Beryl is the commercial source of beryllium and several varieties of it are valued as a *** contribute to understanding the mechanism of beryl formation,we carried out detailed geological,petrographical,and geochemical investigations on beryl mineralization occurrences in the Zabara-Wadi el Gemal(Z-WG)*** region is an NW-SE trending tract that includes six berylhosting *** green gem variety of beryl(emerald)is restricted to phlogopite schist,pegmatite,and quartz *** hexagonal emerald crystals are well-developed in phlogopite schist and *** gem variety emerald examined is sodic and *** contains high concentrations of chromophore transition elements ordering Cr(up to 1511 ppm)>V(up to 242 ppm)>Sc(up to 245 ppm),giving rise to its vivid green color,refl ecting mafic-ultramafic source *** the investigated emeralds,the Sikait area contains the highest BeO(av.10.76wt.%)*** compositional variability of emeralds is most likely attributed to the contribution from the host *** is revealed by the examined emerald mineralization,for instance;the Abu rusheid area(one of the best areas exposing rare metal-bearing granitoids)possesses the highest average of trace and rEEs *** contrast,Um Kabu emerald has the highest contents of Co(av.20 ppm),Ni(av.299 ppm),MgO(av.8.2wt.%),Fe_(2)O_(3)(av.3.12wt.%),and CaO(avg.3.4wt.%)relative to other areas,which may be linked to contribution of ultramafic rocks exposed *** proposed mechanism we suggest for emerald genesis is metasomatic interaction between felsic intrusions,that are enriched with K,Na,Be,Li,and B,with mafic-ultramafic rocks that are enriched in Cr,V,Mg,Fe,and *** interaction is marked by the formation of phlogopite schist,the growth of emerald crystals,and desilicated pegmatite.

Impact of recycling improvement on the life cycle of phosphorus

Access to natural resources is increasingly more difficult and more costly, partly due to their economic significance and to continuous increase of their global consumption in the recent years. In the case of phosphorus (P), which is a critical raw material, geological distribution of its primary nonrenewable source (phosphate rock) is concentrated in particular regions leading to high supply risk of this raw material. In Europe (EU-28), where phosphate rock reserves are scarce, import of phosphorus has been the main source of supply. It means that Europe relies highly on the foreign exporters. From decision makers' perspective, recycling of phosphorus was taken into account as one of the possible solutions to decrease the dependence on imports and extraction of reserves. The question, however, is to what extent does the recycling of phosphorus help in reducing the reliance on typical supply resources? Hence, the main objective of this paper is to quantify the dynamic flow of phosphorus and show potential benefits of its recycling in Europe. This article presents a system dynamics model for representation of the element P flow and helps to quantify to what extent the recycled phosphorus could mitigate its criticality. Analysis of the results supports previous studies indicating the high reliance ofEU on P imports, estimating around 96% as the reliance percentage on imports. The results imply that improving P recycling has the potential to decrease the level of P imports to a certain extent, which may reach 79%.

This paper presents an adaptive control system using model predictive control for a biogas-fueled power *** control scheme is derived from an anaerobic digestion model that includes the concentration of biodegradable volatile solid in the reactor,the concentration of volatile solid in influent,the concentration of acidogens,and the concentration of *** these concentrations are the state variables of model predictive *** whole biogas-fueled power system has been modeled,implemented,and tested in MATLAB/Simulink *** validate the performance of the proposed controller,different operation conditions are studied and *** simulation results prove the effectiveness and the applicability of the proposed control system under different operating conditions.

Safety and effi cacy of hepatitis A vaccine in children with chronic liver diseas

AIM： To study the safety and efficacy of hepatitis A vaccine （HAV） in children with chronic liver disease of various etiologies. METHODS： eleven children with chronic liver disease and thirteen age- and sex-matched controls negative for HAV antibodies were vaccinated against hepatitis A after they gave their informed consent. Children with uncontrolled coagulopathy or signs of hepatic decompensation were excluded. The vaccine （Havrix： 720 elISA units in 0.5 mL, from GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals） was given intramuscularly in the deltoid in 2 doses 6 mo apart. Children were tested for HAV antibodies one and six months after the ist dose and one month after the 2^nd dose. Total serum bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase （ALT）, and aspartate aminotransferase （AST） were determined immediately before and after one month of the 1st dose of the vaccine. rESULTS： Only 7 out of the 11 patients were positive for HAV antibodies after the 1^st dose of the vaccine, as compared to 100% of the controls. One month after the 2nd dose, all patients tested were positive for HAV antibodies. No deterioration in liver functions of patients was noted after vaccination. No adverse events, immediate or late, were reported by the mothers after each dose of the vaccine. CONCLUSION： Hepatitis A vaccine is both safe and effective in this small studied group of children with chronic liver disease. Given the high seroconversion rate, post-vaccination testing for HAV antibodies is not needed.

