The present study is part of the Executive Scientific Project 2 in the ItalMed Project which aims to elaborate a feasibility study for new transport connections between Italy and Algeria. The main objectives of the study are to increase the degree of economic integration between the two countries and improve commercial exchanges and direct investments in Algeria by Italian private companies. Moreover, the study tries to promote Italy＇s role as logistic platform for Mediterranean Countries along the east-west and north-south corridors and to improve the capacity of Italian regions to manage international cooperation programs on transport and logistics, finally, to support regional entrepreneurship in the foreign services sector.

Life Style and Risk Behavior of Street Children in Bangladesh: A Health Perspective

Background: Street children concern to millions of deprived boys and girls who have adopted the street as their residence. They grow up where tranquility and physical and emotional stability are frequently threatened. The purpose is to have an empathetic look into the lives of street children for identifying their health-related needs. Method: A cross sectional descriptive type of study was conducted among 125 street children between the ages 8 to 14 years who were available at different intercept points of Dhaka city, Bangladesh. The information was collected through face-to-face interview using a structured questionnaire. An attempt was made to relate their lifestyle, risk behavior and health impact upon the socio demographic characteristics. Result: According to the statement of street children, poverty (41%) is the main reason behind enforcing the children to stay and work on the street. They pass their leisure by playing games, roaming around by watching video/cinema but on the other side of the coin, they are frequently abused (80.8%) either physically or sexually. Regarding health, about 87.2% of street children were suffering from different type of diseases as accidental injury, skin infection, hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases and warm infestation. Conclusion: A careful examination of the lives of these children will provide a clearer understanding of their disadvantageous life. A better diagnosis of the contributing factors will help to minimize the extent of the problems and also to develop innovative approaches and ensure a healthy lifestyle, protection and rehabilitation for those children.

AIM: To review the clinical presentation and surgical management of complicated hydatid cysts of the liver and to assess whether conservative surgery is adequate in the management of complicated hydatid cysts of ***:The study was carried out at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science,Srinagar,Kashmir,*** nine patients with hydatid disease of the liver were surgically managed from April 2004 to October 2005 with a follow up period of three *** included 27 men and 42 women with a median age of 35 *** abdominal ultrasound,computed tomography and serology established *** with jaundice and high suspicion of intrabiliary rupture were subjected to preoperative endoscopic retrograde *** with infection,rupture into the biliary tract and peritoneal cavity were categorized as complicated *** patients(26%)had complicated cysts and formed the basis for this ***:Common complications were infection(14%),intrabiliary rupture(9%)and intraperitoneal rupture(3%).All the patients with infected cysts presented with pain and *** the patients with intrabiliary rupture had jaundice,while only four with intrabiliary rupture had pain and only two had *** procedures performed in complicated cysts were:infection-omentoplasty in three and external drainage in seven;intrabiliary rupture-omentoplasty in two and internal drainage in four *** patients with intraperitoneal rupture underwent external *** was no *** postoperative morbidity was 50%in complicated cysts and 16%in uncomplicated ***:Complicated hydatid cyst of the liver can be successfully managed surgically with good long term results.

Objective： Terrorism-relatedbomb at- tacks on civilian population have increased dramatically over the last decade. Craniocerebral injuries secondary to impro- vised explosive devices have not been widely reported in the context of unarmored civilians. This series intends to report the spectrum of these injuries secondary to suicidal and implanted bombs as encountered at the Aga Khan Uni- versity Hospital, Pakistan （AKUH）. Further, a few pertinent management guidelines have also been discussed. Methods： The hospital database and clinical coding during a 5-year period were examined for head injuries se- condary to terrorism-associated blasts. In addition to pa- tient demographics, data analysis for our series included initial Glasgow Coma Scale, presenting neurological complaints, associated non-neurological injuries, manage- ment （conservative or operative） to associated complications, and discharge neurological status. Results： A total of 16 patients were included in this series. Among them 9 were victims of suicidal blasts while 7 were exposed to implanted devices. The patients presented with diverse patterns of injury secondary to a variety of shrapnel. A follow-up record was available for 12 of the 16 patients （mean follow-up： 7.8 months）, with most patients having no active complaints. Conclusion： The results of this series show that civi- lian victims of suicidal and improvised bombings present with a wide range of neurological symptoms and injury patterns, which often differ from the neurological injuries incurred by military personnel in similar situations, and thereby often require individualized care.

