BACKGROUND Phlegmonous gastritis(PG)is a rare bacterial infectious disease characterized by neutrophil-based purulent inflammation of the gastric *** most representative causative bacterium is Streptococcus pyogenes,followed by Staphylococcus,Pneumococcus and *** portal venous gas(HPVG)is considered a potentially fatal condition and is rarely associated with *** SUMMARY The white blood cell count of a 70-year-old woman with acute lymphocytic leukemia in complete remission dropped to 100/μL after consolidation *** vital signs were consistent with septic *** blood culture revealed the presence of Bacillus *** computed tomography(CT)and esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD)showed marked thickening of the gastric *** with the other findings,CT was suggestive of HPVG,and EGD showed pseudomembrane-like tissue covering the superficial *** examination of gastric biopsy specimens showed mostly necrotic tissue with lymphocytes rather than *** of gastric specimens revealed the presence of Bacillus *** finally diagnosed this case as PG with Bacillus cereus-induced sepsis and *** patient recovered successfully with conservative treatment,chiefly by using carbapenem *** The histopathological finding of this gastric biopsy specimen should be called"neutropenic necrotizing gastritis".

Formation of diamond particles was investigated in an energy-controlled CH4/H2 radio-frequency (RF) discharge plasma. Here, in particular, it was examined how diamond particles grew on a nickel substrate under an influence of Cu vapor that was supplied from a heated Cu wire. Here, the plasma was generated by a hollow-magnetron-type (HMT) RF plasma source at the frequency of 13.56 MHz. Total pressure was kept at 100 mTorr. Diamond particles grew besides Ni and Cu particles. From Raman spectrum the substrate surface was covered with thin graphite film deposited as a background layer. It was shown that diamond could grow in a self-organized manner even when the other atomic gas species such as Ni and Cu were contained in the gas at the same time during the growth process.

持续性细胞皱缩是凋亡发生的一个主要标志。近期研究发现细胞皱缩在细胞凋亡过程中并不是一个被动的次要事件。在各种细胞中,包括人上皮细胞,凋亡因子(apoptogen)刺激后马上发生全细胞皱缩,又称为凋亡性容积减小(apoptotic volume decrease,AVD),继而发生caspase激活、DNA片段化、细胞破裂死亡。K^+和Cl^-通道的激活导致KCl外流,诱导AVD发生。抑制AVD发生可以抑制细胞凋亡。AVD与调节性容积增加(regulatory volume increase,RVI)异常相伴发生时,人上皮性HeLa细胞发生持续性细胞皱缩。RVI功能受损时,高渗本身就能诱导HeLa细胞持续性细胞皱缩,继而凋亡。即使在正常渗透压、无凋亡因子刺激的情况下,将HeLa细胞置于缺乏Na^+或Cl^-的溶液也会导致细胞持续性皱缩,继而凋亡。因此,AVD诱导和RVI异常所导致的持续性细胞皱缩是人上皮细胞发生凋亡的首要条件。

Relationship of Stress Coping Behaviors and Changes in Resilience during an Integrated Nursing Practicum

