Sa.in.ty of soils or wa.er poses a. in.rea.in. threa. to food production.due to clima.e cha.ge. Pla.t breedin. progra.s were a.plied to improve sa.t tolera.ce in.n.w whea. gen.types to overcome this problem. The a.m of this resea.ch work is to estima.e the rea.ized improvemen. in.sa.t tolera.ce of the selected gen.types through pla.t breedin. progra.s. The compa.ison.experimen.s were con.ucted in.sa.in.zed soils a. two loca.ion. for two yea.s a. compa.ed with two loca. cultiva.s. a.l the selected gen.types derived from F2 popula.ion. a.ter six cycles of exposure to high sa.in.ty level were tested for sa.t tolera.ce durin. a.l growth sta.e. a. ha.vest sta.e, seed yield a.d its compon.n.s were studied for the compa.ison. Results showed tha. there were sign.fica.t differen.es between.a.l selected gen.types a.d loca. eultiva.s in.their overa.l sen.itivities to soil sa.in.ty. a.l selected gen.types were superior in.seed yield a.d its compon.n.s a. ma.urity to those of the loca. cultiva.s a. the two loca.ion.a.d yea.s. Clea.ly, a.l the selected gen.types exhibited more tha. twice seed yield/m2 compa.ed with tha. obta.n.d from loca. cultiva.s. The results a.so in.ica.ed tha. there were differen.es a.on. selected gen.types in.their respon.es to soil sa.in.ty between.loca.ion. a.d yea.s, but n.t sign.fica.t. Importa.t thin. is sign.fica.t improvemen. in.selected gen.types wa. a.hieved in.their sa.t tolera.ce through six cycles of screen.n. a.d selection.to high sa.in.ty level. Most of wa.er trea.men.s require higher expen.iture. Chemica. coa.ula.t requires higher cost a.d ha. some dra.ba.k a.ter trea.men. such a. pH cha.ges. Morin.a.oleifera.ca.e residue (MOCR) is on. of the a.tern.0}ives to repla.e chemica. coa.ula.t. a.ja. test a.pa.a.us wa. used to mon.tor wa.er trea.men.. Wa.er qua.ity of Geben. River (GR) a.d wa.te wa.er (WW) wa. exa.in.d before a.d a.ter trea.men.. Differen. pa.a.eters usin. (MOCR) wa. in.estiga.ed. Prelimin.0}y la.ora.ory results showed the grea. poten.ia. of the (MOCR) to be used in.wa.er trea.men.. MOCR shows a. excellen. reduction.in.turbidity (97 % wa. removed). The ba.teria.were reduced from 1.7 × 105 to 8 × 103 CFU/ml. Dissolved oxygen.(DO) wa. improved tha. eleva.ed from 1.06 ± 0.04 to 5.09 ± 0.03 mg/L. However, chemica. oxygen.demand (COD) a.d biologica. oxygen.demand (BOD) were in.rea.ed from 520.5 ± 0.71 to 865.0 ± 2.12 mg/L a.d from 120.5 ± 2.12 to 270.5 ± 2.12 mg/L respectively. n.vertheless, there is n. sign.fica.t a.tera.ion.of pH, con.uctivity, sa.in.ty a.d tota. dissolved solid (TDS) a.ter trea.men.. The iron.(Fe) wa. fully removed while copper (Cu) a.d ca.mium (Cd) were successfully removed up to 98%. The reduction.of lea. (Pb) a.so a.hieved 82.17%. a.so, (MOCR) ca. be stored for lon. time up to 6 mon.hs without a.fectin. the biologica. properties of MO.
