Anti-cancer liposomal chemophototherapy using bilayer-localized photosensitizer and cabazitaxel

Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a non-invasive tumor ablation modality that can be enhanced in combination with concurrent ***,we demonstrated that liposomes containing a bilayer-anchored photosensitizer(porphyrin-phospholipid;PoP)can be loaded with drugs in their aqueous core to improve drug delivery and tumor ablation upon target tissue irradiation with *** the present work,we demonstrate that this concept can be extended to drugs loaded within the hydrophobic bilayer of ***(CTX)is a potent second generation taxane anti-cancer drug that was loaded in the bilayer of liposomes also containing 0.1 molar%PoP,generating CTX-loaded PoP liposomes(CTX-PoP-Lip).CTX-PoP-Lip showed unilamellar vesicle morphology,and exhibited integrity in storage and serum,while maintaining drug stability under laser *** vitro cell killing evaluation showed that red-light laser irradiation induced cytotoxicity in cells incubated with CTX-PoP-Lip,compared to control *** vivo pharmacokinetic analysis revealed that following intravenous administration to mice,CTX and PoP exhibited somewhat altered circulation profiles,suggesting that the CTX may have exchanged with serum factors in ***,when a single treatment of CTX-PoP-Lip with laser irradiation was administered to mice bearing human MIA Paca-2 tumors,tumors were effectively ablated whereas the equivalent chemotherapy and PDT monotherapies were *** results demonstrate the versatility of liposome delivery systems for achieving tumor ablation with chemophototherapy.

The utilization of waste feedstocks rich in free fatty acids(ffAs)improves biofuel production on the basis of economics and ***,converting these feedstocks to usable biofuel poses inherent problems in terms of the ffA to biofuel conversion yield and the catalyst ***,we report novel ferric sulfate impregnated carbon derived from waste tires as highly active catalysts for ffA to biofuel *** approach takes advantage of facile synthesis methods involving sonication and dehydration processes to create materials that are useful for the efficient catalytic conversion of ffAs to advanced *** of ffAs to fatty acid methyl esters was achieved at 65C and atmospheric pressure with>98%yield even in the presence of *** catalysts maintained similar activity after four successive uses,which indicates that the active catalytic sites are effectively supported by the three-dimensional meso/microporous architecture of the tire-derived carbon.

Metal sulfides have been widely enticed as battery-type electrodes in supercapacitor devices because of their maximal theoretical ***,their lower conductivity and ion transport kinetics can largely restrict their rate performance,hence the practical usage in fields of demanding high power ***,the design of new electrodes with higher energy and power densities remains a highly challenging *** the best of our knowledge,a novel hierarchical composite of Al-CoS_(2) on nitrogendoped graphene(NG)is prepared based on a zeolite imidazole framework using a simple and scalable hydrothermal *** this hybrid,ultrathin Al-CoS_(2) nanosheet arrays are vertically orientated on the NG framework to limit self-aggregation,hence increasing the electrical property and cycle stability of *** is investigated that the Al/Co feeding ratio plays a crucial role in controlling the obtained hierarchical structure of Al-Co-S sheets and their electrode ***,Al^(3+) can influence remarkably the morphology and electrochemical property of the resultant graphene *** effective synergism is noticed between the redox Al-CoS_(2) and NG resulting in fast electron transfer and chargingdischarging ***,when the as-developed composite is utilized as a positive electrode at an applied current density of 1 A/g,a specific capacitance of 1915.8 f/g is attained with ultra-long cycle stability(96%,10,000 cycles)and an excellent retention rate(~89%).As a consequence,when a solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor(ASC)device is made by combining an Al-CoS_(2) @NG hybrid with a negative electrode made of polyaniline(PANI)derived carbon nanorods(PCNRs),it demonstrates remarkable specific capacitance(188 f/g),energy density(66.9 Wh/kg),and cyclic stability of 92%after 10,000 *** may open the pathway for the application of the next-generation supercapacitors in the future.

Vanadium nitride （VN） was deposited by DC-sputtering on a vertically aligned carbon nanotube （CNTs） template for the purpose of nano-structuration. This led to the fabrication of hierarchically composite electrodes consisting of porous and nanostructured VN grown on vertically aligned CNTs in a nano-treelike configuration for micro-supercapacitor application. The electrodes show excellent performance with an areal capacitance as high as 37.5 mf cm^-2 at a scan rate of 2 mV s^-1 in a 0.5 M K2504 mild electrolyte solution. furthermore, the capacitance decay was only 15% after 20,000 consecutive cycles. Moreover, the capacitance was found to increase with VN deposit thickness. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses of the electrodes before and after cycling suggest that the oxide layers that form at the VN surface is the responsible for the redox energy storage in this material. Such electrodes can compete with other transition metal nitride based electrodes for micro-supercapacitors.

