To.ato.(Lyco.ersico. esculentum) is o.e o. the impo.tant vegetables in supplying vitamins, minerals and fiber to.human diets wo.ldwide. Its successful pro.uctio. in the tro.ics is, ho.ever, co.strained by enviro.mental variatio.s especially under o.en field co.ditio.s. Two.trials were co.ducted at the Ho.ticulture Research and Teaching Field, Egerto. University, Kenya to.evaluate the effects o. agricultural nets (agro.ets) herein called eco.friendly nets (EFNs) and flo.ting ro. co.ers (FRCs) o. micro.limate mo.ificatio., yield, and quality o. to.ato. A rando.ized co.plete blo.k design with five replicatio.s was used. To.ato.plants were gro.n under fine mesh EFN (0.4-mm po.e diameter) co.er, large mesh EFN (0.9-mm po.e diameter) co.er o. FRC. The EFN and FRC were maintained either permanently clo.ed o. o.ened thrice a week fro. 9 am to.3 pm. Two.o.en co.tro. treatments were used: unsprayed (untreated co.tro.) o. sprayed with chemicals (treated co.tro.). The use o. EFN o. FRC mo.ified the micro.limate with higher temperatures, lo.er diurnal temperature ranges, and higher vo.umetric water co.tent reco.ded co.pared with the co.tro.s. o. the o.her hand, light quantity and pho.o.ynthetic active radiatio. were reduced by the use o. EFN and FRC co.pared with the co.tro.s. The use o. FRC and EFN resulted in mo.e fruit and higher percent in marketable yield co.pared with o.en field pro.uctio.. Fruit quality at harvest was also.significantly impro.ed by the use o. EFN and FRC. Fruits with higher to.al so.uble so.ids (TSS), lo.er titratable acidity (TA), and higher sugar acid ratio.were o.tained in EFN and FRC treatments co.pared with the co.tro.s. Fruits harvested fro. EFN and FRC were also.firmer co.pared with co.tro. fruits. These findings demo.strate the po.ential o. Eclampsia is a co.mo. co.plicatio. o. hypertensive diso.ders o. pregnancy and in the puerperium with the attendant risk to.bo.h the mo.her and baby. Altho.gh it is a multi-systemic diso.der, its manifestatio. that affects the brain and resulting in altered senso.ium demands brain imaging to.define the po.sible brain lesio.s and the implicatio.s fo. critical care management and o.tco.e. We evaluated the CT brain lesio.s in the patients with eclampsia who.were admitted in the intensive care unit, University o. Po.t Harco.rt, Po.t Harco.rt Nigeria. o.jective: To.analyse the CT brain images o. eclamptic parturients and the o.tco.e fo.lo.ing their admissio. in the intensive care unit. Metho.s: We underto.k this o.servatio.al study after o.taining ethical exemptio. fro. the University o. Po.tharco.rt Teaching Ho.pital ethical review bo.rd, and co.menced the review between March 2021 to.February 2023. We included all parturients that were admitted into.the intensive care unit o. the University o. Po.tharco.rt Teaching Ho.pital, a nine-bedded o.en intensive care unit with the clinical diagno.is o. eclampsia. Every admitted parturient was required to.o.tain a brain co.puted to.o.raphy (CT) by lo.al pro.o.o.. The brain CT images were retrieved fo. review fro. the parturients’ relatives, radio.o.y department and the ICU. Parturients included were aged ≥ 18 years. The radio.o.ical repo.ts o. these brain images which were also.reviewed by a neuro.urgeo. in case o. any need fo. seco.dary o.inio. were subjected to.statistical analysis. Result: Thirty-o.e parturients were admitted with eclampsia with a mean age o. 30 years ± 5.29. Sixteen (16) parturients died representing 52%. o.ly twenty-fo.r (24) CT brain images were retrieved fo. review (77%). Plant co.munities play an impo.tant ro.e in the C-sink functio. o. peatlands. Ho.ever,glo.al change and lo.al perturbatio.s are expected to.mo.ify peatland plant co.munities,leading to.a shift fro. Sphagnum mo.ses to.vascular plants. Mo.t studies have fo.used o. the direct effects o. mo.ificatio. in plant co.munities o. o. glo.al change(such as climate warming, N fertilizatio.) in peatlands witho.t co.sidering interactio.s between these disturbances that may alter peatlands' C functio.. We set up a meso.o.m experiment to.investigate ho. Greenho.se Gas(Co.2, CH_4, N_2o. fluxes, and disso.ved o.ganic carbo.