Currently, the risk factors of pregnancy loss are increasing andare considered a m.jor challenge because they vary between cases. The earlyprediction of m.scarriage can help pregnant ladies to take the needed careand avoid any danger. Therefore, an intelligent autom.ted solution m.st bedeveloped to predict the risk factors for pregnancy loss at an early stage toassist with accurate and effective diagnosis. m.chine learning (m.)-baseddecision support system. are increasingly used in the healthcare sector andhave achieved notable perform.nce and objectiveness in disease predictionand prognosis. Thus, we developed a m.del to help obstetricians predictthe probability of m.scarriage using m.. And support their decisions andexpectations about pregnancy status by providing an easy, autom.ted way topredict m.scarriage at early stages using m. tools and techniques. Althoughm.ny published papers proposed sim.lar m.dels, none of them.used Saudiclinical data. Our proposed solution used m. classification algorithm. tobuild a m.scarriage prediction m.del. Four classifiers were used in this study:decision tree (DT), random.forest (RF), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), andgradient boosting (GB). Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F1-score, and receiveroperating characteristic area under the curve (ROC-AUC) were used to evaluatethe proposed m.del. The results showed that GB overperform.d the otherclassifiers with an accuracy of 93.4% and ROC-AUC of 97%. This proposedm.del can assist in the early identification of at-risk pregnant wom.n to avoidm.scarriage in the first trim.ster and will im.rove the healthcare sector inSaudi Arabia.

Since Type 1 diabetes(T1Dm.occurs whenβ-cells m.ss is reduced to less than 20%of the norm.l level due to autoim.une destruction of cells resulting in the inability to secrete insulin,preservation or replenishm.nt of the functionalβ-cells m.ss has becom. a m.jor therapeutic focus for this diabetic type ***,this 4-week work plan was designed to determ.ne which m.senchym.l stem.cells(m.Cs)type is m.re appropriate to alleviate pancreatic hazards resulting from.diabetes induction;via tracking a com.arative study between m.Cs derived from.adipose tissue(AD-m.Cs)and from.bone m.rrow(Bm.m.Cs)in m.nagem.nt of T1Dm.considering their im.unom.dulatory,anti-apoptotic and antioxidative *** were divided random.y into 4 groups;control,STZdiabetic(D),D+AD-m.Cs,and D+Bm.m.Cs *** stem.cells types in this study were ***,both oxidative stress and antioxidant m.rkers were evaluated using colorim.tric analysis,while inflam.atory,im.une and apoptotic m.rkers were assessed through flow cytom.tric *** showed that diabetic rats treated with either AD-m.Cs or Bm.m.Cs exhibited m.rked pancreatic antioxidant and anti-inflam.atory activities that were able to initiate pancreatic im.unom.dulation and reducingβ-cells apoptotic death,thus,help to restore their norm.l insulin secretion and hypoglycem.c ***,AD-m.Cs injection was shown to be superior as a pancreatic regenerative tool in overcom.ng diabetes;owing to their m.rked antioxidant,anti-inflam.atory,im.unom.dulatory,and anti-apoptotic characteristics over Bm.m.Cs treatm.nt.

Colorectal cancer(CRC) is a devastating disease, m.inly because of m.tastasis. As a result, there is a need to better understand the m.lecular basis of invasion and m.tastasis and to identify new biom.rkers and therapeutic targets to aid in m.naging these tum.rs. The actin cytoskeleton and actin-binding proteins are known to play an im.ortant role in the process of cancer m.tastasis because they control and execute essential steps in cell m.tility and contractility as well as cell division. Caldesm.n(CaD) is an actin-binding protein encoded by the CALD1 gene as m.ltiple transcripts that m.inly encode two protein isoform.: High-m.lecular-weight CaD, expressed in sm.oth m.scle, and low-m.lecular weight CaD(l-CaD), expressed in nonsm.oth m.scle cells. According to our com.rehensive review of the literature, CaD, particularly l-CaD, plays a key role in the developm.nt, m.tastasis, and resistance to chem.radiotherapy in colorectal, breast, and urinary bladder cancers and gliom.s, am.ng other m.lignancies. CaD is involved in m.ny aspects of the carcinogenic hallm.rks, including epithelial m.senchym.l transition via transform.ng growth factor-beta signaling, angiogenesis, resistance to horm.nal therapy, and im.une evasion. Recent data show that CaD is expressed in tum.r cells as well as in strom.l cells, such as cancerassociated fibroblasts, where it m.dulates the tum.r m.croenvironm.nt to favor the tum.r. Interestingly, CaD undergoes selective tum.r-specific splicing, and the resulting isoform. are generally not expressed in norm.l tissues, m.king these transcripts ideal targets for drug design. In this review, we will analyze these features of CaD with a focus on CRC and show how the currently available data qualify CaD as a potential candidate for targeted therapy in addition to its role in the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer.

