Soil Microbial Community-Level Physiological Profiling as Related to Carbon and Nitrogen Availability Under Different Land Uses

The goal of this work was to assess soil microbial respiration, determined by the assay of community-level physiological profiling in an oxygen-sensitive microplate （O2-CLPP）, in response to endogenous C and several individual C substrates in the soils with different organic C contents （as a function of soil type and management practice）. We also used the O2-CLPP to determine the respiratory response of these soils to endogenous C and amended C substrates with N addition. A respiratory quotient （RQ） was calculated based on the ratio of the response to endogenous soil C vs. each C-only substrate, and was related to total organic carbon （TOC）. For assessing N availability for microbial activity, the effect of N supplementation on soil respiration, expressed as Nr^tio, was calculated based on the response of several substrates to N addition relative to the response without N. Soils clustered in 4 groups after a principal component analysis （PCA）, based on TOC and their respiratory responses to substrates and endogenous C. These groups reflected differences among soils in their geographic origin, land use and C content. Calculated RQ values were significantly lower in natural forest soils than in managed soils for most C-only substrates. TOC was negatively correlated with RQ （r = -0.65）, indicating that the soils with higher organic matter content increased respiratory efficiency. The N addition in the assay in the absence of C amendment （i. e., only endogenous soil C present） had no effect on microbial respiration in any soil, indicating that these soils were not intrinsically N-limited, but substrate-dependent variation in Nr^tio within soil groups was observed.

Objective: To analyze outcomes and complications of cytoreductive prostatectomy (CRP) for oligometastatic prostate cancer (PCa) in order to elucidate its role in this ***: We performed a systematic literature search using three databases (Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science). The primary endpoints were oncologic outcomes. The secondary endpoints were complication rates and functional ***: In all studies, overall survival was better or at least comparable variable in the groups with CRP compared to no local treatment. The greatest benefit from CRP in 5-year overall survival in one study was 67.4% for CRP versus 22.5% for no local treatment. Cancer-specific survival (CSS) showed the same trend. Several authors found significant benefits from CSS in the CRP group: from 79% vs. 46% to 100% vs. 61%. CRP was a predictor of better CSS (hazard ratio 0.264, p=0.004). Positive surgical margin rates differed widely from 28.6% to 100.0%. Urinary continence in CRP versus RP for localized PCa was significantly lower (57.4% vs. 90.8%, pdely, from 7.0% to 43.6%. Rates of grades 1 and 2 events prevailed. Patients on ADT alone also showed a considerable number of complications varying from 5.9% to 57.7%.Conclusion: CRP improves medium-term cancer control in patients with oligometastatic PCa. The morbidity and complication rates of this surgery are comparable with other approaches, but postoperative incontinence rate is higher compared with RP for localized disease.

Social media is commonly used by governments to disseminate information related to transparency and institutional promotion,but its potential for the dissemination of cultural resources is often *** research proposes a strategy for adopting social media to achieve cultural dissemination in the municipality of Lamas,Peru,which has tourism potential and has been awarded the“Best Tourism Villages”seal of the World Tourism ***,we propose a case study at a propositional exploratory *** start by determining the current state of dissemination of tangible and intangible resources,as well as the practical use of social media,through a survey of 20 *** results reveal that crafts are the most widely disseminated tangible resource in the municipality(according to 55%of officials),and intangible resources are occasionally disseminated(50%).We also find that Facebook is the only digital channel used to disseminate cultural *** this context,we formulate a strategy for adopting social media to improve cultural dissemination,which consists of six phases:(i)forming a work team,(ii)preparing a budget plan,(iii)strengthening capacities,(iv)taking inventory of cultural resources,(v)coordinating community interests and(vi)preparing a cultural dissemination *** findings can contribute to formulating public initiatives for the institutionalisation of social media in governments for the purposes of preserving,promoting and guaranteeing the accessibility of cultural heritage.
