Secondary alteration of minerals in basalts of the Evevpenta gold occurrence(North Kamchatka， Russia) as indicators of ore forming processes

This paper describes in detail the mineralogy of the propylitic alteration of basalt host rocks in the Evevpenta gold occurrence in North Kamchatka. The vein system of the Evevpenta consists of quartz， adularia-quartz， quartz-carbonate veins， and， hydrothermal breccias hosted in dacite. Vein minerals are native gold， tellurides， sulfides， selenides， Au-Ag chlorides. The propylitic alteration occurs at a distance from the epithermal veins; however， it contains characteristic mineral assemblages useful for the reconstruction of an ore-formation environment. Four distinct hydrothermal alteration assemblages were recognized within the propylitic zone in this study: (1) Fluorapatite-fluorine-aluminous titanite， (2) Quartz-calcite-clinochlore， (3) Quartz-calcite-stilbite-montmorillonite， and 4. Calcite-mordenite. The earliest mineral assemblage was formed from an acid F-enriched hydrothermal fluid. The concentration of fluoride in fluid was 0.2–1.2 g/L， and temperature of about 550 ℃. The long-term interaction between the acid hydrothermal fluid and olivine basalt host rocks resulted in increasing pH to near neutral that caused chloritization process. The chloritization stage hydrothermal fluid was enriched in Fe and Mg with temperatures of about 175–210℃， chlorite I， and 120–140℃， chlorite II. The final stage of alteration consists of zeolite group minerals， which were precipitated from the hydrothermal fluid of pH ～ 9 and temperature >135℃. The high pH of the hydrothermal fluid could be explained by the presence of bicarbonates and carbonates and removal of the iron salt from the solution. Based on the alteration mineral assemblages of the propylitic zone， the physical and chemical conditions of the Evevpenta vein system are discussed. The transport of ore elements took place due to the formation of precious metal Cl–and OH–complexes at the stage of hydrothermal system formation with circulation of alkaline sodium chloride solutions. The purpose of this work is to perform a detailed study of carbohydrate specificity of the new extracellular bacilli lectins which is considered to determine mechanisms of the lectins action. Sources of lectins were bacterial strains from Ukrainian collection of microorganisms. The optimized protocol of bacilli lectins isolation and purification included precipitation with ammonium sulfate with subsequent gel filtration chromatography on Sepharose CL-6B. Hemagglutinating activity of bacilli lectins and their fine carbohydrate specificity to sialic acids and their derivatives as well as sialic asid-containing and asialic glycoconjugates were studied. The ability of extracellular bacilli lectins to discriminate a- and 13-conformation of carbohydrate molecule and the type of connection between the monomers was determined. Studied lectins showed the most affinity to glycoconjugates containing both types of sialic acids （N-acetylneuraminic acid （Neu5Ac） and N-glycolylneuraminic acid （NeuGc）） and it is supposed to be a basis of their diagnostic and analytical potential.

This study intends to analyze the process of Bohai state studied by Russian researches since the end of 19th century. The actively developed Bohai state was located at the territory of the present south of Primorski Krai of Russia,Southeast Manchuria(the China nowadays) and the Northeast of the Korean peninsula(the North Korea nowadays) in 698-926. In Russia there are about 200 places in general in the valley of the river Razdol’naya, Primorski Kray where the Shuaibin region and district capital,Janchzhou was located. The study of Bohai state by Russian researches can be divided into 2 main periods. Treg/Th17 cell balance and phytohaemagglutinin activation of T lymphocytes in peripheral blood of systemic sclerosis patients

AIM To investigate T-cell activation, the percentage of peripheral T regulatory cells(Tregs), Th17 cells and the circulating cytokine profile in systemic sclerosis(SSc).METHODS We enrolled a total of 24 SSc patients and 16 healthy controls in the study and divided the patients as having diffuse cutaneous SSc(dc SSc, n = 13) or limited cutaneous SSc(lc SSc, n = 11). We performed a further subdivision of the patients regarding the stage of the disease-early, intermediate or late. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected from all subjects. We performed flow cytometric analysis of the activationcapacity of T-lymphocytes upon stimulation with PHA-M and of the percentage of peripheral Tregs and Th17 cells in both patients and healthy controls. We used ELISA to quantitate serum levels of human interleukin(IL)-6, IL-10, tissue growth factor-β1(TGF-β1), and IL-17 *** We identified a decreased percentage of CD3+CD69+ cells in PHA-stimulated samples from SSc patients in comparison with healthy controls(13.35% ± 2.90% vs 37.03% ± 2.33%, P < 0.001). However, we did not establish a correlation between the down-regulated CD3+CD69+ cells and the clinical subset, nor regarding the stage of the disease. The activated CD4+CD25+ peripheral lymphocytes were represented in decreased percentage in patients when compared to controls(6.30% ± 0.68% vs 9.36% ± 1.08%, P = 0.016). Regarding the forms of the disease, dc SSc patients demonstrated lower frequency of CD4+CD25+ T cells against healthy subjects(5.95% ± 0.89% vs 9.36% ± 1.08%, P = 0.025). With regard to Th17 cells, our patients demonstrated increased percentage in comparison with controls(18.13% ± 1.55% vs 13.73% ± 1.21%, P = 0.031). We detected up-regulated Th17 cells within the lc SSc subset against controls(20.46% ± 2.41% vs 13.73% ± 1.21%, P = 0.025), nevertheless no difference was found between dc SSc and lc SSc patients. Plasma-Catalytic Decomposition of 2,4-Dichlorophenol in a Dielectric Barrier Discharge with a Vermiculite ZiO2 Composite

