A new Modified Discrete Wavelets Packets Transform (MDWPT) based method for the compression of Surface EMG signal (s-EMG) data is presented. A Modified Discrete Wavelets Packets Transform (MDWPT) is applied to the digitized s-EMG signal. A Discrete Cosine Transforms (DCT) is applied to the MDWPT coefficients (only on detail coefficients). The MDWPT+ DCT coefficients are quantized with a Uniform Scalar Dead-Zone Quantizer (USDZQ). An arithmetic coder is employed for the entropy coding of symbol streams. The proposed approach was tested on more than 35 actuals S-EMG signals divided into three categories. The proposed approach was evaluated by the following parameters: Compression Factor (CF), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Percent Root mean square Difference (PRD), Mean Frequency Distortion (MFD) and the Mean Square Error (MSE). Simulation results show that the proposed coding algorithm outperforms some recently developed s-EMG compression algorithms.

Outpatients receive medical treatment without being admitted to a hospital. They are not hospitalized for 24 hours or more but visit hospital, clinic or associated facility for diagnosis or treatment [1]. But the problems of keeping their records for quick access by the management and provision of confidential, secure medical report that facilitates planning and decision making and hence improves medical service delivery are vital issues. This paper explores the challenges of manual outpatient records system for General Hospital, Minna and infers solutions to the current challenges by designing an online outpatient’s database system. The main method used for this research work is interview. Two (2) doctors, three (3) nurses on duty and two (2) staff at the record room were interviewed. Fifty (50) sampled outpatient records were collected. The combination of PHP, MYSQL and MACROMIDIA DREAMVEAVER was used to design the webpage and input data. The records were implemented on the designed outpatient management system and the outputs were produced. The finding shows these challenges facing the manual system of inventory management system. Distortion of patient’s folder and difficulty in searching a patient’s folder, difficulty in relating previous complaint with the new complains because of volume of the folder, slow access to patient diagnosis history during emergency, lack of back up when an information is lost, and preparation of accurate and prompt reports make it become a difficult task as information is difficult to collect from various register. Based on the findings, this paper highlights the possible solutions to the above problems. An online outpatient database system was designed to keep the outpatients records and improve medical service delivery.

To evaluate the performance of a photovoltaic panel, several parameters must be extracted from the photovoltaic. These parameters are very important for the evaluation, monitoring and optimization of photovoltaic. Among the methods developed to extract photovoltaic parameters from current-voltage (I-V) characteristic curve, metaheuristic algorithms are the most used nowadays. A new metaheuristic algorithm namely enhanced vibrating particles system algorithm is presented here to extract the best values of parameters of a photovoltaic cell. Five recent algorithms (grey wolf optimization (GWO), moth-flame optimization algorithm (MFOA), multi-verse optimizer (MVO), whale optimization algorithm (WAO), salp swarm-inspired algorithm (SSA)) are also implemented on the same computer. Enhanced vibrating particles system is inspired by the free vibration of the single degree of freedom systems with viscous damping. To extract the photovoltaic parameters using enhanced vibrating particles system algorithm, the problem can be set as an optimization problem with the objective to minimize the difference between measured and estimated current. Four case studies have been implemented here. The results and comparison with other methods exhibit high accuracy and validity of the proposed enhanced vibrating particles system algorithm to extract parameters of a photovoltaic cell and module.

Human activities have severely impacted on many species and ***,understanding the local biodiversity situation is crucial for implementing effective biodiversity conservation *** in the southern Philippines is home to various unique species,particularly in its pristine ***,the available biodiversity data for many terrestrial vertebrates and key areas remain *** address this issue,we synthesized published literature related to biodiversity from 2000 to 2022 in ***,this analysis used four key terrestrial vertebrates(amphibians,reptiles,birds,and mammals)in Mindanao as research *** to our findings,there was a significant and positive correlation between the number of biodiversity studies and species *** terms of species richness,birds were the most recorded group(n=334 spp.),followed by reptiles(n=108 spp.),mammals(n=70 spp.),and amphibians(n=52 spp.).We also found that the number of endemic and threatened species varies geographically and across taxonomic ***,we discovered a significant disparity in the information available on biodiversity in different provinces of *** example,the western provinces of Mindanao have had no record of biodiversity for more than two ***,we found that the changes in tree cover loss were consistent with biodiversity records,but this correlation is only significant for ***,we highlighted some critical threats and challenges to biodiversity,including deforestation,agricultural expansion,mining,and their impact on biodiversity conservation in *** findings suggested that biodiversity conservation should focus not only on areas with high levels of biodiversity but also on areas lacking biodiversity *** do this,we call for strengthening collaboration among various institutions and digitizing and centralizing of information related to *** gaining a deeper understanding of biodiversit

Hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection and diabetes mellitus are two major public health problems that cause devastating health and financial burdens worldwide. Diabetes can be classified into two major types: type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM) and T2 DM. T2 DM is a common endocrine disorder that encompasses multifactorial mechanisms, and T1 DM is an immunologically mediated disease. Many epidemiological studies have shown an association between T2 DM and chronic hepatitis C(CHC) infection. The processes through which CHC is associated with T2 DM seem to involve direct viral effects, insulin resistance, proinflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and other immunemediated mechanisms. Few data have been reported on the association of CHC and T1 DM and reports on the potential association between T1 DM and acute HCV infection are even rarer. A small number of studies indicate that interferon-α therapy can stimulate pancreatic autoim-munity and in certain cases lead to the development of T1 DM. Diabetes and CHC have important interactions. Diabetic CHC patients have an increased risk of developing cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma compared with nondiabetic CHC subjects. However, clinical trials on HCV-positive patients have reported improvements in glucose metabolism after antiviral treatment. Further studies are needed to improve prevention policies and to foster adequate and cost-effec-tive programmes for the surveillance and treatment of diabetic CHC patients.

A method for robust analog fault diagnosis using hybrid neural networks is proposed. The primary focus of the paper is to provide robust diagnosis using a mechanism to deal with the problem of element tolerances and reduce testing time. The proposed approach is based on the fault dictionary diagnosis method and backward propagation neural network (BPNN) and the adaptive resonance theory (ART) neural network. Simulation results show that the method is robust and fast for fault diagnosis of analog circuits with tolerances.