Effect of Microalloying Additions on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Low Carbon Steel

Low carbon steels are characterized by good weldability,formability and fracture toughness ***,the low strength levels of these steel grades limit their wide *** the other hand,increasing the strength by increasing the carbon content and alloying elements deteriorates the other *** this study,the microalloying technique was used to examine the possibility of attaining low carbon steels with good combination of strength,ductility and impact properties.A low carbon steel microalloyed with single addition of vanadium and another one microalloyed with combined addition of vanadium and titanium were used in this investigation and their properties were compared with non-microalloyed low carbon steel having the same base ***,other two nonmicroalloyed and V-microalloyed steels with higher carbon,silicon and manganese contents were also investigated to reveal the effect of base ***,hardness,room and zero temperature Charpy V-notch impact tests were conducted to evaluate the variations in the mechanical properties of low carbon hot forged steel containing vanadium and combinations of vanadium and *** addition,the microstructures of the different investigated steels were observed using both optical microscope and scanning electron ***,the hardness of the ferrite phase was also determined using micro-hardness *** results showed improvement of the mechanical properties of the investigated steels by both single V-and combined V + ***,hardness and impact tests results indicated that good combinations of strength,ductility and impact properties can be achieved by V-microalloying *** with combination of V and Ti microaddition has much higher hardness,yield strength,ultimate tensile strength and impact energy at both room and zero temperatures compared with non-microalloyed and single Vmicroalloyed *** C,Si and Mn contents result in

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic is a threat worldwide for individuals of all ages,including *** manifestations could be the initial presenting manifestation in many patients,especially in *** symptoms are more common in patients with severe disease than in patients with non-severe *** 48.1%of patients had a stool sample that was positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SArS-CoV-2)viral *** typically form 1%-8%of all laboratoryconfirmed cases of *** manifestations of COVID-19 in children are not rare,with a prevalence between 0 and 88%,and a wide variety of presentations,including diarrhoea,vomiting,and abdominal pain,can develop before,with or after the development of respiratory *** manifestations such as appendicitis or liver injury could also appear,especially in the presence of multisystem inflammatory *** this review,we discussed the epidemiology of COVID-19 gastrointestinal diseases in children as well as their implications on the diagnosis,misdiagnosis,prognosis,and faecal-oral transmission route of COVID-19 and the impact of gastrointestinal diseases on the gut microbiome,child nutrition,and disease management.

Predisposing factors, clinical assessment, management and outcomes of agitation in the trauma intensive care unit

BACKGrOUND: Agitation occurs frequently among critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit(ICU). We aimed to evaluate the frequency, predisposing factors and outcomes of agitation in trauma ICU. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted to include patients who were admitted to the trauma ICU between April 2014 and March 2015. Data included patient's demographics, initial vitals, associated injuries, ramsey Sedation Scale, Glasgow Coma Scale, head injury lesions, use of sedatives and analgesics, head interventions, ventilator days, and ICU length of stay. Patients were divided into two groups based on the agitation ***: A total of 102 intubated patients were enrolled; of which 46(45%) experienced agitation. Patients in the agitation group were 7 years younger, had significantly lower GCS and sustained higher frequency of head injuries(Peloped agitation were more likely to be prescribed propofol alone or in combination with midazolam and to have frequent ICP catheter insertion, longer ventilatory days and higher incidence of pneumonia(Priate analysis, use of propofol alone(Or=4.97; 95% CI=1.35–18.27), subarachnoid hemorrhage(Or=5.11; 95% CI=1.38–18.91) and ICP catheter insertion for severe head injury(Or=4.23; 95% CI=1.16–15.35) were independent predictors for agitation(Prequent problem in trauma ICU and is mainly related to the type of sedation and poor outcomes in terms of prolonged mechanical ventilation and development of nosocomial pneumonia. Therefore, understanding the main predictors of agitation facilitates early risk-stratification and development of better therapeutic strategies in trauma patients.

Power Inverted Topp–Leone Distribution in Acceptance Sampling Plans

We introduce a new two-parameter model related to the inverted Topp–Leone distribution called the power inverted Topp–Leone(PITL)*** properties of the PITL distribution are stated;including;quantile measures,moments,moment generating function,probability weighted moments,Bonferroni and Lorenz curve,stochastic ordering,incomplete moments,residual life function,and entropy *** sampling plans are developed for the PITL distribution,when the life test is truncated at a pre-specified *** truncation time is assumed to be the median lifetime of the PITL distribution with pre-specified *** minimum sample size necessary to ensure the specified life test is obtained under a given consumer’s *** results for given consumer’s risk,parameters of the PITL distribution and the truncation time are *** estimation of the model parameters is argued using maximum likelihood,least squares,weighted least squares,maximum product of spacing and Bayesian methods.A simulation study is confirmed to evaluate and compare the behavior of different *** real data applications are afforded in order to examine the flexibility of the proposed model compared with some others *** results show that the power inverted Topp–Leone distribution is the best according to the model selection criteria than other competitive models.