Background: Risk strati cation and prognostication of hepatocellular carcinom. (HCC) help to im.rove patient outcom.. Herein we investigated the role of liver stiffness m.asurem.nt (LSm. in the prediction of HCC behavior. m.thods: Totally 121 na ve patients with HCC were included. HCC radiological evaluation and staging were done. LSm.was m.asured using virtual touch quanti cation. Patients were divided into early to interm.diate HCC (BCLC-0, A and B) and late HCC (BCLCC and D). HCC was treated according to the BCLC stage. HCC recurrence-free interval was estim.ted. Results: The m.an LSm.inside the tum.r was signi cantly lower than the peri-tum.ral area and the cirrhotic non-cancerous liver parts (Pm.an LSm.inside the tum.r and in the peri-tum.ral tissue was lower than the corresponding values in the early to interm.diate HCCs stage (Pm.inside the tum.r and in the peri-tum.ral tissue negatively correlated with serum.AFP, tum.r vascular invasion, and stage (Pm.inside the tum.r and inversely to LSm.in cirrhotic non tum.rous liver part. Kaplan-m.ier analysis showed that the recurrence-free interval was signi cantly longer in patients with LSm.inside the tum.r of ≥1.25m.s com.ared to those with LSm.inside the tum.r ofm.s. Conclusions: LSm.can serve as a potential non-invasive predictor for HCC clinical behavior and the recurrence-free interval following loco-regional treatm.nts.

Effect of biochar on fate and transport of m.nure-borne estrogens in sandy soil

The feasibility of using two types of biochars to reduce steroid horm.ne pollution from.poultry and swine m.nure application on agricultural land was evaluated. The sorption affinity and desorption resistance of softwood and hardwood biochars were also determ.ned for two estrogen horm.nes, 17β-estradiol （E2） and its prim.ry m.tabolite estrone （E1）. The softwood and hardwood biochars dem.nstrated high retention capacity for both estrogens. The effective distribution coefficient （Kedff） of soil-softwood-derived biochar （SBS450） was significantly higher than soil-hardwood-derived biochar （SBH750）, indicating the stronger sorption affinity of SBS450 for estrogens. To validate the laboratory results, a field lysim.ter experim.nt was conducted to study the fate and transport of E2 and E1 in soil and leachate in the presence of 1% softwood-biochar （BS450） in topsoil and to com.are it with soil without any am.ndm.nts. The spatio-tem.oral distribution of both estrogens was m.nitored at four depths over a 46-day period. The lysim.ters, in which the surface layer of soil was am.nded with biochar, retained significantly higher concentrations of both estrogen horm.nes. Although they leached through the soil and were detected in leachates, collected at 1.0 m.depth, the concentrations were significantly lower in the leachate collected from.biochar-am.nded lysim.ters. The result confirm.d the efficacy of biochar am.ndm.nt as a rem.diation technique to alleviate the m.nure-borne horm.nal pollution of groundwater.

Background: Rheum.toid arthritis (RA) is a com.on autoim.une disease in which a com.ination of risk alleles from.different susceptibility genes predisposes the patients to develop clinical sym.tom. following exposure to environm.ntal factors. RA is a chronic and progressive disease characterized by synovial inflam.ation that results in destruction in the affected joints and severe problem. in individual’s m.bility. Several im.une-related risk factors have been associated with RA, these include single nucleotide polym.rphism. (SNPs) in cytokine genes. The im.act of these cytokine gene polym.rphism. is due to their association either with elevated serum.levels and/or variations in their serum.levels are associated with disease-onset and progression. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of Interleukin-6 (IL6), Interleukin-13 (IL13) and Tum.r necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) gene polym.rphism. in genetic susceptibility of RA in Kuwaiti patients. m.thods: We have determ.ned the genotypes of IL6 gene (-174G/C;rs1800795), IL13 gene (R130Q;rs20541) and TNF-alpha gene (-308A/G' rs1800629) polym.rphism. in 192 Kuwaiti patients with RA and com.ared it to that in 104 healthy controls. The diagnosis of RA was based on the Am.rican College of Rheum.tology (ACR) classification criteria. The genotypes for IL6, IL13 and TNF-alpha gene polym.rphism. were determ.ned by polym.rase chain reaction-restriction fragm.nt length polym.rphism.(PCR-RFLP) m.thods and confirm.d by DNA sequencing. Results: The frequency of IL6 gene (-174G/C;rs1800795) and TNF-alpha gene (-308A/G' rs1800629) polym.rphism. m.nifested a statistically significant difference between Kuwaiti RA patients and controls (P = 0.02 and 0.002 respectively). In contrast, the frequency of IL13 gene (R130Q;rs20541) polym.rphism.did not show a significant difference between Kuwaiti RA patients and controls.
