Performance Evaluation of Calcium Alkali-treated Oil Palm/Pineapple Fibre/Bio-phenolic Composites

The utilisation of oil palm fibre(OPF)and pineapple leaf fibres(PALF)as reinforcement materials for bio-phenolic composites is growing especially in automotive lightweight *** major aim of this current study is to investigate the influence of alkali(Ca(OH)_(2)) treatment on pure and hybrid *** effects of enhancements in chemical interactions were evaluated by the Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FTIR).Dynamic Mechanical Analysis(DMA)and Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA)performance of untreated reinforcements(OPF and PALF)and treated(OPF/OPF)composites at varying temperature and noted sufficient interfacial bonding contributing towards the improvements in thermal *** DMA results,the storage modulus improved with treated composites while the damping factor was ***,the treated hybrid composites exhibited significant improvements in thermal stability compared to untreated fibre *** results indicated that alkali calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH2(:T)incorporation in hybrid composites(OPF/PALF)results in increased tensile strength and modulus among all ***,the alkali-treated(Ca(OH)_(2))-treated pure composite(T/50%PALF),and hybrid composites(T/1OPF.1PALF)exhibited better flexural strength as compared with other *** contrast,the T/50%PALF showed higher flexural stress of 78.2 MPa,while the flexural modulus was recorded at 6503 *** can be proposed from the findings of this study that the alkali treatment(5%Ca(OH)_(2))can be utilised to improve the strength and efficiency of agriculture biomass to be used as reinforcements in ***,the hybridisation of bio-fibre composites has the potential as a novel variety of biodegradable and sustainable composites appropriate for several industrial and engineering applications.

Graphical Transformation of OWL Ontologies to Event-B Formal Models

Formal methods use mathematical models to develop *** are formal specifications that provide reusable domain knowledge *** have been successfully used in several data-driven applications,including data ***,the creation of formal models from informal requirements demands skill and ***,inconsistency,imprecision,and incompleteness are major problems in informal *** solve these problems,it is necessary to have methods and approaches for supporting the mapping of requirements to formal *** purpose of this paper is to present an approach that addresses this challenge by using theWeb Ontology Language(OWL)to construct Event-B formal models and support data *** approach reduces the burden of working with the formal notations of OWL ontologies and Event-B models and aims to analyze domain knowledge and construct Event-B models from OWL ontologies using visual *** idea is based on the transformation of OntoGraf diagrams of OWL ontologies to UML-B diagrams for the purpose of bridging the gap between OWL ontologies and Event-B *** data exploration assists with both data analysis and the development of Event-B formal *** manage complexity,Event-B supports stepwise refinement to allow each requirement to be introduced at themost appropriate stage in the development ***-B supports refinement,so we also introduce an approach that allows us to divide and layer OntoGraf diagrams.

Populus alba is a large woody deciduous *** plant has been introduced to shooting,then multiplication of rooting on Murashige and Skoog(MS)*** work was designed to estimate the effect of two factors(low levels of 1-naphthaleneacetic acid nAA and sucrose)on *** response resulting in 6 treatments compared to the control,with twelve measured *** was a significant difference in some measurements in morphology,like plantlets fresh-weight,shoot-,root-length,and leaf *** the physiological measurements,there were significant differences in all the measured *** low concentrations of sucrose and media composition/power(MS grams/L)led to starvation in plants;however,these conditions led to enhancement in some morphological and physiological parameters to overcome the starvation effect,compared to the *** raPD-PCR molecular marker(four decamers)was used to evaluate the new individuals’genetic variation(instability),resulting in a total polymorphism percentage of 50.83%.It was formerly known that the plantlets were identical to each other and to the mother *** this study,however,the use of distinct media power,hormonal and sucrose levels resulted in molecular variation reflected in ***’s morphological and physiological responses.

