The construction and performance characteristics of new sensitive and selective in situ modified screen printed （ISPE） and carbon paste （ICPE） electrodes for determination of naphazoline hydrochloride （NPz-HC1） have been developed. The electrodes under investigation show potentiometric response for NPz-HC1 in the concentration range from 7.0 x 10-7 to 1.0 x 10-2 M at 25 ~C and the electrode response is independent of pH in the range of 3.1-7.9. These sensors have slope values of 59.7＋0.6 and 59.2＋0.2 mV decade-l with detection limit values of 5.6 ~ 10-7 and 5.9 x 10-7 M NPz- HC1 using ISPE and ICPE, respectively. These electrodes show fast response time of 4-7 s and 5-8 s and exhibits lifetimes of 28 and 30 days for ISPE and ICPE, respectively. Selectivity for NPz-HC1 with respect to a number of interfering materials was also investigated. It was found that there is no interference from the investigated inorganic cations, anions, sugars and other pharmaceutical excipients. The proposed sensors were applied for the determination of NPz-HC1 in pharmaceutical formulation using the direct potentiometric method. It showed a mean average recovery of 100.2% and 102.6% for ISPE and ICPE, respectively. The obtained results using the proposed sensors were in good agreement with those obtained using the official method. The proposed sensors show significantly high selectivity, response time, accuracy, precision, limit of detection （LOD）and limit of quantification （LOQ） compared with other proposed methods.

This paper explores the convergence of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 with the increasing dependence on the Internet for educational purposes. It sheds light on the potential cybersecurity risks and how parental perception impacts children’s willingness to adapt cybersecurity features. By instilling the significance of cybersecurity awareness in early stages, society can provide children with the necessary skills to navigate the digital realm responsibly. As we progress, ongoing research and collaborative endeavors will be pivotal in formulating effective strategies to shield the digital generation from the potential pitfalls of the virtual realm. Regular Internet usage is essential for various purposes such as communication, education, and leisure. The cohorts of Generation z and Alpha were born during a period of exponential Internet growth, leading them to heavily engage with the Internet. Consequently, they are equally vulnerable to cybersecurity threats just like adults. Addressing potential security risks for today’s youth becomes the responsibility of parents as the primary line of defense. This research focuses on raising awareness about the imperative of ensuring children’s safety in the online sphere, particularly by their parents. The study is conducted within the specific context of Saudi Arabia, aiming to examine how Saudi parents’ perception of cybersecurity influences their children’s cyber safety. The study identifies critical factors, including attitudes towards cybersecurity, awareness of cybersecurity, and prevailing social norms regarding cybersecurity. These factors contribute to the development of parents’ intention to prioritize cybersecurity, which consequently affects their children’s behaviors in the digital realm. Utilizing a quantitative approach based on a questionnaire, the study employs a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) framework to analyze the collected data. Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common autoimmune disease in which a combination of risk alleles from different susceptibility genes predisposes the patients to develop clinical symptoms following exposure to environmental factors. RA is a chronic and progressive disease characterized by synovial inflammation that results in destruction in the affected joints and severe problems in individual’s mobility. Several immune-related risk factors have been associated with RA, these include single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in cytokine genes. The impact of these cytokine gene polymorphisms is due to their association either with elevated serum levels and/or variations in their serum levels are associated with disease-onset and progression. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of Interleukin-6 (IL6), Interleukin-13 (IL13) and Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) gene polymorphisms in genetic susceptibility of RA in Kuwaiti patients. Methods: We have determined the genotypes of IL6 gene (-174G/C;rs1800795), IL13 gene (R130Q;rs20541) and TNF-alpha gene (-308A/G' rs1800629) polymorphisms in 192 Kuwaiti patients with RA and compared it to that in 104 healthy controls. The diagnosis of RA was based on the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) classification criteria. The genotypes for IL6, IL13 and TNF-alpha gene polymorphisms were determined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) methods and confirmed by DNA sequencing. Results: The frequency of IL6 gene (-174G/C;rs1800795) and TNF-alpha gene (-308A/G' rs1800629) polymorphisms manifested a statistically significant difference between Kuwaiti RA patients and controls (P = 0.02 and 0.002 respectively). In contrast, the frequency of IL13 gene (R130Q;rs20541) polymorphism did not show a significant difference between Kuwaiti RA patients and controls. A sensitive, accurate and robust Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry method has been developed and validated to measure voriconazole trough levels in human plasma. The plasma samples were mixed with fluconazole as an Internal Standard and directed to protein precipitation and drug extraction. An aliquot of 1 μl was injected into the chromatographic system and separated by the Acquity BEH C18 column at a flow rate of 0.30 ml/min in a gradient mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile, Ultrapure water (UPW), methanol and formic acid. Voriconazole was detected by a Triple Quadrupole Detector (TQD) operating on Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) and a positive ion mode Electrospray ionization (ESI) Q1 mass: 350.1 m/z, Q3 mass: 281.1 m/z. Method linearity of the calibration curve (0.10 - 8.00 μg/ml) indicated a correlation coefficient r ≥ 0.99. The intra and inter-assay accuracy was within 85% - 115% and the intra and inter-assay precision was ≤5.76%. Voriconazole recovery percentage was between 97.69 - 119.62%. The method was successively applied in routine voriconazole TDM.

