Economic cost-benefit analysis for the agricultural use of sewage sludge treated with lime and fly ash

A tool for calculating the economic and environmental impacts of the use of byproducts of industrial processes that can substitute for perishable resources was *** was exemplified by fly ash(the fine fraction of ash originating from coal burned to generate electricity and collected by filtering exhaust gases leaving the furnace),added to soil as a component of sewage sludge stabilized with fly ash and lime(NVS).Application to soil of NVS has potential agricultural and environmental advantages and *** costs and benefits of such application were calculated using both a database and expert *** calculations assumed a representative assemblage of soils and crops,with weights assigned to each crop type and soil *** annual weighted benefits(additional income for the farmer)and costs per hectare reached 324$/ha and 131$/ha *** potential benefits include:Chemical fertilizer replacement,159$/ha;Improvement to the soil’s physical properties,75$/ha;Supply of vital trace elements,33$/*** potential costs were:Regulatory limitations on marketing of crops pending proof of absence of risk of heavy metals or radionuclides accumulation in these crops,(17$/ha and 36$/ha respectively);Application and incorporation cost,50$/*** presented estimates of the costs and benefits refer to the array of soils and conditions typical to *** is possible to maximize potential benefits by applying fly ash only to the most suitable agricultural soils while improper use of fly ash will increase the costs incurred from its use.

Two-dimensional(2D)spectroscopy is used to study the interactions between energy levels in both the field of optics and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).Conventionally,the strength of interaction between two levels is inferred from the value of their common off-diagonal peak in the 2D spectrum,which is termed the cross ***,stronger diagonal peaks often have long tails that extend into the locations of the cross peaks and alter their ***,we introduce a method for retrieving the true interaction strengths by using sparse signal recovery techniques and apply our method in 2D Raman spectroscopy experiments.

Clinical characteristics of progressive nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy

AIM:To study whether patients with progressive nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy(NAION)present earlier than patients with stable NAION and to describe their clinical characteristics and visual ***:This was a retrospective chart *** patients with NAION seen during the acute stage from January 2012 to December 2018 were *** were included if they had documented disc edema and follow up of at least 3 *** with progressive NAION were identified if they worsened in 2 out of 3 parameters:visual acuity≥3 Snellen lines;Color vision≥4 Ishihara plates;the visual field defect involved a new *** clinical characteristics,time from symptom onset to presentation,systemic risk factors and visual outcome were compared to patients with stable ***:Totally 122 NAION cases met the inclusion *** age was 58.1 y(range 22-74),70%were *** cases(16.4%)had progressive *** with progressive NAION did not differ from stable NAION in their demographics,systemic risk factors or in their initial visual *** last follow up,median visual acuity was 1.0 log MAR(IQR 0.64-1.55)in patients with progressive NAION,vs 0.18(IQR 0.1-0.63)in stable NAION(P<0.001).Median color vision testing was 0 plates correct(IQR 0-2.5%)vs 92%plates correct(IQR 50%-100%)in the stable NAION group(P<0.001).Patients with progressive NAION differed in the time from symptom onset to presentation(median 2 d vs 5 d,P=0.011).CONCLUSION:We find no identifiable risk factors associated with progressive *** arrive earlier for ophthalmological evaluation.

Liquid marbles （non-stick droplets） containing crude petroleum are reported. Liquid marbles were ob- tained by use of fluorinated decyl polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxane （FD-POSS） powder. Marbles containing crude petroleum remained stable on a broad diversity of solid and liquid supports. The effective surface tension of marbles filled with petroleum was established. The mechanism of friction of the marbles is discussed. Actuation of liquid marbles containing crude petroleum with an electric field is presented.

Wavelets as Basis Functions in the Adaptation＇s Methods： Author＇s Model for Forecasting Short-Term

The aim of this article is to present author＇s application of wavelets to predict short-term macroeconomic indicators Proposed to predict short-term time series （in particular for predicting macroeconomic indicators）, proprietary model is based on wavelet analysis with Haar wavelets, Daubechies wavelets, and adaptive models; they are the trend crawling model and alignment exponential model. Adaptive models have been modified through the introduction of wavelet function and combined into a single forecast model. Obtained from conducted research results, it shows the model an effective instrument to predict the short-term.

Non-classical Algorithm for Time Series Prediction of the Range of Economic Phenomena With Regard to the Interaction of Financial Market Indicators

The aim of the article is to present non-clasical copyrighted algorithm for prediction of time series, presenting macroeconomic indicators and stock market indices. The algorithm is based on artificial neural networks and multi-resolution analysis （the algorithm is based on Daubechies wavelet）. However, the main feature of the algorithm, which gives a good quality of the forecasts, is all included in the series analysis division into, a few partial under-series and prediction dependence on a number of other economic series. The algorithm used for the prediction, is copyrighted algorithm, labeled M.H-D in this article. Application of the algorithm was performed on a series presenting WIG 20. The forecast of WIG 20 was conditional on trading the Dow Jones, DAX, Nikkei, Hang Seng, taking into account the sliding time window. As an example application of copyrighted model, the forecast of WIG 20 for a period of two years, one year, six month was appointed. An empirical example is described. It shows that the proposed model can predict index with the scale of two years, one year, a half year and other intervals. Precision of prediction is satisfactory. An average absolute percentage error of each forecast was： 0.0099%---for two-year forecasts WIG 20; 0.0552%--for the annual forecast WIG 20; and 0.1788%---for the six-month forecasts WIG 20.

