmental impact of metal nanoparticles.