In this study LTA zeolite was prepared from kaolin. The effect of ultrasonic irradiation on the crystal structure and ability to ion exchange of some heavy metals were studied. Many techniques were used to characterize the prepared zeolite includes X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) with crystal lattice analysis, Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and finally ion exchange isotherm of some heavy metal ions. The results showed that the ultrasonicated zeolite exhibits different behavior towards ion exchange with increasing its capacity. The ultrasonicated zeolite showed little increase in the lattice parameters with increasing in the crystal size. Fitting adsorption isotherms on the metal adsorbed showed an observable change in the behavior of ultrasonicated zeolite towards the metals exchanged.

Necrotrophic pathogenic bacteria, fungi and oomycetes are widely distributed and are responsible for significant crop losses. Host plants deploy different defense mechanisms and appropriate immune responses to defend them against these pathogens. Regardless of the pathogen’s lifestyle, infection activates plant immune responses either through Pathogen/Microbe Associated Molecular Pattern (P/MAMP) or through Effector Triggered Immunity (ETI). However, as R-genes are not usually associated with resistance to necrotrophs, resistance is largely dependent on the balanced interplay between crucial phytohormones in complex signaling pathways involving jasmonic acid (JA), ethylene, salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA). An increase in salicylic acid levels enhances susceptibility to necrotrophic pathogens but promotes resistance to hemibiotrophs, whereas a deficiency in SA or SA signaling has either no significant impact or affects resistance only at the primary infection site. The same fashion is observed for JA signaling system that appears to elicit resistance against diseases caused by necrotrophic pathogens and can trigger systemic immunity conferring resistance against them. On the other hand, ABA can play a positive or negative role in plant defense responses to necrotrophs as ABA-mediated defense responses are dependent on specific plant-pathogen interactions. Understanding plant immune response against necrotrophic pathogens may lead to the development of resistant or tolerant crop cultivars.

Role of Urokinase-Type Plasminogen Activator Receptors as an Early Detector for Treatment Outcome in Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Egyptian Patients

Background: The urokinase-type plasminogen activator system which consists of a proteinase (the urokinase-type plasminogen activator, uPA), a receptor (the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor uPAR or CD87) and inhibitors (PAI1) is enriched in several types of tumors and involved in proteolysis, cell migration and invasion. High expression of uPA and uPAR is associated with an increased relapse rate and shorter survival in breast cancer and colorectal carcinomas. Aims: This study shed light on the expression of uPAR in adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and its prognostic relevance. Methods: Peripheral blood and bone marrow samples are obtained from 54 newly diagnosed AML adult patients, 20 healthy controls stained with anti CD87 and estimated on flow cytometry. Results: CD87 expression was heterogeneous in different FAB subtypes of AML with high expression in monocytic leukemia (M4/M5) (P value 0.001). High expression of CD87 was associated with shorter survival and poor response to therapy (P = 0.028, 0.002 respectively). The most discriminating cut off value of CD87 expression was 20%, patients with less than 20% expression had 4.6 times better treatment outcome than those with more than or equal to 20%. On the multivariate analysis, CD87 was the most significant single variable that affect treatment outcome compared to total leucocytic count, hemoglobin level, platelets count, cytogenetic and FLT expression. Summary/Conclusion: High CD87 expression is an independent prognostic parameter associated with poor response and shorter overall survival in adult AML patients.

Cephalometric norms for a sample of Emirates adults

Introduction—European-American norms are still used in the orthodontic treatment of Emirates patients despite the different ethnic backgrounds of the Emirates. The purpose of this study was to formulate cephalometric norms for lateral cephalometric mea-surements of Emirates adults and to study gender differences. Methods—Lateral cephalometric radio-graphs of 176 Emirates adults, 91 males and 85 fe-males, were selected according to the following crite-ria;an age range between 19 to 25 years, esthetically pleasing and harmonious faces with balanced and acceptable profiles and occlusions, normal skeletal and dental relationship, all permanent teeth present, and no history of orthodontic treatment or facial trauma. The mean values and standard deviations of 91 angular and 21 linear cephalometric variables were calculated using the Dolphin version 10.5 soft-ware package. The resulting norms for Emirates male and female groups were compared using a student t-test. Results—Several statistically significant gender differences were noticeable. Skeletally, Emirates males showed significantly greater (p y greater (p y greater (p y, Emirates males had significantly greater (p y, z-angle, and both upper and lower lips pro-trusion which were significantly greater in Emirates females.
