salinity affects more than 6%of the world’s total land area,causing massive losses in crop *** inhibits plant growth and development through osmotic and ionic stresses;however,some plants exhibit adaptations through osmotic regulation,exclusion,and translocation of accumulated Na+or Cl-.Currently,there are no practical,economically viable methods for managing salinity,so the best practice is to grow crops with improved *** is the stage in a plant’s life cycle most adversely affected by ***,the fourth most important cereal crop in the world,has outstanding salinity tolerance,relative to other cereal ***,we review the genetics of salinity tolerance in barley during germination by summarizing reported quantitative trait loci(QTLs)and functional *** homologs of candidate genes for salinity tolerance in Arabidopsis,soybean,maize,wheat,and rice have been blasted and mapped on the barley reference *** genetic diversity of three reported functional gene families for salt tolerance during barley germination,namely dehydration-responsive element-binding(DREB)protein,somatic embryogenesis receptor-like kinase and aquaporin genes,is *** all three gene families show great diversity in most plant species,the DREB gene family is more diverse in barley than in wheat and *** to this review,a convenient method for screening for salinity tolerance at germination is needed,and the mechanisms of action of the genes involved in salt tolerance need to be identified,validated,and transferred to commercial cultivars for field production in saline soil.

Active and passive behaviors of gold in cyanide solutions

Active and passive behaviors of pure gold（Au） and roasted gold ore（RGO） electrodes were investigated at 25 °C in de-aerated agitated cyanide *** voltammetry and potentiodynamic polarization with agitation at 100 r/min in 0.04 mol/L NaCN solution showed different peak positions and current *** tests illustrate that the peak current densities increase greatly with increasing the cyanide *** the pH value from 10 to 11 resultes in a great decrease of current density,while it increases noticeably by decreasing the agitation from 100 to 60 r/*** the presence of oxygen,Au and RGO electrodes show different characteristics of peak positions and corrosion *** potentiostatic studies show that increasing the potential from 1 to 1.4 V at pH value of 11 results in an 80% decrease of current density while decreasing the pH value from 11 to 10 at 1 V gives a 1.7 fold increase of current density,possibly due to more effective passive *** polarization,electrochemical noise measurements（ENM） during decay periods show that Au results in more passive states at high potentials,showing pitting *** ENM results show that this technique can be a promising tool for a better understanding of gold *** XPs studies prove the presence of passive oxides.

Fibrogenesis imperfecta ossium is a rare disorder of bone usually characterized by marked osteopenia and associated with variable osteoporosis and osteosclerosis, changing over time. Histological examination shows that newly formed collagen is abnormal, lacking birefringence when examined by polarized light. The case presented demonstrates these features and, in addition, a previously undocumented finding of a persistent marked reduction of the serum C3 and C4. Osteoblasts established in culture from a bone biopsy showed abnormal morphology on electron microscopy and increased proliferation when cultured with benzoylbenzoyl-ATP and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, contrasting with findings in normal osteoblasts in culture. A gene microarray study showed marked upregulation of the messenger RNA(mRNA) for G-protein-coupled receptor 128(GPR 128), an orphan receptor of unknown function and also of osteoprotegerin in the patient's osteoblasts in culture. When normal osteoblasts were cultured with the patient's serum, there was marked upregulation of the mRNA for aquaporin 1. A single pathogenetic factor to account for the features of this disorder has not been defined, but the unique findings described here may facilitate more definitive investigation of the abnormal bone cell function.

Resection margin influences the outcome of patients with bilobar colorectal liver metastases

AIMTo evaluate the outcome of patients with bilobar colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) and identify clinico-pathological variables that influenced survival. METHODsPatients with bilobar CRLM were identified from a prospectively maintained hepatobiliary database during the study period (January 2010-June 2014). Collated data included demographics, primary tumour treatment, surgical data, histopathology analysis and clinical outcome. Down-staging therapy included Oxaliplatin- or Irinotecan- based regimens, and Cetuximab was also used in patients that were K-RAs wild-type. Response to neo-adjuvant therapy was assessed at the multi-disciplinary team meeting and considered for surgery if all macroscopic CRLM were resectable with a clear margin while preserving sufficient liver parenchyma. REsULTsOf the 136 patients included, thirty-two (23.5%) patients were considered inoperable and referred for palliative chemotherapy, and thirty-four (25%) patients underwent liver resection. seventy (51.4%) patients underwent down-staging therapy, of which 37 (52.8%) patients responded sufficiently to undergo liver resection. Patients that failed to respond to down-staging therapy (n = 33, 47.1%) were referred for palliative therapy. There was a significant difference in overall survival between the three groups (surgery vs down-staging therapy vs inoperable disease, P P P = 0.017). On multi-variate analysis, R0 resection (P = 0.030) and female (P = 0.036) gender significantly influenced overall survival. CONCLUsIONPatients undergoing liver resection with bilobar CRLM have a significantly better survival outcome. R0 resection is associated with improved disease-free and overall survival in this patient group.