Healthcare Needs of the Elderly People over 85 Years Living Alone on the Island Area in Japan: A Descriptive Study

Background: Japan has the highest aging people accounting 33.8 million with the rate of 26.7% in 2015. Although, public long-term care insurance services support people age 40 years and above, most of the users are 85 years and over due to their more vulnerability for getting sick. This study describes the physical, mental and social status of the elderly people aged 85 years and over, who were living alone at home. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2016 and March 2017 in the island of Kure city, Hiroshima, Japan. A structured questionnaire and scales were used for data collection and documentation of physical measurements. Descriptive analysis was used. Result: A total of 190 subjects were participated, and the data were analyzed. The age range of the subjects was 85 to 98 years, and 68.4% of them were 85 to 89 years old. Male and female ratio was 21.6% vs 78.4%. Subjects of 17.4% continued their occupation at the time of the study period and most of them involved in agricultural work (93.9%). A certain percentage of the subjects had abnormal physical, mental and social difficulties and need additional support from family, friends, relatives, and community. Conclusion: Early detection and intervention such as disease management, nutritional support, and human support are required. The findings suggested policy makers to predict the burden and provide necessary care for these elderly people. It is necessary to aware family, friends, relatives, community and government supporting staff to provide information on correct recognition and usages of long-term care insurance services for these elder people.

Allocation of Repairable and Replaceable Components for a System Availability Using Selective Maintenance with Probabilistic Maintenance Time Constraints

In this paper, we obtain optimum allocation of replaceable and repairable components in a system design. When repair and replace time are considered as random in the constraints. We convert probabilistic constraint into an equivalent deterministic constraint by using chance constrained programming. We have used the selective maintenance policy to determine how many components to be replaced & repaired within the limited maintenance time interval and cost. A Numerical example is presented to illustrate the computational procedure and problem is solved by using LINGO Software.

In this paper, we consider an allocation problem in multivariate surveys with non-linear costs of enumeration as a problem of non-linear stochastic programming with multiple objective functions. The solution is obtained through Chance Constrained programming. A different formulation of the problem is also presented in which the non-linear cost function is minimised under the precision constraints on estimates of various characters. The solution is then obtained by using Modified E-model. A numerical example is solved for both the formulations.

Multifractal analysis is carried out for the interactions of 4.5 A and 14.5 A GeV/c 28Si beams with emulsion, CNO and AgBr targets using the standard method of Gq moments. The Rényi dimensions Dq are evaluated and the results on self-similar multifractal spectra are presented. The variation of Dq with q is looked into and the findings reveal that the behaviour is in consistency with the multifractal characteristic of the multiplicity distributions in the various interactions studied. The self-similar multifractal spectra are found to be concave downwards with maximum at αq = 0. Further, Lévy stability analysis is carried out for these interactions. The Lévy stability index μ extracted from multifractal spectrum is found to lie in the range [0, 2] in agreement with the Lévy stability theory.

Water has always been an important and life-sustaining drink to humans and is essential to the survival of all known organisms. Over large parts of the world, humans have inadequate access to drinking water and use water contaminated with disease vectors, pathogens or unacceptable levels of toxins or suspended solids. Drinking such water or using it in food preparation leads to widespread, acute and chronic illnesses and is a major cause of death and misery in many countries. The UN estimates that over 2.0 billion people have limited access to safe water and nearly 800 million people lack even the most basic supply of clean water. The main issue is the affordability of water purifying systems. Many people rely on boiling water or bottled water, which can be expensive. Therefore, technologies that are cost effective, sustainable, ease of operation/maintenance and the treatment processes with locally available materials are required. In this article, some unique low-cost sustainable technologies available/or in-use, i.e. natural filtration, riverbank filtration, biosand filtration, membrane filtration, solar water disinfection technique, biologically degradable materials such as moringa powder, scallop powder treatment, and biosand pitcher treatments have been discussed.
