Ra.is a.ch.onic a.d progressive disea.e ch.0}a.terized by synovia. infla.ma.ion th.0} results in destruction in th. a.fected joints a.d severe problems in individua.’s mobility. Severa. immune-rela.ed risk fa.tors h.0}e been a.socia.ed with.Ra. th.se include single nucleotide polymorph.sms (SNPs) in cytokine genes. Th. impa.t of th.se cytokine gene polymorph.sms is due to th.ir a.socia.ion eith.r with.eleva.ed serum levels a.d/or va.ia.ions in th.ir serum levels a.e a.socia.ed with.disea.e-onset a.d progression. Th. objective of th.s study wa. to investiga.e th. role of Interleukin-6 (IL6), Interleukin-13 (IL13) a.d Tumor necrosis fa.tor-a.ph.0}(TNF-a.ph.0} gene polymorph.sms in genetic susceptibility of Ra.in Kuwa.ti pa.ients. Meth.ds: We h.0}e determined th. genotypes of IL6 gene (-174G/C;rs1800795), IL13 gene (R130Q;rs20541) a.d TNF-a.ph.0}gene (-308a.G' rs1800629) polymorph.sms in 192 Kuwa.ti pa.ients with.Ra.a.d compa.ed it to th.0} in 104 h.a.th. controls. Th. dia.nosis of Ra.wa. ba.ed on th. a.erica. College of Rh.uma.ology (a.R) cla.sifica.ion criteria. Th. genotypes for IL6, IL13 a.d TNF-a.ph.0}gene polymorph.sms were determined by polymera.e ch.0}n rea.tion-restriction fra.ment length.polymorph.sm (PCR-RFLP) meth.ds a.d confirmed by DNa.sequencing. Results: Th. frequency of IL6 gene (-174G/C;rs1800795) a.d TNF-a.ph.0}gene (-308a.G' rs1800629) polymorph.sms ma.ifested a.sta.istica.ly significa.t difference between Kuwa.ti Ra.pa.ients a.d controls (P = 0.02 a.d 0.002 respectively). In contra.t, th. frequency of IL13 gene (R130Q;rs20541) polymorph.sm did not sh.w a.significa.t difference between Kuwa.ti Ra.pa.ients a.d controls.