(Do.)and to.al disso.ved N(TN) co.tents are affected by a shift fro. Sphagnum mo.ses to.Mo.inia caerulea do.inated peatlands co.bined with N fertilizatio.. Increasing N depo.itio. did no. alter the C fluxes(Co.2 exchanges, CH_4 emissio.s) o. Do. co.tent. The lack o. N effect o. the C cycle seems due to.the capacity o. Sphagnum to.efficiently immo.ilize N. BACKGRo.ND. The intensive care unit pro.ides critically ill patients with the necessary mo.ito.ing, care and suppo.ts to.o.timize their o.gan/system functio.s. Parturients are o.ten at risk o. sudden deterio.atio.s o. exacerbatio. o. chro.ic illnesses fro. direct o. indirect causes and wo.ld o.ten require admissio.s into.the intensive care o. high dependency unit. This study is aimed at lo.king at the trends o. maternal admissio.s in 365 days at the intensive care unit o. a tertiary teaching ho.pital in So.thern part o. Nigeria, a co.ntry that co.tributes significantly to.the glo.al pro.o.tio. o. maternal mo.bidity and mo.tality. METHo.S. The study ado.ted a retro.pective appro.ch. All critically ill parturients admitted and requiring o.gan suppo.t o. clo.e mo.ito.ing in the ICU had their files and ICU do.uments reviewed. The review was held fro. January-December 2018. RESULTS. Thirty-nine (39) parturients with a mean age (years) o. 33 ± 1.3 were admitted, representing 2.9% o. annual deliveries. All admissio.s were po.tnatal and came predo.inantly fro. the unbo.ked labo.r ward (51%) and the time lag fro. maternal deterio.atio.s to.presentatio. to.the ICU was 72 ± 10 ho.rs. The main indicatio.s fo. admissio.s were due to.po.tpartum haemo.rhage (33.3%), co.plicatio.s o. hypertensive diso.ders o. pregnancy (30.9%) and sepsis (25.6%). Nineteen (48.7%) patients died fro. o.stetric haemo.rhage, co.plicatio.s o. hypertensive diso.ders o. pregnancy, sepsis and pulmo.ary embo.ism. Co.CLUSIo.. The trend o. maternal admissio.s at this specific time frame reflects the burden o. maternal critical care in o.r enviro.ment. It highlights the need to.ho.istically tackle the kno.n sco.rge with impro.ed care.

Co.cealed penis (CP) is a develo.mental ano.aly in which the penis is hidden in the skin o. the abdo.en, thigh o. scro.um. As a result o. this, the penis appears sho.tened in length. It was first described by Keyes Jr. E.L. in 1919. It can be asso.iated with vo.ding pro.lem and in adults, sexual issues, amo.g o.hers. o.jective: To.sho. that surgery can reverse celibacy induced by CP and highlight the need fo. an interdisciplinary appro.ch to.co.rectio. o. this ano.aly. Patient and Metho.: A thirty-o.e-year male patient who.had a surgical release o. his buried penis by two.surgeo.s in 2019 in a private ho.pital. The case no.e was reviewed, the data o.tained analyzed and the results including pho.o.raphs, were presented. The patient was fo.lo.ed up. Result: A 10 cm length o. penis and a hundred percent (100%) take o. sheet o. split skin graft used to.resurface the denuded penis were achieved using co.bined spinal and epidural anesthesia. The patient, his mo.her and the surgeo.s were satisfied with the o.tco.e. Co.sequently, he reso.ved to.marry a wife after all. Co.clusio.: Co.cealed penis can no. be regarded as a kno.n cause o. celibacy and surgical co.rectio. can reverse the celibate state.

本文的研究旨在确定象牙海岸农产品出口对当地经济增长的比重。论文分析中以可可为例,分析农产品出口与经济增长之间的关系。由于科特迪瓦是世界上第一大可可生产国,其产量占世界的40%,因此,分析可可生产在经济增长中的重要性非常重要。论文研究中数据取主要来自世界银行,以及1990年至2016年的粮食农业组织提供的统计数据。包括国内生产总值,可可豆,劳动力,国内固定资本总值,消费者价格指数。研究方法使用协整模型、纠错模型和格兰杰因果关系模型进行分析。本研究共分为六章,研究中得出的结论有:可可豆出口对经济增长具有负面影响或非显著性影响,也就是说可可出口对象牙海岸的经济增长没有负面影响;另外,研究还得出劳动力对经济增长的影响也是非显性因素。同时,根据论文的发现,建议应实施旨在提高这种作物的生产力和质量的政策,而这种提高的唯一的方法是通过提高单位产品的价格来获得丰厚的报酬。另外,在出口之前,应在可可豆中增加附加值,这样才能达到促进经济增长的期望。但是,对于那些从事可可豆生产的农民,为了确保他们能够从生产中获利或保证他们的最低利益,政府必须探索在可可豆出售前在农民家中进行可可豆加工的可能性。这样才能保证农民的基本利润,这样,农产品出口对该国的经济增长具有显著性。
