Background: Hepatic tumors with compl.x vascul.r suppl. or poor rel.tive perfusion are prone to decreased rates of objective response. This is compounded in the setting of Yttrium-90(Y90) transarterial.radioembol.zation(TARE), which is minimal.y embol.c and fl.w-dependent, rel.ing on high threshol. dose for compl.te ***: We describe our experience with intrahepatic fl.w diversion(FD) prior to TARE of hepatocel.ul.r carcinoma(HCC) with chal.enging vascul.r *** and methods: Between April.2014 and January 2020, 886 cases of coinciding MAA or TARE and bl.nd embol.zation or temporary occl.sion were *** embol.zations performed for more routine purposes were excl.ded. FD was performed by bl.nd embol.zation or temporary occl.sion of vessel. suppl.ing non-mal.gnant parenchyma in cases where fl.w was not preferential.to target tumor. l.sion characteristics, vascul.r suppl., treatment approach, angiography, and adverse events(AEs) were reviewed. Radiographic response was assessed using mRECIST ***: 22 cases of FD of focal.HCC were identified. Embol.cs incl.ded cal.brated microspheres(n = 11), microcoil.(n = 4), gel.oam(n = 3), temporary bal.oon occl.sion(n = 2) and temporary depl.yment of a microvascul.r pl.g(n = 1). Post-treatment SPECT-CT dosimetry coverage was concordant with target l.sions in al. cases. Mean fol.ow-up was 16.7 months(1.4–45 mos). Tumor-specific response per m RECIST was 41% compl.te response, 50% objective response, and 59% disease control.rate. No major adverse events or grade 3/4 hepatotoxicity were ***: Our findings suggest that FD prior to TARE is safe and potential.y effective in treating HCC with compl.x vascul.r suppl. or poor tumor perfusion.

Information on host pl.nt preference of agricul.ural.y important insect pests, such as l.gus hesperus （Knight）, can be hel.ful.in predicting its occurrence and future movement among crop and nonrop host pl.nts. A fiel. study was conducted during 2005 and 2006 to eval.ate the host preference of l.gus to cotton and four other host pl.nts in the Texas High Pl.ins, incl.ding al.al.a （Medicago sativa l.）, wil. sunfl.wer （Hel.anthus annuus l.）, Russian thistl. （Sal.ol. iberica l.） and pigweed （Amaranthus pal.eri l.）. Sampl.ng for both nymphs and adul.s during 2005 （Jul. to November） and 2006 （June to November） showed that al.al.a and Russian thistl. were the two most preferred hosts out of the five hosts eval.ated. Abundance of nymphs （numbers per 50 sweeps per host pl.nt） during the sampl.ng period al.o indicated the superior reproductive suitabil.ty of al.al.a and Russian thistl.. Cotton appeared to be the l.ast attractive host pl.nt for l.gus when Russian thistl. and al.al.a were avail.bl. in the host mosaic. Seasonal.abundance of l.gus was found to be l.wer during 2006 compared to 2005, which may be expl.ined by the difference in rainfal. patterns during these two years. In terms of species dominance, l. hesperus was the most dominant species in the sampl.d popul.tion fol.owed by an inconsiderabl. fraction ofl. el.sus and l. l.neol.ris.

This paper devel.ps mathematical.y and empirical.y tractabl. regional.and interregional.model.of economic devel.opment with increasing returns to scal. (IRS) under the neocl.ssical.assumptions. A one-sector, two-region model.in which one region exhibits IRS is presented and the whol. nation presents constant returns to scal.. The devel.pment of the l.cal.IRS economy is shown to be constrained to a “moving equil.brium” path. The prel.minary empirical.resul.s are sufficientl. supportive of the argument to encourage further research al.ng the l.nes of the model. In particul.r, the neocl.ssical.model.does not predict negative coefficients on the real.rental.val.e of capital.in regressions expl.ining popul.tion or empl.yment rel.tive to that in the nation.
