Reduction behavior of pure and doped CeO2, the multi-phase ***2, ***0.2MnO3 . xCeO2, and ***2 composites, was studied under hydrogen containing atmosphere to address issues related to the improvement of electrochemical and catalytic performance of electrodes in fuel cells. The enhanced reduction of cerium oxide was observed initially at 800~C in all composites in spite of the presence of highly reducible transition metal cations that could lead to the increase in surface concentration of oxygen vacancies and generation of the electron enriched surface. Due to continuous reduction of cerium oxide in La0.6Sr0.4CoO3 ＂x- CeO2 and ***3 ＂xCeO2 （up to 10 h） composites the redox activity of the Ce4＋/Ce3＋ pair could be suppressed and additional measures are required for reversible spontaneous regeneration of Ce4＋. After 3 h exposure to H2-Ar at 800~C the reduction of cerium oxides and perovskite phases in La0.95Ni0.6Fe0.403 ＂xCeO2 com- posites was diminished. The extent of cerium oxide involvement in the reduction process varies with time, and depends on its initial deviation from oxygen stoichiometry （that results in the larger lattice parameter and the longer pathway for O2 transport through the fluorite lattice）, chemical origin of transition metal cations in the perovskite, and phase diversity in multi-phase composites.

One of the strongest risk factors for prostate cancer is a family history of the disease. Germline mutations in the breast cancer predisposition gene 2 （BRCA2） are the genetic events known to date that confer the highest risk of prostate cancer （8.6-fold in men ≤ 65 years）. Although the role of BRCA2 and BRCA1 in prostate tumorigenesis remains unrevealed, deleterious mutations in both genes have been associated with more aggressive disease and poor clinical outcomes. The increasing incidence of prostate cancer worldwide supports the need for new methods to predict outcome and identify patients with potentially lethal forms of the disease. As we present here, BRCA germline mutations, mainly in the BRCA2gene, are one of those predictive factors. We will also discuss the implications of these mutations in the management of prostate cancer and hypothesize on the potential for the development of strategies for sooradic cases with similar characteristics.

A considerable part of the world's population is currently experiencing a severe scarcity of freshwater and nutrition. Inland aquaculture has the fastest growth in fresh waters, and this contributes to the eutrophication of freshwater bodies. The increase in freshwater aquaculture impacts on the increasing demand for fresh water. A way to overcome this is to develop aquaculture in saline lakes. This article discusses how saline and hypersaline lakes may contribute to overcome this problem and gives a list of fish and shrimp species that can be cultivated in saline lakes. Successful development of aquaculture depends on a healthy cultured stock of commercial fish and shrimps. A sustainable healthy stock of fish and shrimps can be only maintained using live food for the cultured fish larvae, fry and fingerlings. As well as Artemia spp. there are many other crustacean species with the potential for growing in hypersaline waters. At least 26 copepod species around the world can live at a salinity above 100 g/L with 12 species at a salinity higher than 200 g/L, and these all have excellent nutritional value. There is a high potential to use eukaryotic organisms of diff erent taxa in saline/hypersaline aquaculture for food, agri-aquaculture, diff erent industries and as food supplements.

The pathogenic Wolbachia strain wMelPop rapidly over-replicates in the brain, muscles, and retina of Drosophila melanogaster, causing severe tissue degeneration and premature death of the host. The unique features of this endosymbiont make it an excellent tool to be used for biological control of insects, pests, and vectors of human diseases. To follow the dynamics of bacterial morphology and titer in the nerve cells we used transmission electron microscopy of 3-d-old female brains. The neurons and glial cells from central brain of the fly had different Wolbachia titers ranging from single bacteria to large accumulations, tearing cell apart and invading extracellular space. The neuropile regions of the brain were free of wMelPop. Wolbaehia tightly interacted with host cell organelles and underwent several morphological changes in nerve cells. Based on different morphological types of bacteria described we propose for the first time a scheme of wMelPop dynamics within the somatic tissue of the host.

A small number of copepod species have adapted to an existence in the extreme habitat of hypersaline water. 13 copepod species have been recorded in the hypersaline waters of Crimea （the largest peninsula in the Black Sea with over 50 hypersaline lakes）. Summarizing our own and literal_re data, the author concludes that the Crimean extreme environment is not an exception： copepod species dwell in hypersaline waters worldwide. There are at least 26 copepod species around the world living at salinity above 100; among them 12 species are found at salinity higher than 200. In the Crimea Cletocamptus retrogressus is found at salinity 360×10^-3 （with a density of 1 320 individuals/m^3） and Arctodiaptomus salinus at salinity 300×10^-3 （with a density of 343 individuals/m^3）. Those species are probably the most halotolerant copepod species in the world. High halotolerance of osmoconforming copepods may be explained by exoosmolyte consumption, mainly with food. High tolerance to many factors in adults, availability of resting stages, and an opportunity of long-distance transportation of resting stages by birds and/or winds are responsible for the wide geographic distribution of these halophilic copepods.