Involvement of Quebracho tannins in diet alters productive and reproductive efficiency of postpartum buffalo cows

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of 10 weeks supplementation of Quebracho tannins(QT; 0 [control], 100 [QT100] or 200 g/[cow$d] [QT_(200)]) to 30 multiparous postpartum buffalo cows(10 cows per group) on milk yield and composition, blood metabolites and reproductive *** of QT100 had no significant effect on milk yield, whereas QT_(200) decreased(P fat-corrected milk(fCM)yield, but no significant effects were found on percentages of milk fat and protein. Contrariwise, yields of milk fat, lactose and milk protein were decreased(P fat(SNf) percentage and yield were decreased(P f ovarian follicles, number of small follicles, peripheral progesterone concentration and conception rate. Supplementation of QT_(200) numerically increased number of large follicles, mean diameter of large follicle, number and diameters of corpora lutea. The inclusion of QT_(200) shortened days open(DO) and decreased number of services per ***, QT did not show significant effects on serum total protein, albumin, globulin, glucose,cholesterol and triglycerides concentrations. Supplementation of QT100 caused an increase(P f serum urea compared with that in control and QT_(200) groups. Generally, QT decreased(P fore, the supplementation of a commercial QT to early lactating Egyptian buffalo cows displayed negative consequences on their productive and reproductive performances.

Phosphorus Based Ceramics for Positive Electrode Synthesis and Characterization

Historically, the LiCoO2 is the most used as active material for battery positive electrode because of its great potential (3.7 - 4.2 V), its interesting specific capacity (150 mA·h·g-1) and its excellent life cycle [1] 08D0C9EA79f9BACE118C8200AA004BA90B02000000080000000E0000005f005200650066003300390038003500370036003700340032000000 . However, its toxicity, the cobalt cost and its structural instability oriented research towards new materials more stable that can replace it. In another context, hybrid, electrical vehicles and communication (computers and mobile phones...) have increased the scientific and technological research for new materials capable of storing and return energy through a system called accumulator. And research has identified the phosphate olivine structure as the most prolific ceramic material for positive electrode. LifePO4 is a promising cathode material for Lithium-ion batteries. It provides high thermal stability and is synthesized using low cost materials. Unfortunately LifePO4 suffers from a low electrical conductivity, which is harmful to its electrochemical performance. Decreasing the particle size, coating the particles with carbon or doping with metal atoms can increase the conductivity of the material. In this paper, we present the synthesis, physico-chemical and electrical characterization of lithium and iron doped Al-phosphorrus-based ceramic. The NPK fertiliser was used as Al and phosphorus precursors. The powder XRD spectrum shows a possible presence of LifePO4 and fe2(PO)3 in theheterostrcture. An important quantity of Al is found by EDX spectra which supposed that the most important based atom is Aluminum and not Phosphorus. This can explain the increase of the conductivity value 102 times more important than those found in the literature for LifePO4.

Small secreted peptides(SSPs)in tomato and their potential roles in drought stress response

Tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)is one of the most important vegetable crops in the world and abiotic stresses often cause serious problems in tomato *** is thus important to identify new regulators in stress response and to devise new approaches to promote stress tolerance in *** studies have shown that small secreted peptides(SSPs)are important signal molecules regulating plant growth and stress response by mediating intercellular ***,little is known about tomato SSPs,especially their roles in responding to abiotic *** we report the identification of 1,050 putative SSPs in the tomato genome,557 of which were classified into 38 known SSP families based on their conserved *** and transcriptome analyses revealed that a large proportion of SlSSPs might be involved in abiotic stress *** analysis indicated that stress response related cis-elements were present on the SlCEP promotors and a number of SlCEPs were significantly upregulated by drought *** the drought-inducible SlCEPs,SlCEP10 and SlCEP11b were selected for further analysis via exogenous application of synthetic *** results showed that treatments with both SlCEP10 and SlCEP11b peptides enhanced tomato drought stress tolerance,indicating the potential roles of SlSSPs in abiotic stress response.

Effect of Partially Coherent Light on the Contrast of Speckle Patterns Obtained Using Digital Image Processing of Speckle Photography

The paper is devoted to study theoretically, the effects of some parameters on the visibility of the speckle patterns. for this propose, a theoretical model for a periodic rough surface was considered. Using this theoretical model, the effects of grain height, its density, the band width and spectral distribution of the line profile (Gaussian and Lorentzian) illuminating a rough surface on the visibility of speckle pattern are investigated. An experimental setup was constructed to study the effect of surface roughness and coherence of the illuminating light beam on the contrast of speckle pattern. The general behavior of the experimental results, which agree with published data, is compatible with the new theoretical model.