Deep Learning for Image Segmentation: A Focus on Medical Imaging

Image segmentation is crucial for various research areas. Manycomputer vision applications depend on segmenting images to understandthe scene, such as autonomous driving, surveillance systems, robotics, andmedical imaging. With the recent advances in deep learning (DL) and itsconfounding results in image segmentation, more attention has been drawnto its use in medical image segmentation. This article introduces a surveyof the state-of-the-art deep convolution neural network (Cnn) models andmechanisms utilized in image segmentation. First, segmentation models arecategorized based on their model architecture and primary working ***, Cnn categories are described, and various models are discussed withineach category. Compared with other existing surveys, several applicationswith multiple architectural adaptations are discussed within each category.A comparative summary is included to give the reader insights into utilizedarchitectures in different applications and datasets. This study focuses onmedical image segmentation applications, where the most widely used architecturesare illustrated, and other promising models are suggested that haveproven their success in different domains. Finally, the present work discussescurrent limitations and solutions along with future trends in the field.

Despite a significant number of studies on the reproductive characteristics of small mammals,very little of this work has been conducted on species in ***,the Egyptian greater gerbil(Gerbillus pyramidum Saint-Hilaire,1825)and Anderson’s lesser Egyptian gerbil(Gerbillus andersoni De Winton,1902)in northeastern Egypt were *** behavior in these species was synchronized with rainfall in the winter and spring *** however,the removal of individual gerbils throughout the course of study resulted in an extension of reproductive activity into the dry summer and autumn months in the latter part of the *** results are discussed in the context of density-dependent reproductive behavior in small mammals.

Using random-parameter and fixed-parameter ordered models to explore temporal stability in factors affecting drivers' injury severity in single-vehicle collisions

Understanding the temporal stability in the factors influencing drivers' injury severity in single-vehicle collisions would help evaluating the effectiveness of implementing different safety treatments so that researchers could understand whether any safety improvements,observed after applying a certain safety treatment, are attributed to the specific treatment or simply attributed to the temporal instability of the factors being addressed. This study investigates the temporal stability of the factors affecting drivers' injury severity in singlevehicle collisions involving light-duty vehicles. The study is based on utilizing ordinal regression modeling to analyze the severity of drivers' injuries in all police-reported lightduty single-vehicle collisions that occurred in north Carolina from January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2013. A separate regression model was estimated for each year so that statistical significance of each risk factor may be compared over the years. The study also estimated random-parameter(mixed) ordered logit models to explore the heterogeneity in data. The most significant factor that was found to increase the severity of drivers' injuries in light-duty single-vehicle collisions is driving under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs. Other significant factors, in decreasing order in terms of their significance, include driving on a highway curve, exceeding speed limit, lighting conditions, the age of the driver, and the age of the vehicle. In contrast, there were six factors that were found to be significant in only some years and not in all years. These six temporally unstable factors include the use of seatbelt, driver's gender, rural highways, undivided highways, the type of the light-duty vehicle, and weather and road surface conditions. These same factors were found by other previous research studies to be significant and stable predictors of drivers' injury severity in single-vehicle collisions.

The neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE)is an important cause of neurological morbidity and mortality in *** therapy is considered a promising method for treating severe neurological disorders such as this *** cells have the capacity for self-renewal and differentiation into certain cell *** present study was aimed to find out the most beneficial route of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)administration for the attenuation of experimentally induced HIE in neonatal *** neonatal rats were divided randomly into four *** 1:control *** 2:rats were exposed to bilateral ligation of cephalic *** 3:rats were exposed to bilateral ligation of cephalic arteries and then underwent intravenous(IV)BMSC *** 4:rats were exposed to bilateral ligation of cephalic arteries and then underwent intracerebroventricular(ICV)BMSC *** animals were evaluated by(a)neurobehavioral tests;(b)histopathology,i.e.,histological and immuno-histochemical studies;and(3)gene expression *** BMSC treated groups(3 and 4)showed improvement in neurobehavioral tests,histopathological studies,and gene expression,as compared to non-injected lesioned rats(Group 2)with better improvement in Group 4(ICV injections)than in Group 3(IV injections).

