Face mask detection has several applications,including real-time surveillance,biometrics,*** face masks is also helpful for crowd control and ensuring people wear them *** monitoring personnel,it is impossible to ensure that people wear face masks;automated systems are a much superior option for face mask detection and *** paper introduces a simple and efficient approach for masked face *** architecture of the proposed approach is very straightforward;it combines deep learning and local binary patterns to extract features and classify themasmasked or *** proposed systemrequires hardware withminimal power consumption compared to state-of-the-art deep learning *** proposed system maintains two *** first,this work extracted the local features of an image by using a local binary pattern descriptor,and then we used deep learning to extract global *** proposed approach has achieved excellent accuracy and high *** performance of the proposed method was tested on three benchmark datasets:the realworld masked faces dataset(rMFD),the simulated masked faces dataset(SMFD),and labeled faces in the wild(LFW).Performancemetrics for the proposed technique weremeasured in terms of accuracy,precision,recall,and *** indicated the efficiency of the proposed technique,providing accuracies of 99.86%,99.98%,and 100%for rMFD,SMFD,and LFW,***,the proposed method outperformed state-of-the-art deep learning methods in the recent bibliography for the same problem under study and on the same evaluation datasets.

Thermal performance of domed roof in air-conditioned spaces

Due to their thermal performance,domed roofs are one of the passive solutions that affect energy consumption in *** thermal performance of domed roofs has been investigated in many naturally ventilated ***,few studies have discussed their performance in conditioned ***,this study introduces a computational comparison between domed and flat roofs to investigate their impact on thermal comfort inside a conditioned *** an earlier stage,field measurements were carried out inside a Bahraini mosque to acquire its indoor air conditions during the summer period of 2021,in addition to validating the computational *** findings of this study confirm that,under mechanical cooling conditions,the flat roof offers a lower indoor temperature than the domed roof by 0.4℃and 0.1℃for open and closed doors,***,the air velocity is lower by approximately 0.01 m/s for both door *** overall PMV values of the flat roof are also lower by 0.07 and 0.01,while the PPD values are lower by 0.20,and 0.34 for open and closed doors,*** on these small differences,it can be concluded that the thermal performance of both roofing systems behaves equally in conditioned ***,the air patterns are substantially different,the overall thermal performance is *** similarity drives building designers to rethink the thermal performance of the domed roofs in air-conditioned spaces with such a hot climate,regardless of their aesthetic and acoustical behaviour.

Assessment of fibroblast growth factor 19 as a non-invasive serum marker for hepatocellular carcinoma

BACKGrOUND Fibroblast growth factor 19(FGF-19)is one of the founding members of the endocrine FGF ***,it has been the subject of much interest owing to its role in various physiological processes affecting glucose and lipid metabolism and the regulation of bile acid secretion as well as cell proliferation,differentiation,and ***,FGF-19 secretion in an autocrine style has reportedly contributed to cancer progression in various types of malignancies including hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).AIM To estimate the serum FGF-19 concentrations in HCC cases and assess its diagnostic performance for the detection of *** We recruited 90 adult participants and divided them into three equal groups:Healthy controls,cirrhosis patients,and HCC *** FGF-19 concentrations were measured using the Human FGF-19 ELISA *** We detected a high statistically significant difference in serum FGF-19 levels among the three *** highest level was observed in the HCC group,followed by the cirrhosis and control groups(236.44±40.94 vs 125.63±31.54 vs 69.60±20.90 pg/mL,respectively,P≤0.001).FGF-19 was positively correlated with alpha fetoprotein(AFP;r=0.383,P=0.003)and international normalised ratio(r=0.357,P=0.005),while it was negatively correlated with albumin(r=-0.500,P≤0.001).For the detection of HCC,receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the best cut-off point of AFP was>8.2 ng/mL with an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.78,sensitivity of 63.33%,specificity of 83.33%,positive predictive value(PPV)of 79.2%,negative predictive value(NPV)of 69.4%,and total accuracy of 78%.However,FGF-19 at a cut-off point>180 pg/mL had an AUC of 0.98,sensitivity of 100%,specificity of 90.0%,PPV of 90.0%,NPV of 100%,and total accuracy of 98%.CONCLUSION FGF-19 represents a possible novel non-invasive marker for *** may improve the prognosis of HCC patients due to its utility in several aspects of HCC detection and management.

High-quality medical microscopic images used for diseases detection are expensive and difficult to ***,low-resolution images are favorable due to their low storage space and ease of sharing,where the images can be enlarged when needed using Super-resolution(Sr)***,it is important to maintain the shape and size of the medical images while enlarging *** of the problems facing Sr is that the performance of medical image diagnosis is very poor due to the deterioration of the reconstructed image ***,this paper suggests a multi-Sr and classification framework based on Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)to generate high-resolution images with higher quality and finer details to reduce *** proposed framework comprises five GAN models:Enhanced Sr Generative Adversarial Networks(ESrGAN),Enhanced deep Sr GAN(EDSrGAN),Sub-Pixel-GAN,SrGAN,and Efficient Wider Activation-B GAN(WDSr-b-GAN).To train the proposed models,we have employed images from the famous BreakHis dataset and enlarged them by 4×and 16×upscale factors with the ground truth of the size of 256×256×***,several evaluation metrics like Peak Signal-to-Noise ratio(PSNr),Mean Squared Error(MSE),Structural Similarity Index(SSIM),Multiscale Structural Similarity Index(MS-SSIM),and histogram are applied to make comprehensive and objective comparisons to determine the best methods in terms of efficiency,training time,and storage *** obtained results reveal the superiority of the proposed models over traditional and benchmark models in terms of color and texture restoration and detection by achieving an accuracy of 99.7433%.