Managing of smart Micro-Grid Connected scheme Using Group search Optimization

This article introduces a group search optimization (GsO) based tuning model for modelling and managing smart Micro-Grids connected system. In existing systems, typically tuned PID controllers are engaged to point out the load frequency control (LFC) problems through different tuning techniques. Though, inappropriately tuned PID controller may reveal pitiable dynamical reply and also incorrect option of integral gain may even undermine the complete system. This research is used to explain about an optimized energy management system through Group search Optimization (GsO) for building incorporation in smart micro-grids (MGs) with zero grid-impact. The essential for this technique is to develop the MG effectiveness, when the complete PI controller requires to be tuned. Consequently, we proposed that the proposed GsO based algorithm with appropriate explanation or member representation, derivation of fitness function, producer process, scrounger process, and ranger process. An entire and adaptable design of MATLAB/sIMULINK also proposed. The related solutions and practical test verifications are given. This paper verified that the proposed method was effective in Micro-Grid (MG) applications. The comparison results demonstrate the advantage of the proposed technique and confirm its potential to solve the problem.

Carbon supply and the Regulation of Cell Wa synthesis

All plant cells are surrounded by a cell wall that determines the directionality of cell growth and protects the cell against its environment. Plant cell walls are comprised primarily of polysaccharides and represent the largest sink for photosynthetically fixed carbon, both for individual plants and in the terrestrial biosphere as a whole. Cell wall synthesis is a highly sophisticated process, involving multiple enzymes and metabolic intermediates, intracellular trafficking of proteins and cell wall precursors, assembly of cell wall polymers into the extracellular matrix, remodeling of polymers and their interactions, and recycling of cell wall sugars. In this review we discuss how newly fixed carbon, in the form of UDP-glucose and other nucleotide sugars, contributes to the synthesis of cell wall polysaccharides, and how cell wall synthesis is influenced by the carbon status of the plant, with a focus on the model species Arabidopsis （Arabidopsis thaliana）.

In this paper,we prove a volume growth estimate for steady gradient Ricci solitons with bounded Nash *** show that such a steady gradient Ricci soliton has volume growth rate no smaller than r^n+1\*** result not only improves the estimate in(Chan et al.,arXiv:2107.01419,2021,Theorem 1.3),but also is optimal since the Bryant soliton and Appleton’s solitons(Appleton,arXiv:1708.00161,2017)have exactly this growth rate.

The refined physical parameters of transiting exoplanet system HAT-P-24

The transiting exoplanet system HAT-P-24 was observed by using CCD cameras at Yunnan Observatory and Hokoon Astronomical Centre, China in 2010 and 2012. In order to enhance the signal to noise ratio of transit events, the observed data are corrected for systematic errors according to Collier Cameron et al.＇s coarse de- correlation and Tamuz et al.＇s sYsREM algorithms. Three new complete transit light curves are analyzed by means of the Markov chain Monte Carlo technique, and the new physical parameters of the system are derived. They are consistent with the old ones from the discovered paper except for a new larger radius Rp = 1.364 Rj of HAT- P-24b, which confirms its inflated nature. By combining the five available epochs of mid-transit derived from complete transit light curves, the orbital period of HAT-P- 24b is refined to P = 3.3552479 d and no obvious transit timing variation signal can be found from these five transit events during 2010-2012.

Detection and analysis of indicator and pathogenic bacteria in conventional and organic fruits and vegetables sold in retail markets

Produce-associated food-borne outbreaks have been increasingly implicated as the significant proportion of the annual incidence of food-borne ilness *** objectives of this study were to determine the concentrations of indicator bacteria and the presence of salmonella *** spp..Escherichia coli(*** 0157:H7,and Listeria monocytogenes(***),and to characterize predictors associated with salmonella contamination of retail produce from fresh markets and supermarkets in Bangkok,Thailand.A total of 503 samples were col-lected during May 2018 and February 2019,comprised of sweet basil,spring onion,coriander,cabbage,lettuce,cucumber,and tomato,with conventional items from fresh open-air markets(n=167),conventional items from supermarkets(n=168),and organic items from supermarkets(n=168).The overall prevalence in these 503 items for fecal coliforms and *** was 84.3%and 71.4%,with mean concentrations(±standard deviation)of fecal coliforms and *** being(3.0×10^(5)±1.3×10^(5))most probable number(MPN)/g and(1.8×10^(5)±1.1×10^(5))MPN/g,*** concentrations of fecal coliforms and *** were higher in produce sampled from fresh open-air markets than produce from supermarkets;simi-larly,these bacterial indicators were higher from produce grown under conventional methods than certified organic *** prevalence of salmonella and shigella was 4.8%and 0.4%,respectively,but no positives were found for *** 0157:H7 and *** predom-inant salmonella serovar was stanley(30.8%).Based on logistic regression,the odds of salmonella contamination were significantly(Psus dry season,produce grown using conventional versus organic agriculture,sweet basil versus other commodities,and using ice tank versus dry refrigeration for overnight retail *** study indicated that fruits and vegetables are important sources of microbial ***,monitoring and surveillance of pathogen cont
