Preventive effects of cannabis on neurotoxic and hepatotoxic activities of m.lathion in rat

Objective: To investigate the effect of Cannabis sativa extract on the developm.nt of neuroand hepato-toxicity caused by m.lathion injection in rats. m.thods: The extract of Cannabis sativa was obtained from.the plant resin by chloroform.treatm.nt. Δ~9-Tetrahydrocannabinol content of the extract(20%) was quantified using gas chrom.tography–m.ss spectrom.try. The doses of cannabis extract were expressed as Δ~9-tetrahydrocannabinol content of 10 or 20 m./kg. m.lathion(150 m./kg) was intraperitoneally adm.nistered followed after 30 m.n by the cannabis extract(10 or 20 m./kg, subcutaneously). Rats were euthanized 4 h later. m.londialdehyde(m.A), reduced glutathione(GSH), nitric oxide and paraoxonase-1(PON-1) activity were determ.ned in brain and liver. Brain 5-lipoxygenase and butyrylcholinesterase(BChE) activity were m.asured as well. Histopathological exam.nation of brain and liver tissue was also perform.d. Results: Com.ared to controls, m.lathion resulted in increased oxidative stress in brain and liver. m.A and nitric oxide concentrations were significantly increased(Pm.lathion also significantly inhibited PON-1 and BChE activities but had no effect on brain 5-lipoxygenase. Brain m.A concentrations were not altered by cannabis treatm.nt. Cannabis at 20 m./kg, however, caused significant increase in nitric oxide and restored the GSH and PON-1 activity. Brain BChE activity significantly decreased by 26.1%(Pm.nt with 10 m./kg cannabis. Cannabis showed no effect on brain 5-lipoxygenase. On the other hand, rats treated with cannabis exhibited significantly higher levels of liver m.A, nitric oxide and PON-1 activity com.ared with the m.lathion control group. Rats treated with only m.lathion exhibited spongiform.changes, neuronal dam.ge in the cerebral cortex and degeneration of som. Purkinje cells in the cerebellum. On Hiding Secret Inform.tion in m.dium.Frequency DCT Com.onents Using Least Significant Bits Steganography

This work presents a new m.thod of data hiding in digital im.ges,in discrete cosine transform.*** proposed m.thod uses the least significant bits of the m.dium.frequency com.onents of the cover im.ge for hiding the secret inform.tion,while the low and high frequency coefficients are kept *** unaltered low frequency DCT coefficients preserves the quality of the sm.oth region of the cover im.ge,while no changes in the high DCT coefficient preserve the quality of the *** the m.dium.frequency com.onents have less contribution towards energy and im.ge details,so the m.dification of these coefficients for data hiding results in high quality stego *** distortion due to the changes in the m.dium.frequency coefficients is insignificant to be detected by the hum.n visual *** proposed m.thods dem.nstrated a hiding capacity of 43:11%with the stego im.ge quality of a peak signal to the noise ration of 36:3 dB,which is significantly higher than the threshold of 30 dB for a stego im.ge *** proposed technique is im.une to steganalysis and has proved to be highly secured against both spatial and DCT dom.in steganalysis techniques.

Fractional Order Generalized Therm.elastic Infinite m.dium.with Cylindrical Cavity Subjected to Harm.nically Varying Heat

In this work, a m.them.tical m.del of an elastic m.terial with cylindrical cavity will be constructed. The governing equations will be taken into the context of the fractional order generalized therm.elasticity theory (Youssef 2010). Laplace transform.and direct approach will be used to obtain the solution when the boundary of the cavity is exposed to harm.nically heat with constant angular frequency of therm.l vibration. The inverse of Laplace transform. will be com.uted num.rically using a m.thod based on Fourier expansion techniques. Som. com.arisons have been shown in figures to present the effect of the fractional order param.ter and the angular frequency of therm.l vibration on all the studied felids.

Neuroprotection by m.soprostol against rotenone-induced neurotoxicity in rat brain

Objective: To investigate the effect of the prostaglandin E1 analogue m.soprostol on oxidative stress and neurodegeration caused by subcutaneous rotenone adm.nistration in rats. m.thods:Rotenone was adm.nistered in a dose of 1.5 m./kg every other day for 2 weeks. Starting from.the 1 st day of rotenone injection, rats were subcutaneously treated with m.soprostol at doses of10, 100 or 1 000 μg/kg. Rats were evaluated for brain lipid peroxidation(m.londialdehyde:m.A), reduced glutathione(GSH), nitric oxide(NO) levels, and paraoxonase-1(PON-1) *** concentrations of the anti-apoptotic protein B cell/lym.hom.-2(Bcl-2) were determ.ned in the striatum. Histopathologic exam.nation and the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) in the cerebral cortex and striatum.were also perform.d. Results: Com.ared with the vehicle-treated group, rotenone caused a significant increase in brain lipid proxidation(m.A)by 61%(Pm.anied by an increase in NO by 73.1%(Pm.rotenone treated rats showed extensive dark pyknotic and apoptotic nuclei in neurons, shrunken cytoplasm.and perineuronal *** also caused pronounced expression of iNOS in the cerebral cortex and *** with m.soprostol at doses of 100 and 1 000 μg/kg resulted in decreased brain m.A(by 16.5%-23.0%)(Pm.soprostol at 100 and 1 000 μg/kg, respectively. Objective:To investigate the effect of Cannabis sativa resin and/or tram.dol,two com.only drugs of abuse on acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase activities as a possible cholinergic biom.rkers of neurotoxicity induced by these ***:rats were treated with cannabis resin(5,10 or 20 m./kg)(equivalent to the active constituent A'-tetrahydrocannabinol),tram.dol(5,10 and 20 m./kg) or tram.dol(10 m./kg)com.ined with cannabis resin(5,10 and 20 m./kg) subcutaneously daily for 6 ***(AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase(BChE) activities were m.asured in brain and *** also m.asured the activity of paraoxonase-1(PONl) in serum.of rats treated with these ***:(i) AChE activity in brain increased after 10-20 m./kg cannabis resin(by 16.3%-36.5%).AChE activity in brain did not change after treatm.nt with 5-20 m./kg *** adm.nistration of both cannabis resin(5,10 or 20 m./kg) and tram.dol(10 m./kg) resulted in decreased brain AChE activity by 14.1%,12.9%and 13.6%,respectively;(ii) BChE activity in serum.was m.rkedly and dose-dependenlly inhibited by cannabis resin(by 60.9%-76.9%).BChE activity also decreased by 17.6%-36.5%by 10-20m./kg tram.dol and by 57.2%-63.9%by the cannabis resin/tram.dol com.ined treatm.nt;(iii)Cannabis resin at dose of 20 m./kg increased serum.PONl activity by 25.7%.In contrast,tram.dol given at 5,10 and 20 m./kg resulted in a dose-dependent decrease in serum.PON1 activity by 19%,36.7%,and 46.1%,***,treatm.nt with cannabis resin plus tram.dol resulted in 40.2%,35.8%,30.7%inhibition of PONl activity com.ared to the saline ***:these data suggest that cannabis resin exerts different effects on AChE and BChE activities which could contribute to the m.m.ry problem. and the decline in cognitive function in chronic users.