This study aims to clarify what kinds of resilience and coping strategies students employ to successfully complete their clinical practicum and provide suggestions for instruction that will allow students to carry out effective learning activities. The study subjects were 86 students enrolled at Nursing University A for the 2019 school year and planning to take the integrated nursing practicum. The survey was conducted using an anonymous, self-administered questionnaire. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to determine the amount of change in resilience factors from the surveys before and after the practicum. Subsequently, multiple regression analysis was carried out with stress coping behaviors that were significantly associated with resilience factors in univariate analysis as independent variables and the amount of change in resilience factors before and after the practicum as dependent variables. A total of 56 responses were received (response rate 65.8%) from the 85 survey subjects. Innate resilience factors increased significantly from 41 pre-practicums to 44 post-practicums. Acquired resilience factors also increased significantly from 32 pre-practicums to 35 post-practicums (p −0.456, p < 0.01) were significantly associated with innate resilience factors. Examining the relationship between the amount of change in student resilience and stress coping behaviors revealed that the stress coping behavior of “changing point of view” was associated with innate resilience. This finding suggests that resilience may be increased by changing one’s perspective on an event by taking on a new way of thinking. Green building practices benefit many users because it imposes less of a burden both on people and the environment and plays a central role in achieving a sustainable lifestyle. Covering rooftops with tall evergreen trees increases evaporation and reduces energy consumption by heating and air conditioning systems. Japan has a cereal-crop culinary culture and rice cultivation is a primary activity. According to the Biophilia Hypothesis exposure to a lush greenery environment conducive to survival facilitates more effective relaxation and recovery from fatigue than simple elimination of stress. The impact of rice paddies is not only about reduction of energy consumption, but also about mitigating the urban environment and its physiological and psychological effects on the human body. Focusing on the spread of the rice canopy and exposure of water surfaces, clarified the reaction of the human body to thermal sensory perception and outdoor thermal environments, and the correlation between them. Rice fields where the rice canopy was smaller, and where ample standing water surfaces received short wavelength solar radiation, have a high heat capacity, which works to increase the longwave length thermal radiation in the time period when the accumulated amount of short wavelength solar radiation increases. Meanwhile, where the spread of the rice canopy was greater, and the surface of the standing irrigation water covered with rice plants, a mitigation effect on the outdoor thermal environment evaluation index of ETFe (enhanced conduction-corrected modified effective temperature) through reduction of long wavelength thermal radiation came into play, and it became clear that thermal sensory perception improved through visual stimuli that engendered images of humidity. This study analyzed the difference between using a downward breaststroke kick and a horizontal breaststroke kick in a sample of world class elite *** compared average muscle activity of the gluteus maximus,quadriceps femoris(vastus medialis and rectus femoris),hamstring/long head of the biceps femoris,gastrocnemius medialis,rectus abdominal,and erector spinae when using the downward breaststroke kick *** find that when this sample of swimmers utilized the downward breaststroke kick,max speed and velocity per stroke increased,measured by 12,788 EMG samples,where the results are highly correlated to duration of the aerodynamic buoyant force in breaststroke kick *** increases in performance observed from measuring the world class elite swimmers is highly correlated to the duration of the kick aerodynamic buoyant *** this sample of elite swimmers,the longer a swimmer demonstrates a buoyant force breaststroke kick,the lower the time in a 100 breaststroke.

Estimating Emotion for Each Personality by Analyzing BVP

This research estimates emotions of university students from their BVP （blood volume pulse）. Negative emotion of university students causes school dropout, which is becoming a serious problem in Japan. It is indispensable for school staffs and counselors to know when and where students have negative emotion in the campus. Since BVP signals along with emotion changes vary with personality types, we build a model dependent on personality type, to estimate student emotion from characteristics of blood volume signals. Experimental results show that the model for each personality type improves the accuracy of emotion estimation for new students. Positive or negative emotion estimated from BVP signals contributes to enhancement of campus environment by school counselors.

Although Yarrowia lipolytica is an important host strain, there have so far been few studies on the production of glutathione by the strain. We therefore performed a study to obtain an improved strain of Y. lipolytica ATCC20688, which could produce a high yield of glutathione. First, the capability of glutathione production in the ATCC20688 strain was estimated. In comparison with other yeasts, the yield of this strain was higher than those in Pichia strains. Furthermore, this strain could produce glutathione by assimilating sodium oleate. We next performed mutation and gene cloning to improve the yield. After the yield of glutathione was improved in the isolated methylglyoxal-resistant mutant (MGR3), the glutathione synthetase gene was cloned into the MGR3 strain. By using this recombinant strain, we could reach the maximum yield and intracellular content of glutathione of 54 mg/L-medium and 30 mg/g-dry cell weight, respectively.