Multiple receptor-like kinases （RLKs） enable intercellular communication that coordinates growth and development of plant tissues. ERECTA family receptors （ERfs） are an ancient family of leucine-rich repeat RLKs that in Arabidopsis consists of three genes： ERECTA, ERL1, and ERL2. ERfs sense secreted cysteine-rich peptides from the EPF/EPFL family and transmit the signal through a MAP kinase cascade. This review discusses the functions of ERfs in stomata development, in regulation of longitudinal growth of aboveground organs, during reproductive development, and in the shoot apical meristem. In addition the role of ERECTA in plant responses to biotic and abiotic factors is examined.

Manufacturing robotics is moving towards human-robot collaboration with light duty robots being used side by side with workers. Similarly, exoskeletons that are both passive(spring and counterbalance forces) and active(motor forces) are worn by humans and used to move body parts. Exoskeletons are also called ‘wearable robots' when they are actively controlled using a computer and integrated sensing. Safety standards now allow, through risk assessment, both manufacturing and wearable robots to be used. However, performance standards for both systems are still lacking. Ongoing research to develop standard test methods to assess the performance of manufacturing robots and emergency response robots can inspire similar test methods for exoskeletons. This paper describes recent research on performance standards for manufacturing robots as well as search and rescue robots. It also discusses how the performance of wearable robots could benefit from using the same test methods.

Transverse magnetoresistance peculiarities of thermoelectric Lu-doped Bi_2Te_3 compound due to strong electrical disorder

The n-type thermoelectric Bi_(1.9)Lu_(0.1)Te_3 was prepared by microwave-solvothermal method and spark plasma sintering. The magnetic field and temperature dependences of transverse magneto resistance measured within temperature 2-200 K interval allow finding the peculiarities characteristic for strongly disordered and inhomogeneous semiconductors. The first peculiarity is due to appearance of linear-inmagnetic field contribution to the total magneto resistance reflected in a crossover from quadratic magnetoresistance at low magnetic fields to linear magneto resistance at high magnetic fields. The linear magnetoresistance can result from the Hall resistance picked up from macroscopically distorted current paths due to local variations in stoichiometry of the compound studied. The second peculiarity is that both linear magnetoresistance magnitude and crossover field are functions of carrier mobility which is in agreement with the Parish and Littlewood model developed for disordered and inhomogeneous semiconductors. An increase in the mobility due to a decrease in temperature is accompanied by an increase in the magnetoresistance magnitude and a decrease in the crossover field. Finally, the third peculiarity is related to the remarkable deviation of the total magnetoresistance measured at various temperatures from the Kohler's rule. Presence of strong inhomogeneity and disorder in the Bi_(1.9)Lu_(0.1)Te_3 structure concluded from the magnetoresistance peculiarities can be responsible for the remarkable reduction in the total thermal conductivity of this compound.

Crohn's disease(CD) represents a chronic transmural inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract, which usually leads to structural damage and signific-ant disability. Deep remission--defined by both clinical and endoscopic remission, signifying mucosal healing-represents the current endpoint in the treat--to--target strategy, significantly improving patients' long--term outcomes. Transmural healing(TH) could be a more effe-ctive target, but this possibility remains unclear. This narrative review aims to critically review and summarize the available literature relating TH to long--term outcomes, being the first of its kind and to the best of the author's knowledge. A systematic literature search(from incep-tion to March 31 2018) was performed, using multiple databases, and identifying seven full--text manuscripts. In those studies, long--term favorable outcomes(≥ 52 wk) included sustained clinical remission, as well as fewer therapeutic changes, CD--related hospitalizations, and surgeries. Despite heterogeneous design and me-thodological limitations, six of the studies demonstrated that TH or intestinal healing(TH plus mucosal healing) were predictive for the aforementioned favorable out-comes. Therefore, TH may become a reasonable the-rapeutic target and be included in the concept of deep remission. Further prospective, well-designed, multicenter trials aiming to better define the role of TH in personalized therapy for CD and to determine the long-term influence of TH on bowel damage and disability are warranted.