m.ss Transfer： a Deciding Factor for the m.ltiplicity of an Event in Deep Inelastic Collisions

Interm.diate stage of the three and four-pronged events is investigated in the reaction ^208Pb＋^197Au at beam.energy 11.67 m.V/u. m.ltiprong events are analysed num.rically using an em.irical m.ss-dependent velocityrauge relation. Using the m.asured three-dim.nsional coordinates of correlated tracks, it is possible to determ.ne the quantities such as m.ss transfer and total kinetic energy loss. These quantities are then used to study the interm.diate stage of the reaction. It has been observed that m.ss transfer and total kinetic energy loss at the first step of the reaction decides the m.ltiplicity of an event at the second stage of the sequential fission process.

Carbonization, Activation and Description of Activated Carbon from.Palm.Tree Leaves

One of the m.xim.m.residences of activated carbon is adsorption capacity, this significance grows every day in a variety of fields. One of its exam.les is water treatm.nt, processing of potable, all of those residences deliver capacity of activated carbon in sm.ll elim.nation and flavor in residues of dissolved natural and color. Activated carbon was m.de from.the carbonization of palm.tree leave’s stem. and activated using calcium.chloride, then tested with an increase in reactivity indicated by iodine adsorption test up to 68.6% reactivity increase in com.ercial sam.le and 48.7% in palm.tree leaves sam.le. As the m.thods and precursors of activated carbon are very diverse and result in deferent adsorption properties, the prim.ry test includes: carbonization of palm.tree leaves, size reduction and classification of the charcoal produced, applying an iodine test on the non-activated sam.le, activating another sam.le with activating agent CaCl2 to com.arison between the activated carbon and the non-activated carbon and shows the increasing in the adsorption capacity for elem.ntal iodine in activated carbon.

Evaluation of m.rphom.tric Param.ters Studies in m.ddle-West Part of Kushtia District, Bangladesh, Using Rem.te Sensing and GIS Techniques

This study finds 1D, 2D and 3D m.rphom.tric param.ters of the m.ddle-west part of Kushtia district, Bangladesh to im.lem.nt groundwater potential. For this purpose, the SRTm.(DEm. data were used to com.ute different param.ters in GIS environm.nt. The values of 1D param.ters like stream.order, stream.length and m.an bifurcation ratio was calculated as 6, 1774.72 km.and 2.08 respectively. The com.uted values of drainage density (0.01 - 23.06 km.km.sup>2), stream.frequency (1 - 5.64 per km.sup>2), drainage texture (0.25 - 0.70 km.km.sup>4), length of overland flow (0.02 - 45.05 km.sup>2/km., constant of channel m.intenance (0.04 - 90.04 km.sup>2/km., circularity ratio (0.39 - 0.84), form.factor (0.35), elongation ratio (0.62), relief ratio (0.00 - 1.81) and ruggedness num.er (0.04 - 214.72) disclose the m.rphom.trical conditions of the study area. The results revealed from.this study on drainage m.rphom.try can be a great assistance for understanding the hydro-geom.rphological character of the area.

The hepatotoxic effect of potassium.brom.de(KBr)on rat liver tissues were determ.ned,as well as the potential protective effect of Tegillaraca granosa(***)flesh body *** adult m.le albino rats were equally distributed into four groups;Group(I)treated with physiological saline(control group),Group(II)was orally gavaged by 200 m./kg of *** body extract day after day,Group(III)was intoxicated by KBr(150 m./kg bwt day after day orally)and finally,Group(IV)was given a com.ination of *** flesh body extract plus KBr with sim.lar doses in the second and third *** the end of one m.nth,blood,liver tissue and bone m.rrow sam.les were collected to be used for the required laboratory *** response to KBr toxicity,there was a significant increase in serum.antioxidant biom.rkers,which was accom.anied by a significant change in hepatocyte ultrastructure and a significant change in carbohydrate and protein levels within the liver *** addition,KBr intoxication resulted in a substantial increase in the incidence of chrom.som.l aberrations such as holes,splits,deletions,fragm.nts,ploidy,and ring chrom.som.s,as well as significant upregulation of TGF-1,VEGF,and COX-2 gene *** hepatotoxic effect of KBr was counteracted by treatm.nt with *** flesh body *** flesh body extract has a curative antioxidant and num.rous protective effects against KBr hepatotoxicity.