Bridging the gap between research and schematic design phases in teaching architectural graduation projects

The architectural design studio course is generally considered the backbone of any architectural curriculum and follows a particular method of problem solving,which makes it a distinctive *** projects in most of the architectural programs are divided into two main phases,namely,research and project *** generate many findings from the research phase that are considered *** research problem emerges when students finish writing the research thesis,and most face difficulty in translating the collected data into actions to engage the initial idea of the ***,this study aims to high-light the transitional stage between the research and schematic design phases,which is described in this study as the"predesign bridging phase."The goal is to propose a practical strategy for bridging the gap between the research and schematic design phases to facilitate derivation of the design concept from different output variables to enable the creation of a suitable architectural morphological *** study adopts two research *** is proposing a new pedagogical framework and applying it to the architectural graduation design studio at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh,Saudi *** other is conducting a survey among students to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed framework in helping them bridge the gap between the research and schematic design *** and inferential statistics analysis methods are used to analyze the research data and study the correlation between the reflection of the new applied framework in the predesign bridging phase and the students'satisfaction toward the final projects'product and performance in the final *** study ends with a conclusion on how the applied teaching strategies facilitate the project starting point and raises the importance of proposing and testing new assessment strategies that are suitable for each phase in the graduation design studio.

The impact of an educational intervention in caregiving outcomes in Jordanian caregivers of patients receiving hemodialysis: A single group pre-and-post test

Objectives:Chronic renal failure affects the physiological,psychological,functional ability,and independent status of the patient,which might result in a burden to the family members caring for *** objective of the study was to identify caregivers'level of burden and establish the impact of educational intervention programs on caregiving ***:This was a one-group pre-test post-test study conducted between April and August 2017 on family caregivers of hemodialysis patients.A convenient sample of 169 caregivers was used.A sociodemographic questionnaire,the OBCS,and BCOS were utilized for data collection,which occurred at baseline and two weeks *** collected data were analyzed using SPSS where t-test determined the impact of the ***:Caregivers were found to be moderately burdened(M=2.73,SD=0.23)and their lives had changed for the worst as a result of caregiving(M=3.17,SD=5.89).There were significant differences in caregiving outcome scores before and after the intervention(Pnclusion:Caring for patients receiving hemodialysis adds extra responsibilities to the caregivers'schedule thus leaving them substantially *** caregivers on the required care eased their burden and improved caregiving *** are made that healthcare professionals should assess caregiver burden,and address their physical and mental health *** should also be regularly educated on the regular caregiving tasks to ease their burden.

The knowledge, attitude, practice and predictors of complementary and alternative medicine use among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Indonesia

Objective: The prevalence of complementary and alternative medicine(CAM) usage among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) in Indonesia is high. However, to date, little is known about why Indonesian T2DM patients choose CAM therapies, how their knowledge, attitude and practice(KAP) of CAM affects their choices, or how demographics correlate with patient choices. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the KAP and predictors of CAM usage in T2DM patients in ***: This was an observational, cross-sectional study. Patients were interviewed using a questionnaire. Chi-square tests or Fisher’s exact tests were used to compare demographic and clinical data, as well as KAP assessments, between T2DM patients who use and do not use CAM. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to investigate predictors of CAM ***: A total of 628 T2DM patients were enrolled in the study. CAM therapies were used by 341 patients(54.3%). The most common therapies were herbs and spiritual healing, used by 100.0% and 68.3% of CAM-using patients, respectively. CAM therapies were frequently recommended by family members(91.5%), and CAM users had significantly more knowledge and more positive attitudes toward CAM therapies than nonusers. Among users, 66% said they would not follow their healthcare providers’ instructions to not use CAM therapies, and 69.5% said they would not disclose their plan to use CAM therapies with their healthcare provider. neither demographic nor clinical characteristics were associated with CAM use. The factors that best predicted the use of CAM therapies were their availability and low cost(odds ratio [OR] = 4.59;95% confidence interval [CI]: 3.01–7.01), the belief that CAM therapies were safe(OR = 2.04;95% CI: 1.40–2.95), the belief that CAM therapies could help with diabetes control(OR = 1.75;95% CI: 1.15–2.66), and the belief that CAM therapies could help maintain physical health(OR = 1.68;95% CI: 1.13–2.49).Conclusion: CAM the
