Under the renewable energy context, s.garcane biom.s. pyrolys.s.has.been growing as.a convenient route to produce bio-oil, which can be s.t into the chem.cal indus.ry and refineries.as.building blocks.or com.us.ion fuel. In this.work s.garcane s.raw was.s.bm.tted to direct pyrolys.s.in a fluidized bed pilot plant at 500°C, in pres.nce of air. s.garcane in natura was.als. pyrolys.d as.a m.del for com.aris.n, in order to determ.ne the viability of proces.ing different s.urces.of raw biom.s.. The phys.cochem.cal characterization of the biom.s. precurs.rs.as.well as.of the bio-oils.was.als. carried out, which points.both biom.s. feeds.ocks.as.s.itable for bio-oil production in term. of vis.os.ty, s.rface tens.on, dens.ty and acidity. The bio-oil obtained from.s.garcane in natura pres.nted higher carbon and hydrogen content as.well as.lower oxygen content. On the other hand, the m.tal content is.higher in the bio-oil obtained from.s.garcane s.raw, in s.ecial the iron and potas.ium.contents.were 807 ppm.and 123 ppm.agains. 27 ppm.and 1 ppm.in the bio-oil from.s.garcane in natura. Aliphatic and arom.tic com.ounds.as.well as.carbohydrates.s.affolds.were identified as.the m.in com.onents.of the bio-oil. GC-m. analys.s.s.owed arom.tic products.from.lignine fragm.ntation and free s.gars.and s.gar derivatives.

Optical im.ers.on clearing is.a technique that has.been widely s.udied for m.re than two decades.and that is.us.d to originate a tem.orary trans.arency effect in biological *** applied in cooperation with clinical m.thods.it provides.optim.zation of diagnos.s.and treatm.nt *** technique turns.biological tis.ues.m.re trans.arent through two m.in m.chanis.0}-tis.ue dehydration and refractive index(RI)m.tching between tis.ue *** m.tching is.obtained by partial replacem.nt of inters.it ial water by a biocom.at ible agent that pres.nts.higher RI and it can be com.letely rever s.ble by natural rehydration in vrivo or by as.is.ed rehydration in ex vivo *** data to characterize and dis.rim.nate between the two m.chanis.0} and to find new ones.are *** a s.m.le m.thod,bas.d on collim.ted trans.0}ttance and thicknes. m.as.rem.nts.m.de from.m.s.le s.m.les.under treatm.nt,we have es.im.ted the diffus.on properties.of glucos.,ethylene glycol(EG)and water that were us.d to perform.s.ch char acterization and *** thes. properties.with data from.literature that characterize their diffus.on in water we have obs.rved that m.s.e cell m.m.rane perm.ability lim.ts.agent and water diffus.on in the *** s.m. experi-m.ntal data has.allowed to calculate the optical dearing(OC)eficiency and m.ke an inter-pretation of the internal changes.that occurred in m.s.le during the *** s.m. m.thodology can now be us.d to perform.s.m.lar s.udies.with other agents.and in other tis.ues.in order to s.lve engineering problem. at des.gn of inexpens.ve and robus. technologies.for a *** im.rovem.nt of optical tom.gr aphic techm.ques.with better contras. and in depth im.ging.

In this.paper we m.dify the EBDF m.thod us.ng the NDFs.as.predictors.ins.ead of BDFs. This.m.dification, that we call ENDF, im.lies.the local truncation error being s.0}ller than in the EBDF m.thod without los.ng too m.ch s.ability. We will als. introduce two m.re changes. called ENBDF and EBNDF m.thods. In the firs. one, the NDF m.thod is.us.d as.the firs. predictor and the BDF as.the s.cond predictor. In the EBNDF, the BDF is.the firs. predictor and the NDF is.the s.cond one. In both m.difications.the local truncation error is.s.0}ller than in the EBDF. m.reover, the EBNDF m.thod has.a larger s.ability region than the EBDF.

In this.paper we m.dify the m.BDF m.thod us.ng the NDFs.as.predictors.ins.ead of the BDFs. We have done it in three different ways. changing both predictors.of the m.BDF, changing only the firs. predictor and changing only the s.cond one. We have called the new m.thods.m.NDF, m.NBDF and m.BNDF res.ectively. The new m.thods.are A-s.able up to order 4 and the s.ability properties.of the new m.thods.are better than the m.BDF m.thod.

The Baixada s.ntis.a coas.al region is.well known in the context of the high atm.s.heric, s.il and aquatic pollution levels.derived from.port, indus.rial, dom.s.ic and urban activities.exis.ent there, m.inly in function of the Cubatão indus.rial pole and port of s.ntos. The contam.nation by trace m.tals.in this.region is.rarely m.as.red in water colum. when com.ared with m.tal determ.nations.in s.dim.nt s.udies. This.s.udy aim. to evidence the levels.of dis.olved copper and total cadm.um.concentrations.in es.uarine and s.awater waters.us.ng electrochem.cal analys.s.as.a chronopotentiom.tric s.ripping polarography, which could im.rove the environm.ntal m.nitoring program. The s.udy was.perform.d in the Bay of s.ntos.reaching two es.uarine channels.(s.ntos.and s.4}o Vicente Channels. in two tide periods.in s.m.er 2001. This.region is.influenced by terres.rial and anthropogenic inputs.of trace m.tals.to s.awater. The res.lts.s.owed that dis.olved copper and total cadm.um.in water pres.nted the m.xim. concentrations.of 45.4 nm.and 2.6 nm.res.ectively. They not reached the lim.ts.propos.d by Brazilian Environm.ntal Law (CONAm.), that indicate, as.reference, a m.xim.m.of 123 nm.and 350 nm.for dis.olved copper and total cadm.um. res.ectively and, cons.dering s.awater coas.al s.s.em.(s.linity > 30, clas. 2) and als. brackis. water (clas. 2). Although the values.were under the m.xim.m.recom.ended for each m.tal, the concentrations.were not negligible in relation to the other polluted areas.in the world. The values.dis.ribution along the s.s.em.s.owed a progres.ive increas. in direction to the inner part of the s.s.em.that naturally com.rom.s.s.the local biota whos. is.m.re expos.d to the bioaccum.lation proces.es. and this.data corres.onds.to an im.ortant reference preterit value to the m.nitoring program.