Trabeculectomy with Ex-PRESS implant versus Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation-a comparative study

AIM：To compare the surgical outcomes of trabeculectomy with Ex-PRESS implant and Ahmed glaucoma valve（AGV） implantation. METHODS： Patients who underwent trabeculectomy with Ex-PRESS implants or AGV implantation separately were included in this retrospective chart *** outcome measures were surgical failure and *** was defined as intraocular pressure（IOP）〉21 mm Hg or 〈5 mm Hg on two consecutive visits after 3mo,reoperation for glaucoma,or loss of light *** that had not failed were considered as complete success if they did not required supplemental medical ***： A total of 64 eyes from 57 patients were included： 31 eyes in the Ex-PRESS group and 33 eyes in the AGV *** mean follow-up time was 2.6 ±1.1y and 3.3±1.6y,*** in the AGV group had significantly higher baseline mean IOP（P =0.005）,lower baseline mean visual acuity（VA）（P =0.02）,and higher proportion of patients with history of previous trabeculectomy（P 〈0.0001）.Crude failure rates were 16.1%,n =5/31 in the Ex-PRESS group and 24.2%,n =8/33 in the AGV *** cumulative proportion of failure was similar between the groups,P =*** proportion of eyes that experienced postoperative complications was32.3% in the Ex-PRESS group and 60.1% in the AGV group（P =0.0229）.CONCLUSION： Trabeculectomy with Ex-PRESS implant and AGV implantation had comparable failure *** AGV group had more post-operative complications,but also included more complex cases with higher baselinemean IOP,worse baseline mean VA,and more previous glaucoma ***,the results are limited to the cohort included in this study.

The Tomato Hybrid Proline-rich Protein(THyPRP)gene was specifically expressed in the tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)flower abscission zone(FAZ),and its stable antisense silencing under the control of an abscission zone(AZ)-specific promoter,Tomato Abscission Polygalacturonase4,significantly inhibited tomato pedicel abscission following flower *** understanding the THyPRP role in regulating pedicel abscission,a transcriptomic analysis of the FAZ of THyPRP-silenced plants was performed,using a newly developed AZ-specific tomato microarray *** expression of THyPRP in the silenced plants was already observed before abscission induction,resulting in FAZ-specific altered gene expression of transcription factors,epigenetic modifiers,post-translational regulators,and *** data demonstrate that the effect of THyPRP silencing on pedicel abscission was not mediated by its effect on auxin balance,but by decreased ethylene biosynthesis and ***,THyPRP silencing revealed new players,which were demonstrated for the first time to be involved in regulating pedicel abscission *** include:gibberellin perception,Ca2+-Calmodulin signaling,Serpins and Small Ubiquitin-related Modifier proteins involved in post-translational modifications,Synthaxin and SNARE-like proteins,which participate in exocytosis,a process necessary for cell *** changes,occurring in the silenced plants early after flower removal,inhibited and/or delayed the acquisition of the competence of the FAZ cells to respond to ethylene *** results suggest that THyPRP acts as a master regulator of flower abscission in tomato,predominantly by playing a role in the regulation of the FAZ cell competence to respond to ethylene signals.

Selective recognition of PTRE1 transcripts mediated by protein-protein interaction between the m^(6)A reader ECT2 and PTRE1

N^(6)-methyladenosine (m^(6)A) is a prevalent internal post-transcriptional modification in eukaryotic RNAs executed by m^(6)A-binding proteins known as “readers.” Our previous research demonstrated that the Arabidopsis m^(6)A reader ECT2 positively regulates transcript levels of the proteasome regulator PTRE1 and several 20S proteasome subunits, thereby enhancing 26S proteasome activity. However, mechanism underlying the selective recognition of m^(6)A targets by readers, such as ECT2, remains elusive. In this study, we further demonstrate that ECT2 physically interacts with PTRE1 and several 20S proteasome subunits. This interaction, which occurs on the ribosome, involves the N terminus of PTRE1, suggesting that ECT2 might bind to the nascent PTRE1 polypeptide. Deleting ECT2’s protein interaction domain impairs its mRNA-binding ability, whereas mutations in the m^(6)A-RNA-binding site do not affect protein-protein interactions. Moreover, introducing a novel protein-binding domain into ECT2 increases transcript levels of proteins interacting with this domain. Our findings indicate that interaction with the PTRE1 protein enhances ECT2’s binding to PTRE1 m^(6)A mRNAs during translation, thereby regulating PTRE1 mRNA levels.

Effects of K and N Nutrition on Function and Production of Ranunculus asiaticus

Potassium （K） affects a range of physiological processes in the plant and is a key factor controlling crop productivity and yield quality. Little information is available concerning effects of K nutrition on function of cut flower plants. The present study was carried out to investigate the interaction between K and N nutrition, on flower quantity and quality of Ranunculus asiaticus L. The plants were supplied with three levels of K fertigation （60, 120, or 180 mg K L-1） under 50 mg N L-1 application, and at the intermediate level of 120 mg K L-1, to three levels of N applications （50, 100, or 150 mg N L-l）. The two lowest K treatments and the lowest N treatment excelled in flower production due to the lower incidence of stem-toppling, a disorder associated with localized Ca deficiencies in rapidly expanding tissues of the flower stem. Detrimental effects in terms of yield quality were apparent already under supply of 180 mg K L-1 and 50 mg N L-1, and were not associated with changes in osmotic potential, relative water content or membrane stability of the plant tissue, or with changes in mineral contents of the leaves other than reduced Ca under high N application. Our results suggest a low nutritional requirement of R. asiaticus L. for K and N, a lack of involvement of tissue water relations in the reduced flower quality under the application of high concentrations of K and N, and an induction of stem toppling under high application of N and K by reduced availability of Ca to the expanding tissue of the flower stem.