The paper presents comparative kinetic characteristics of the decomposition of 2,4-dichlorophenol in a dielectric barrier discharge and a combined plasma-catalytic process. Vermiculite containing 5% zirconium was used as a catalyst. The destruction processes of 2,4-DCP proceed efficiently, the degree of decomposition increases in the combined plasma-catalytic process by a factor of 1.33 and reaches 80%. The experimental results were processed according to the first-order kinetic law (R2 > 0.97), according to which the effective constants (0.36 ± 0.04) and (0.51 ± 0.03) s-1 and the decomposition rates of 2,4-DCP (106 and 123 μmol/l·s) when treating model solutions without a catalyst and with vermiculite + Zr 5%, respectively, and the energy costs are 0.012 and 0.017 molecules/100eV. The main decomposition products present in the solution have been determined to be carboxylic acids, aldehydes, the contribution of which does not exceed 2%, as well as chloride ions, and in the gas phase they are carbon dioxide and molecular chlorine (the share of which does not exceed 1.5% of total chlorine content in the system).

Baddeleyite from Large Complex Deposits: Significance for Archean-Paleozoic Plume Processes in the Arctic Region (NE Fennoscandian Shield) Based on U-Pb (ID-TIMS) and LA-ICP-MS Data

Baddeleyite is an important mineral geochronometer. It is valued in the U-Pb (ID-TIMS) geochronology more than zircon because of its magmatic origin, while zircon can be metamorphic, hydrothermal or occur as xenocrysts. Detailed mineralogical (BSE, KL, etc.) research of baddeleyite started in the Fennoscandian Shield in the 1990s. The mineral was first extracted from the Paleozoic Kovdor deposit, the second-biggest baddeleyite deposit in the world after Phalaborwa (2.1 Ga), South Africa. The mineral was successfully introduced into the U-Pb systematics. This study provides new U-Pb and LA-ICP-MS data on Archean Ti-Mgt and BIF deposits, Paleoproterozoic layered PGE intrusions with Pt-Pd and Cu-Ni reefs and Paleozoic complex deposits (baddeleyite, apatite, foscorite ores, etc.) in the NE Fennoscandian Shield. Data on concentrations of REE in baddeleyite and temperature of the U-Pb systematics closure are also provided. It is shown that baddeleyite plays an important role in the geological history of the Earth, in particular, in the break-up of supercontinents.

The Influence of Ceric Oxide on Phase Composition and Activity of Iron Oxide Catalysts

The process of dehydrogenation of methyl butenes to isoprene is conducted in the presence of iron oxide catalysts whose composition may include oxides of alkaline metals, alkaline earth metals, and transition metals. Catalysts of latest generation can also contain oxides of rare earth elements, particularly cerium oxide. However there is no any common opinion concerning its effect on catalytic properties of iron oxide catalysts. It is well known that ceric oxide has a positive effect on the quantity and stability of active centers and can play a critical role in a redox cycle of the dehydrogenation process. By means of differential thermal analysis, dispersion analysis and X-ray phase analysis, it was found in present study that introducing of ceric oxide promotes the decrease in hematite crystallite sizes. At the same time, it prevents potassium polyferrites formation, with the equilibrium of topochemical reaction between ferric oxide and po tassium carbonates moving predominantly to the formation of intermediate products–monoferrite systems, having greater catalytic activity. The increase in potassium monoferrite content results in dispersion of particles in the Fe2O3-K2CO3-СеО2 system that is accompanied by modification of texture characteristics. For this catalyst composition, the optimum concentration of ceric oxide (8.7 wt.%), leading to the formation of a certain ratio of mono- and polyferrite phases, was found. If more than 8.7 wt.% of СеО2 is introduced, the modification of texture characteristics of catalyst samples takes place, that negatively affects their selectivity.