Functional outcome of surgical management of low mid-grade lumbar spondylolisthesis when considering the sagittal balance parameters preoperatively:a prospective study

Efficient Channel Estimation Techniques for MIMO Systems with 1-Bit ADC

With a low resolution 1-bit ADC on its receiver(rX) side, MIMO with 1-bit ADC took a considerable step in the fulfillment of the hardware complexity constrains of the internet of things(IoT) PHY layer design. However, applying 1-bit ADC at MIMO rX results in severe nonlinear quantization error. By which, almost all received signal amplitude information is completely distorted. Thus, MIMO channel estimation is considered as a major barrier towards practical realization of 1-bit ADC MIMO system. In this paper, two efficient sparsity-based channel estimation techniques are proposed for 1-bit ADC MIMO systems, namely the low complexity sparsity-based channel estimation(LCSCE), and the iterative adaptive sparsity channel estimation(IASCE). In these techniques, the sparsity of the 1-bit ADC MIMO channel is exploited to propose a new adaptive and iterative compressive sensing(CS) recovery algorithm to handle the 1-bit ADC quantization effect. The proposed algorithms are tested with the state-of-the-art 1-bit ADC MIMO constant envelope modulation(MIMO-CEM). The 1-bit ADC MIMO-CEM system is chosen as it fulfills both energy and hardware complexity constraints of the IoT PHY layer. Simulation results reveal the high effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in terms of spectral efficiency(SE) and computational complexity. The proposed LCSCE reduces the computational complexity of the 1-bit ADC MIMO-CEM channel estimation by 86%, while the IASCE reduces it by 96% compared to the recent techniques of MIMO-CEM channel estimation. Moreover, the proposed LCSCE and IASCE improve the spectrum efficiency by 76 % and 73 %, respectively, compared to the recent techniques.

The communication in the Millimeter-wave(mmWave)band,i.e.,30~300 GHz,is characterized by short-range transmissions and the use of antenna beamforming(BF).Thus,multiple mmWave access points(APs)should be installed to fully cover a target environment with gigabits per second(Gbps)***,inter-beam interference prevents maximizing the sum rates of the established concurrent *** this paper,a reinforcement learning(rL)approach is proposed for enabling mmWave concurrent transmissions by finding out beam directions that maximize the long-term average sum rates of the concurrent ***,the problem is formulated as a multiplayer multiarmed bandit(MAB),where mmWave APs act as the players aiming to maximize their achievable rewards,i.e.,data rates,and the arms to play are the available beam *** this setup,a selfish concurrent multiplayer MAB strategy is *** different MAB algorithms,namely,ϵ-greedy,upper confidence bound(UCB),Thompson sampling(TS),and exponential weight algorithm for exploration and exploitation(EXP3)are examined by employing them in each AP to selfishly enhance its beam selection based only on its previous *** a few rounds of interactions,mmWave APs learn how to select concurrent beams that enhance the overall system *** proposed MAB based mmWave concurrent BF shows comparable performance to the optimal solution.

In the present work,an incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamic(SPH)method is introduced to simulate water-soil-structure *** the current calculation,the water is modelled as a Newtonian *** soil is modelled in two different *** the first case,the granular material is considered as a fluid where a Bingham type constitutive model is proposed based on Mohr-Coulomb yield-stress criterion,and the viscosity is derived from the cohesion and friction *** addition,the fictitious suspension layers between water and soil depending on the concentration of soil are *** the second case,Hooke’s law introduces elastic *** ISPH,the pressure is evaluated by solving the pressure Poisson equation using a semi-implicit algorithm based on the projection method and an eddy viscosity for water is modelled by a large eddy simulation with the Smagorinsky *** the proposed ISPH method,the pressure is stabilized to simulate the multiphase flow between soil and *** experiments for water-soil suspension flow of Louvain erosional dam break with flat soil foundation,is simulated and validated using 3D-ISPH *** between water-soil interactions with different solid structures are *** results revealed that,the suspension layers with the Bingham model of soil gives more accurate results in the experiment as compared to the case of the Bingham model without suspension *** addition,the elastic soil model by the Hooke’s law can simulate soil hump accurately as compared to the Bingham *** the simulations,avoiding erosion behind the structure for preventing the structure break during flood are investigated by using an extended structure or a wedge structure.

Acquired Gerbode Defect Secondary to Severe Bicuspid Aortic Valve Endocarditis

An annular aortic abscess is a fatal complication of infective endocarditis. Echocardiography is the initial imaging modality to confirm the diagnosis in suspected infective endocarditis. Here, we present a case of a bicuspid aortic valve infective endocarditis caused by Staphylococcus aureus and complicated with annular aortic abscess resulting in acquired Gerbode defect (type II) with tricuspid valve vegetation which was undiagnosed preoperatively. The intraoperative transoesophageal echocardiography yields a new finding prior to the surgical incision, which impacted the clinical decision-making and increased the burden of the procedure.
